This trip we are clearing tree debris that is from the 7 mature trees we cut down to protect the cabin from fire danger and fallen danger. We cleared a path at least 50ft away from the cabin. Enjoy!

Great clean up of trees, brush and leaves. Forgot to mention in previous video about the original cabin, it sure looks pretty cool. I think the UP is a little different when it come to building code On my little house I have had some what were they thinking moments.

Yes, we encourage everyone to clean up around their place atleast 50' and also any trees outside of that that would fall on the cabin.

I have to wait till spring before I can start building on my U.P. property east of The Seney Swamp. Only 2 spots on my property that get cell signal. Fells like home there in the woods. Even gathered American Chestnut from Beaver Island, Bur oak, and Scarlet oak to plant there.

Smart, what kind of build are you planning. We are going to add on to ours with post and beam, with normal stick build after that. We are not to far from you if you are near Seney.

A chainsaw mill works good on those big trees you can slap them up where they lay

we are looking at property in the UP to live full time off grid. what counties or areas do you suggest? Want to be around other like minded folks and have that sense of community.

Honestly depends on what you want. I'd look for property with a cabin, that had open areas for solar, and terrain enough to have a garden, and water on it, preferably a natural source but a well would be OK also. Ours is not year round. I like the Eastern UP, Luce County.
