I would be embarrassed to say how many times I've watched this performance, but the sheer magnetism of Freddie, and the way he takes command of the stage, playing the audience like an instrument... it's mesmerizing. Queen stole the show and everybody knew it. I'm glad I found your channel today, 30 years from the date of Freddie's passing. It's like a balm, watching you grow in your appreciation of this phenomenal group.

*NOBODY* could get a crowd going like Freddie Mercury could!! In case no one thought about this, Freddie didn’t have earpieces in, and he sang it PERFECTLY!! It’s so sad to think if he could’ve lived a few more months (when the AIDS “cocktail” came out) he’d most likely still be with us today, and still performing. 😔
I remember watching this on TV when it happened. Even then it was clear how iconic this performance would go down in history. 🤟🏼

I very lucky to be at Live Aid, the audience was estimated to be around one hundred thousand. What your looking at is the old Wembley stadium, when built it had a capacity of one hundred thousand standing on the terraces around the ground.there is now a new Wembley stadium capacity 80,000. Queen on the day sounded much better than the other groups, even louder. My ticket cost £25 pounds UK sterling,if Freddie had told us to stand on our heads we would have done it,he seemed to have a magical hold over the audience. On the way home on the train all anybody could talk about Queens performance. What a day will live in my heart forever!💟

In case people aren't aware: This was a world-spanning event (Live Aid 85) held in multiple cities, with artists in different countries switching back and forth between being broadcast. It was plagued with issues from the start... sound was off for some people, timing of artists leaving the stage or getting onto stage was disrupting the ability to broadcast another set in another country, the donations designed to help send food to the Ethiopian people suffering through a 2 year drought and serious food shortages (An estimated 1.2 Million dead, another 2.5 Million displaced) were NOT coming in fast enough or in enough amounts to really make an impact as it was barely breaking even with having to pay for the event itself. Queen (Who was currently feeling like they were coming to the end of their run, AND catching flak for doing a South African concert during Apartheid) come on stage. They had rehearsed their set, AND reportedly someone adjusted the sound system behind the scenes, AND they treated it as a "mini-concert" instead of a basic "charity event" like other artists have done. They came onstage and COMPLETELY enthralled the live audience and amazed the audiences watching at home. Immediately AFTER Queen's set, Geldof the organizer of the event got on TV and said "Give us the (reportedly f***ing money" while TV hosts were doing a generic "meet-n-greet" with other artists. The donations CAM FLOODING IN! With an estimated (Dollars/Pounds) 300 A SECOND ... In total, they raised over $125 Million in DONATIONS! Queen was given ABSOLUTE CREDIT for changing not only the enjoyment of the live audience, but kick-starting the FLOOD of donations that came in, including a $1Million donation from the royal family of Dubai. TO THIS DAY.... This is considered on of Rock-n-Roll's "historical concert moments".

As many times as I've seen this I've never noticed how, at the end when Freddie is taking his bows, Roger & Brian had their arms around each other as they & Deaky took their bows. It gave me a little thrill because ONE WEEK from today I'll finally get to see those two perform. Another factoid: Queen were louder than the other bands. The volume for the show was pre-set, but Queen had their soundman kick it up a notch for them. At least that's the story.

This was one of the greatest shows ever. I was 14 and about 40 of us were together to watch. When Queen came on we all stopped and sang, danced just as though we were there live. Go listen to the last song of the night on the 85 Live Aid. Freddie and Brian play the last song. They wrote it 3 or 4 years before this concert and it fit perfectly. What world have we created. It's beautiful.

Freddie spent most of the day without a voice; he had a severe throat infection.... He got his voice back shortly before they went on, and Queen went on to perform the greatest concert performance in music history.... the Radio Gaga Clapping went on in Wembley(( 72000)) and Philadelphia (( 82000)) both places... Freddie OWNED the world for 20 minutes

For the introduction of the band, a lot of people might not recognize that the two constables are Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones, who were part of a popular British sketch comedy show, Not the Nine O'Clock News, which would often lampoon the police with sketches about the police being inept, oppressive, and/or racist. I never saw this version of Queen at Live Aid which included the introduction, but that's pretty brilliant that they had guests like that come on to introduce them. XD

GOAT!! The greatest of all time and it was 1985 after the band hit Peak around 1980 with the game album. The band has been together for 15 years and many people thought that Queen was on their way out because they all had done some solo work, but Fred was the last one to do anything solo.
Paul Gambaccini said that Queen took their rehearsal for this performance more professionally than any other band. It was like Queen was at this point in their career where they had forgotten how good they were and some people in the public had forgotten how good they were. QUEEN'S performance at Live Aid was like, " have we forgotten how good we are and have you forgotten how good we are?" Here, HAVE THIS!!!❤❤
