Absolutely right. Its disgusting that they do the same crap like Lego. I mean as an addition to a controller ok but not smartphone only. Old smartphones not beeing supported in the future any more, bugs, problems with different systems ... the list goes on anD on. And when they stop developing the app any more the whole system is basically dead. And relying on fans to dissect the thing and macgyver something that works... nope. Good idea torpedoed by smartphone crap.

I really like the new concept. As far as I understand, driving physics and tire wear will be simulated on the smartphone. Are there plans to further utilize these simulations for more sophisticated vehicle settings, e.g. suspension settings?
We don't know now how much modification is possible, but it will definitely have tuning like swapping engines and tuning them. Most likely you can choose between tires and things like that. There will be simulated weather (if you want to) as far as I know, so you will have to change tires. You also have to warm up tires and have an eye on the tire wear.
No real controller, wouldn't buy it.

I want to drift, i want to drive free, I don’t want too climb over the track cause the car ha jumped out …it is the perfect product, but I want to steer and to accelerate how it should be and not to hold a smartphone in my hands. By the way, I also don’t want my kids to hold this thing in their hands !

The approach here is Something the Game-Console Intellivision Amico tried to reach. Bring all generations together having fun while do gaming.
It looks cool, but what happens if the app doesnt receive updates anymore? As soon as the support stops this will sooner or later become a useless product. I can still build and use my Carrera from 20 years ago without an issue but I am not so sure that this will still be usable in 20 years.

If there was AI drivers you could program for certain behavior, and special instructions for the next track design...
Then I just lean back and watch my drivers compete. THAT would be more like being a racing manager.
The cars also need to be able to drive up and down hills, banked curves, uneven surface, uneven width track, jumps...
It needs to break for leading cars at an intersection...

Needs a controller in my opinion. Otherwise the app needs to be solid and that could mean a massive investment of time for Carrera to keep on top of Android and iOS.
This is nothing but Anki Overdrive which came out in 2015. This will fail, I have Anki overdrive and I like it but it doesn’t compare to slot car racing.

Da fahr ich doch lieber ein vernünftiges RC auto. Carrera sollte sich eher auf den slot racing market konzentrieren und dort etwas überarbeiten.
Idee: carrera digital 132 mit verbindung zu einem laptop/PC mit kamera. So kann man online auf Strecken von anderen usern fahren. Latenztechnisch eine herausforderung aber das wäre doch mega cool.

Umm this is the step in the right direction to having rc racing and a track in your basement or game room and have some amazing scale realistic tracks and be able to have full control of the car and run as many cars as the track size will allow to race with out thier being to many cars in the way. Great job Carrera this is part of the hobby market that nobody has done yet and had been needed to get new generations into slot car and rc car racing. I cant wait to get ky hands on this and build a scale half mile oval track using this new technology to have some cool scale realistic oval racing. My only complaint is that you need to have a rc car style transmitter and not phone tilt control that way you have more precise control over the cars unlike with a phone wjere its not as precise. But the cool thing is you can just buy the cars and build your own track like im goibg to do for a oval track. Please release and make dirt oval and asphalt oval stock cars and nascar ones also new gen NASCAR and 70s-2005 generation nascar bodies as well. This is a great statt just get rid of the cell phone function and make a real transmitter that has a screen pn ot for the starting grid and all the stuff the phones do.

My one complaint with systems like these (I have the Sturmkind Dr!ft car with the same control scheme) is that driving by tilting your phone sucks… I love my Dr!ft car, but I would love it 100% more if it allowed for even a game controller to be used to drive with… most newer phones allow for the connection of PlayStation or Xbox controllers to be used… if that could be an option (even if you can’t use a traditional RC controller) I would 120% buy this in a heartbeat!!!
Video game controller support shouldn’t be too hard to implement… even if it’s just for lane changes (since the car is mainly ‘controlled’ by the track and your not actually ‘tilt steering’)

@@freemangaaaaa Es stimmt halt schlichtweg nicht. Ich verfolge Sturmkinds anderes Projekt, DR!FT, seit der Kickstarter Kampagne 2018. Martin, der Gründer, kommt aus dem Modellflug Bereich und hatte nichts mit Anki am Hut. Ich will gar nicht abstreiten, dass Anki Overdrive vielleicht der geistige Nachfolger ist oder als Inspiration gedient hat, aber vom Team her gibt es da meines Wissens nach keine Überschneidungen. Und je mehr man sich damit beschäftigt, um so klarer wird auch, dass Hybrid ein deutlich komplexeres System ist.

