Time and time again Epica shows the world they are masters in music, genius in shifting from being intense bombastic to being intensely calm ( changing the same f****** song) and have a overpowering love for the art they are experiencing and performing that anyone watching and inhaling their output is mesmerized by their art. And most important of all: They have a great time making their works of art...it just shows!
I was thinking the same thing. I was watching Mark Jansen’s other group Mayan with Marcela Bovio. How much Mark is a showman engaging with the audience. Toumas from Nightwish his music is brilliant like Mark but he is so aloof with the audience. Epics I find is more enjoyable to watch but I love both groups
When I read that an acoustic version of ‘Abyss of Time’ was out, I was a little bit disappointed, because I thought ‘an unplugged version of the same song we already know’ wouldn’t be very interesting. But hell, was I wrong! This is really a song of its own with lots of new elements. The band members showing some less known talents is also quite nice! Very well done!
The acoustic version are more Coen's and Isaacs thing. Also Mark has been in Italy whilst they were recording so he probably would have been there even if he wanted to.
