As noted in your quote, the bolt holes will not line up. Regardless of the supplier, they will not line up. Your original axles were made by Henschen, who are no longer in existence. The original axles had 9 1/8" bolt hole center. The current design (regardless of manufacturer) are 8" bolt hole center for #10 axles & 9 1/2" for #11 axles. Re-drilling holes is part of fitting modern axles to 50+ year old trailers. As far as the shock brackets are concerned, you are correct, some eras of Airstream will suit the current shock bracket configuration & some will require modification. It is very rare that we have to offset the lower mounting stud as much as you have. My staff are not "muscle men" & have managed to bend the existing brackets to suit without issue. Keep in mind that getting a "plug & play" for anything 50+ years old is rare these days. We strive to make the mods as simple as possible, as we too need to do this on our installations at my restoration shop.

Once again Colin, you are awesome!! I did mention a couple of these points in the video to relay the info you gave us. It was a bummer to find we were one of those few years of Airstreams where these things just simply don't line up, and some modification is necessary to make them work. But you and your shop were super helpful in guiding us through the process, and we made them work indeed! It's been 4 months full time on the road now and the axles and shocks have been performing great!
And the advice you gave to wear in the trailer brakes which weren't working initially: holding the trailer break for 10-15 seconds then free for 2 minutes, hold for 15 seconds, off for 2 minutes etc. After about 5 or 6 times of doing this, the brakes started kicking in and have been working great ever since.
PS - I also really appreciated the recommendation you gave us on the stainless baby moon hubcaps - they look great on Ramona!
Thanks again Colin!! We recommend you guys all the time :)

What replacement shock absorber do you have? We have a 76 Argosy that needs new shocks and we are having trouble finding a substitute for the original part 😕

Hi Tristina! We used these Monroe shocks, there were super affordable on Amazon, and got to us quick on Prime! amzn.to/3rBUJlg
We've been traveling the USA for 4 months now and they've been awesome :)