Ich finde die Idee super. Erst am vergangenen Weihnachten hatten wir die digitel 143 wieder aufgebaut, und haben uns ständig darüber geärgert, dass man so schnell aus der Bahn fliegt und es somit nie über längere Passagen spannend bleibt. Was etwas schade ist, dass man zwingen ein Smartphone für die Hybrid benötigen wird. Das schränkt enorm ein, da man beispielsweise bei Kindergeburtstagen immer viele Smartphones benötigt. Zudem gibt es nicht wenige Personen, die sich einfach nicht die benötigte App herunterladen möchten, was ich ebenfalls verstehen kann.
Ich hoffe sehr, dass hier noch eine eigene, alternative Lösung von Carrera kommen wird. Sonst war das Unternehmen ja auch immer kreativ bei den Steuerungen.
Die App ist kostenlos, also sollte der Download kein Thema sein. Ohne Smartphone kann es nicht funktionieren weil auf dem Smartphone die KI läuft um das realistische Fahrverhalten, Reifentemperatur, Reifenverschleiß, Lenkverhalten, Kurserkennung, wählbare Fahrhilfen und vieles, vieles mehr zu ermöglichen. Außerdem ist die App natürlich auch nötig um Rennmodi, gewähltes Tuning wie verschiedene Motoren und sonstige Fahrzeugkomponenten zu wählen, die dann natürlich wieder von der KI simuliert werden müssen.

Natürlich! Wenn man für das Rennsystem eine zusätzliche Hardware produziert auf der die Software läuft. Diese muss dann natürlich zwingend erworben werden um das System nutzen zu können. Kostet dann wahrscheinlich läppische 300€ extra, dazu noch ein Controller für gut 30€. Für den Einstieg mit zwei Fahrzeugen und zwei Controllern ist man dann bei ~600€.

Das dieses Rennsystem (oder Rennsimulation) nicht ohne komplexer Hardware und Software funktioniert sollte hoffentlich einleuchtend sein. Ohne wären es einfach RC Autos. Wer das möchte ist mit einem Spielzeug um 40€ zufrieden und hat dann auch einen tollen Controller mit dem er dann auch ganz doll zufrieden ist.
Wer Smartphones verteufelt weil die Dinger heutzutage ja schon prinzipiell zu viel im Alltag verwendet werden und der Meinung ist das früher sowieso alles besser war wird mit diesem System nicht glücklich werden. Genau das Thema haben wir seit Jahren beim großen Bruder von Hybrid (DR!FT)
Da gibt's auch eine kleine Gruppe von Leuten die gegen die verwendung von Smartphones als Plattform protestieren.

Just build better cars with engines that are more identical in terms of performance and with straighter axles.
Don't just rest on the laurels that the Carrera track is just a child's toy. But then it is expensive fun

I had in the past the Anki drive but as I can see here in the pieces of the road it’s visible the pattern for the sensor in the 2016 Anki old and off market product not really smooth maybe it’s not the final version but I’m really think 🤔 now is 2024 must be more improvement of the 2016 what do you think ? 😂
This is a better video for this than what the CES demo video was. This however does need a controller to succeed. RealFX comes to mind for a controller. Of course this is also looking like the old Anki redone. The app for the phone looks good but using the phone to turn etc is not likely to in the long run to keep people interested. I had both versions of the RealFX and Anki years ago and of course it was fun at first. Correct me if I am wrong but another company bought out old Anki stock and now you are allowing the Carrera trademark on this hopefully improved product? Also are you involved at all with the actual manufacturing or are you the primary promoter? Thanks
It does not need a controller to succeed. There is another Product (DR!FT) from the Inventors on the German Market, even more realistic than Hybrid and it also has smartphone controls. There is just a little group in the community that really wishes for a controller, most of them are not that young and simply don't want to accept the change. The controls on smartphone are more than good enough and accurate to work for beginners to hardcore gamers/drivers. Of course you have to learn to control it, it is a racing simulation, not a simple RC Car.
Really neat concept.. Not sure I would take to it right away, as I still enjoy the traditional slot car tracks. Hopefully it isn't as expensive as the 1/24 scale tracks. (my only complaint about Carrera)
The Starter Set with two Porsche 911s and a basic track set will cost below 200€ in Europe (found the first shop to preorder, it costs 180€)

It will be just around 1:50. Sturmkind wanted to make unlicensed fantasy toy cars with 1:64 scale and it wasn't even a Problem on the technical side, but finally they increased the scale a little because now that they are going with real licensed cars, (thanks to the collaboration with Carrera) they want to have more details and overall nicer models. In a stream for the Kickstarter bakers the Inventors and a guy from Carrera explained that this is pretty much the smallest scale for detailed plastic models.
Here is a little clip of the first product Sturmkind has on the (sadly only German/European) Market. It is called DR!FT and has a scale of 1:43. You can see the insane accuracy of the AI simulating the real driving behavior. The AI and the Application for Carrera Hybrid uses more or less the same system, so you can imagine the quality of the driving simulation Carrera Hybrid is going to have. I own a bunch of those DR!FT cars and the realism is mind blowing. The biggest difference is that DR!FT has focus on drifting and Hybrid on racing.

