Just got this range finder and Vortex does not do as good a job explaining the HCD vs LOS mode as you just did. So, thank you for this review. Just subscribed.
Replacing a Sig kilo 2000 that died with this. Only real difference is the Sig had an adjustable eyepiece. My eyes aren’t what the use to be. Hopefully the glass is good enough to keep me in the game. I several Vortex scopes all Diamondbacks. Love them.
Top tier review. Absolutely subscribed. Thank you. "....I gotta' go bear hunting now." Copyright that, and put it on a T-Shirt...what a way to end a conversation 🙂
It is the true distance, but when you add in an angle, gravity has an impact on the trajectory. This means you need to adjust what you're aiming for in order to compensate for that and hit what you're aiming at.
@ I wouldn’t have guessed gravity would change trajectory much at an angle compared to a flat shot at at short to medium distances…. Interesting I’ll have to do some research on that
@bill_y4762 Yeah, try it out. If you aim for the LOS distance at a steep angle especially, you'll hit high. You can get a cut chart made through Archers Advantage and see the differences in cut distances paired with different angles vs. What the actual LOS distance is.
@ Ahh… high makes sense. If you’re shooting flat the bullets energy is moving it o to the force of gravity (instead of overcoming it as at an angle)…. Hadn’t thought about that. Ballistics is pretty fascinating stuff. I would assume then its the same shooting down (you would actually hit high without correction?)

Thanks man! Glad I could clear it up for you. And much appreciated for the sub!
one of the most helpful reviews I've seen about this product. Thank you very much for explaining the features brother.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching. 👊🏼
Just bought one.I am impressed..I have the older fury range finder Binoculars this Dimond back range finder is faster and reaches out farther.
Awesome! Yes, super fast ranges!
Thanks for the review !! My Leupold lasted about 3 years and cant see the led reading on it hardly. Moving on to a Vortex with a lifetime warranty
Nice!! My pleasure
I'm not a hunter but this is the exact hands on / field experience review I was looking for! Thanks a lot!
Glad it helped! 👊🏼
Good video….. I purchased one last month for long range shooting.
Thanks! That's awesome!

That's awesome Stephen! Best of luck!
How does it perform in fog or a heavy mist. My old Nikon would not range at all in the slightest fog or mist

Haha! Hey, thanks man. Might have to do that!
Wait why no aim for the LOS distance? Isn’t that the true distance?
