You can’t go wrong with Nora Roberts. I’ve read all her books and she’s amazing. I think you would really enjoy her Gallaghers of Ardmore trilogy. It starts with Jewels of the Sun and it’s one of my fave series of hers.
Highly recommend the Gallagers of Ardmore trilogy. One of my favorites of her earlier series. I was happy to see Ashes in the Wind, another favorite from that era.❤️

Here's hoping you like Ashes in the Wind better, although all these books are products of their time. I also see you picked up Brenda Joyce's After Innocence. I loved that book. Must have read it 20 years ago or so. It's set in the Gilded Age period, both in the U.S. and Europe. The heroine is an artist and I think some famous, real life authors, are mentioned in passing.