Bin auf jeden Fall gespannt, das mal auszuprobieren.Find ich vor allem interessant, weil der Auf- und Abbau offenbar schnell und unkompliziert ist. Klar hätte ich auch lieber ne Digital 124, aber wenn man keinen Platz hat, um sie dauerhaft aufgebaut zu lassen, bleibt sie aus der Erfahrung mit der Go!!! als Kind leider die meiste Zeit im Karton...Das hier würde ich eher als Zwischenschritt sehen, bevor irgendwann die "richtige" kommt, wenn genug Platz ist :D
Ich wüsste auf jeden Fall gerne, wie groß der Spielspaß im Vergleich zu Sim-Racing mit meinem Lenkrad und Stuhl am PC ist, da gibt es ja die Realismus-Aspekte wie Reifenverschleiß auch...

Vllt ist das technisch bedingt, aber 1:32 fänd ich schon cool.. Und eine größere Fahrzeugauswahl als nur 911er, aber das kommt bestimmt, wenn es sich etabliert.
Im Maßstab 1:50 ... zum Aufbau möglichst großer Rennstrecken.
Ich bin seit Jahren vom großen Bruder DR!FT begeistert. Der größte Reiz daran ist eben was die Entwickler mit "Hybrid gaming" meinen. Eine Simulation am Computer zu fahren ist natürlich eine feine Sache für sich, aber das ganze in die Realität zu holen ist für viele eine ganz andere Erfahrung mit seinen eigenen Vorzügen. Es ist vergleichbar mit dem spielen eines Computerspiels und dem spielen der Brettspiel/Tabletop Variante davon.
Einige in der DR!FT Community sind dann sogar einen Schritt weiter gegangen und haben die Autos mit einer kleinen Kamera mit Sender versehen und fahren so mit VR Brille in FPV.

Driving on tracks where you can't overtake like that, so waiting for a switch, that means a lot of tactics and thinking, pitting, drifting, and a controller in your hand, not a damn phone.
I think this will be a completely new group of users and the users of traditional slot cars will stay with them.

Tolles konzept aber bin auch der Meinung das ein vernünftiger Controller fehlt. Ich mag mein Sturmkind Auto sehr aber die Steuerung übers Handy ist schrecklich. Das Dr!ft Car dient mittlerweile einfach nur als teurer Staubfänger. Wirklich schade das es keine Controller dafür gibt. Ich hoffe es wird später noch einer nachgerüstet ansonsten sehe ich keine Zukunft für die Hybrid

You could probably drive it in the track, but the functionality would be lost… the car ‘reads’ the track surface to know where it is and help itself stay on the track like a slot car.

The service staff of the Carrera electric vehicle combination kit manufacturer are too bad. Their website membership and shipping system are only limited to European countries and ignore Asian countries, such as Taiwan. Japan. South Korea. China. etc.
Wie soll ich das mit Kindern spielen, die noch kein Handy haben?
Natürlich ist das für einige leider ein Thema. Ohne Smartphone würde es aber leider nicht funktionieren, denn die Software ist sehr komplex und simuliert ein realistisches Fahrverhalten. Die kleinen Autos fahren nicht wie Spielzeugautos, sondern wir ihre großen Vorbilder.
Ohne Smartphone müsste für das Rennsystem ein eigener kleiner Computer entwickelt werden, der dann natürlich auch gekauft werden muss um das System zu nutzen. Das wäre leider sehr teuer. 🫤 Ohne die verwendung des Smartphones wäre so ein Produkt quasi unmöglich zu vermarkten, weil man dann für den Einstieg wahrscheinlich mit ~500€ rechnen muss. (2 Fahrzeuge und Strecke kosten im Einsteigerset vorraussichtlich ~180€, wenn man dazu noch zwei Controller und einen kleinen Computer kaufen müsste...)
Ich kann mir vorstellen das die Entwicklung in einiger Zeit vielleicht zulässt ein einziges Smartphone für alle Fahrzeuge als Plattform zu nutzen, dann benötigt man "nur" einen zusätzlichen Controller pro Fahrzeug/Spieler. Momentan wäre das aber schwierig, weil heutige Smartphones nicht so einfach mehrere Bluetooth Verbindung ermöglichen... Naja man kann ja hoffen.

