Hey, everyone! We're enjoying more of The Long Dark this month. This part was recorded before the Game Awards, but we do end up talking about them in a later episode this weeks. Thanks for watching!
39:47 Fun fact! The Minnesota DNR spent literally an entire decade denying that Minnesota had lynx that had migrated down from Canada, despite a massive quantity of photos, trail camera footage, and eyewitness accounts of lynx in Minnesota!
@@dsquared331 Because they'd actually have to start managing the species, and the management of predator species like the lynx is politically contentious at the best of times.
Yeah but when immigrants are eating pets and local wildlife illegally, then when the government ignores it we should listen to them, despite the video evidence. Apologies for introducing politics like that, I just couldn't help but think of the comparison.
Pretty much, yeah. Lynx aren't as contentious as wolves because they don't tend to go for large livestock but they will gladly go for chickens or other small livestock if they see the opportunity. Small pets as well.
I’m greatly amused by Zach’s mentality of not liking change whenever he hears about something new in the game, meanwhile Mike presents everything added in updates with glee.
I live in the mountains and a pack of timber wolves that were being tracked for study wandered into my county a few months ago, I remember the day I read that notification because that very night, my dog woke me up with his growling at the door. I look out the window expecting another bear, but no, it's a frikkin wolf.. just casually walking by my house. One thing that surprised the heck outta me was that it was A LOT bigger than I thought it would be.

Mike, you are absolutely right about going full bore on certain nasty terrain. Once drove a F-250 with a woodchipper through what was essentially semi frozen mud. My only concern on that stretch of dirt road turned mud, was keeping momentum and not breaking traction for too long. So while my attention was solely focused on going forward, the wood chipper was being whipped back and forth like Willow Smith's hair. According to my coworkers in the truck behind me, the chipper was close to smacking the side of the truck at about once every 30 seconds. Had I slowed down too much at any point, the chipper would have slammed into me and I would have sunk to the frame in the mud.
40:00 i was in northern Arizona on a trip and had a black bear run in front of my car. Everyone i told about it was skeptical of it being a bear and probably would not have believed me, had i not come from Alaska.

Edit: Especially since they're single player games and there shouldn't be any worry of META to be considered.