@@CarreraToysOfficial das Augenmerk liegt dabei leider mehr auf das Handy als auf der Bahn. Somit könnte man die Bahn wahrscheinlich auch weg lassen und alles über das Handy machen.

Es gibt Handyaufsätze, die wir bereits bei Dr!ft mit Erfolg verwenden. Funktioniert dann wie mit einem Controller 😊 LG

No you didn’t. Just because the track looks similar to anki it doesn’t make it the same or even comparable. Anki has lane changing and weapons where as this is a fully controlled rc car that mimics a real race car. It’s pretty much like playing forza/gran turismo but there’s physical car and track. The partner company, Sturmkind makes a little drift car that behaves very realistically and I can confirm since I own one

Ich fahre schon seit über 20 jahren Carrera und mein größter wunsch von Carrera währe ein Wireless Controller in Gun form wie vom Frankenslot für die digitale bahn den der daumendrücker Controller verkrampft die handn nach einiege zeit und wir Männer haben auch große Hände. Und das umschalten von Spuren ist sehr schwierig mit dem knopf bei der Geschwindigkeit. Das haben schon viele die ich kenne damit zu kämpfen. Allso so ein Gun Controller währe heut zu tage ein super teil von Carrera.Sonst ist die Carrera Digital ein traum und das wir es immer bleiben für Groß und Klein. 👍🚘🏁

Not for me, same Like Anki but with a Platform Like Sturmkind... No Power behind, No Drifts, No burnouts, a Smartphone is your remote, 🤮 why Not a real remote Like RC Cars, Traxxas, Tamiya and co... Such little realistic looking Cars with Power Like the ones on slot with a really good remote for really fine Settings what you need for drifring and you have the same result Like real Drift Feeling, No one need a rotating Platform to do some drifts, Look what Kyosho Mini z can do, why Not Something like this but racetrack without rails ? So U can drive in the track like digital, then u can do the same Like on sloting and you can drive around your living room but much more faster and with Something like this you have Definitely more action and fun... A digital Offroad Race track system with real remote to control the car, Power and Speed behind without a Platform what Real driving behavior only simulated and this will BE a Game changer for all Slotcar Fans... Everyone would buy it, Or don't you think so ? 🤔 So we need No KI, we need No Smartphone, we don't need a rotating Platform only cars, only a system like digital 132/24 what can scan the Cars and remote... 🤷🏼♂️ Sorry for my Bad english but i give my best 😅

@@CarreraToysOfficial well, on hybrid you have positiv and negativ sides, positiv, u can finally drive outside of the track, cars look realistic, typical Carrera design.
Negative: rotating platform,
Slow, can't drift like real, all of them is a simulation u need a A dusty and hair-free track... A household with animals makes it harder, before u drive, u have to clean.
Look what rc cars can do, they can drift like real cars and don't need a rotating platform, they have A real chassis, the better it is, the more real the car behaves, logic, for drift u need power or a platform what simulate this all... Well hybrid is not bad, but not better like sloting, u have one eye on your car and one of the smartphone, for young kids, 5-10, impossible cause many have not The feeling, quickly become nervous and swipe like crazy over the mobile phone display. With a proper remote control, like real rc cars, younger children can also play with it more easily...
Meine Idee, The whole concept should be set up in the same way as on the slot track, you have tracks that you can put together, but with a rough surface, Twice as wide, but without rails... All features what u need, optional u can look on the display how many rounds you have and on which position... You know what I mean? A combo like from digital and real rc and the track is optional, If you can make floors out of it, that would be great, but the track has to be stiff for that... Hope my reaction give you new ideas, Keep up the good work team carrera, you're on the right way, but leave out the rotating platform... 😁👍

Please Develope a proper controller, not just this smart phone app stuff like the brick company. Bitte liebes Carrera Team macht bitte nicht den Fehler und entwickelt ein non Smartphone controller dazu. Macht nicht den selben Fehler der Baustein Hersteller.

Hi, ja vielleicht ist das ironisch gemeint. Mein Kanal bedient die Nische der Nische. Ich hab das Set vorbestellt und werd es mit meinen Kids testen. Wenn ich es gut finde stell ich es vor. Falls nicht, überlege ich mir das. 😊
