Holy SHIT. The rendering may not be that great, but god DAMN the animation! Look at the sheer amount of expression in toriel! This is seriously, hands down, the BEST undertale animation I've seen spawn from the fandom. 11/10

You know.... It is too often that we forget that Frisk is nothing more than a CHILD. Seriously. mad props. Even though some of the animation looked a little janky here and there from the perspective of a viewer the amount of effort you put in to how Frisk should act as a kid is staggering. Thank you for making this :)

It’s such a crime this hasn’t been continued yet. This is my favorite undertale animation and one of my favorite sfm animations in general. Still after all these years, excellent work to you!!!
That's, by far, the absolute best 3d UNDERTALE animation I have ever seen, even I tho it's 7 years old. I can't just understand how "UNDERTALE if it was realistic" is more well-known than THIS. Movement is fluid and natural, Flowey's encounter is straight up perfect.
I understand why this still got no continuation tho', that's the whole 9 months on ONE animation, and big part of it is prologue, where's not much of movement.
I hope that you'll find, or already found a way to use your amazing talent.
9 months and I'll say it was hella worth it. Probably the best interpretation of the opening sequence of the game imaginable.
I think with this as a good stepping stone, you'd be able to get community members working with you to get a second episode coming out faster. Hopefully Toby Fox sees this.

This is the BEST Undertale fan creation I have ever seen! Not only did you NAIL retelling the opening of the game, you improved upon it, using the advantages of SFM to expand in great detail. I would LOVE to see more of this.

Omg! You did such a good job on all of the characters! I really hope you make more of these, I love how frisk is not able to figure out what's going on, and its really emotional. Please make more of these! Flowey is nice and creepy after he hits frisk, and toriel is so well done! Just the animation is very impressive! This is the best undertale animation I've seen!

Look, I've seen many animations and tributes to this game, but this one definitely takes the cake. Did you made this all by yourself?
EVERYTHING is SO WELL PUT TOGETHER, the animations are so fluid and realistic that it feels like the work of a whole studio, the voices, especially frisk's and toriel's fit perfectly, the music and the intro... are simply wonderful.
The inclusion of extra scenes gives a lot more life to the characters, and the extra dialogue too!
And man, that beat down the poor kid took from the flower, I was so shocked I actually had to pause the video at 7:57 to take in what just happened, it was frickin savage. (a bit exaggerated how toriel got rid of flowey, but hey, I'm not complaining, that was cool as fk.)
If someone made a kickstarter for a full animation of this, trust me, I'd pay for it.

I did a fair bit of it by myself, but it's nothing compared to the hours spent by those who created the maps, the models, and of course the time poured by Toby and his buddies on the game. This video would not exist without them!
Oh I bet, it must be hard to find the required models and maps to make an accurate story, if you wanted to make a second chapter you would have to find models for all the enemies in the ruins, and the exact map, which I've never seen been done (but that's just probably me).
I just can't get over the animation, Toriel's expressions at 9:52 were simply beautiful, she looked like a real person there, I don't think anyone has captured her kindness before the way you did there. You make me wanna learn how to use blender or something to help making this in some way.
If you plan on doing more of this then I'll wait, even if it takes ages for a new chapter to be made, it's worth it.

Okay. I have a few words to say about this...
First of all: HOLY SHIT?! IS THIS EVEN REAL?!
Second: Omg, you must spend so many hours on such an incredible animation! The details, the movements, the voice-acting, the lights and shadows... These are all pure gold and I'm surprised/shocked to see that your work doesn't equal people's recognition for you! You should have a lot more views and subscribers than that!
It must take an eternity to make a scene! Let alone a 12 minute long animation! This is colossal!
I sincerely hope for you to enjoy what you're doing and feel pleasure doing this, because I legitimately smiled watching this.
To be honest, I was septic at the beginning. I was preparing myself for a cringy animation with awful dubs and movement and character's personality. But no, instead, I found something worth a ton of efforts and ten thousand times the views you have the moment I write this!
If, by any chance, you plan on making another one, I won't try to rush you, but know that you have my full support. Take your time, let your inspiration flow!

This is so amazing! I have no words. Very realistically portrayed. I like the fact that Frisk instead of walking normally has trouble walking due to the fact that they fell down, but they don't give up - thanks to their determination.

Appreciate it, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in a series like this. In the nine months between when I started work and finished, too much of a bad name was developed for 3D Undertale videos, and there is nothing sensible I can do to fix that.

Motion editor, pretty much all the way except for graph for a few timing adjustments. SFM's graph editor has weird quirks and crashes SFM way too often for me to rely on it, unfortunately.
Unlike many other Undertale Animation videos that have tons of views but lack many good qualities. Your video actually is really good and make me wish it eventually come as a blockbuster animation movie. Props to you

I love switching things up and add few extras to Flowey as well as Toriel magic performances, Frisk being hurt because how can you not be hurt by fall from that height like that!?. I honestly thought this was going to feel like a soap opera, nope, blown away, this animation feels better than almost anything else CGI that I have seen that is undertale related.
If there are to be follow-ups to this, I'll say this; you've got me hooked xD
As for my thoughts (WARNING: long comment is loooooong), I thought Flowey was dead-on with his "nice guy" facade and then his homicidal side coming out, I thought Frisk's characterization was really cute and fitting of a kid who is completely new to the "world" he has fallen into, and the fight with Toriel fighting off Flowey was awesome. One thing I friggin' love about this too is Toriel's voice; it sort of reminds me of Susan Egan's voice (Megara from Hercules, Lin/Rin from Spirited Away's English dub, and Rose Quartz from Steven Universe, the latter of which it reminds me of the most). It's a perfect fit for her character. Overall, it looks really good for a free TH-cam series, and it's faithful to the source material and the little embellishments there are to it here and there work out great. I'm surprised there aren't more views for this, because I feel like it deserves some more attention.

But honestly this is so good! I love the scenes where Frisk is limping and when he/she gets hit by the friendliness pellets. It really brings it to life that Frisk can talk as well. Good job on this man!
Just the snippet of "they're real!" & flowey's reaction would have made this one of my favorite undertale videos of all time. The way she touches her face as she says it, is just the way only a child would. Like, those little things add so much, I don't think I've ever felt this transported into the world of Undertale. But oh my god, a whole 12 minutes of this? This is incredible. I can't say anything anyone else hasn't already said, just... holy mother of god this is a masterpiece.

I actually have no words to do this justice but... _Oh my god._
This has to be the best animated Undertale... ANYTHING I've ever seen. The movement and personality behind it is amazing, the face animations for both expressions and dialogue is phenomenal. The models... Kinda rub me the wrong way, mainly because these models I believe weren't designed with this kind of... Quality in mind I suppose, lighting and polygons are the most distracting things about them, but they're just overshadowed by... _Literally everything else._ The voice acting and sound direction is astounding, and captures the characters damn near perfectly (Frisk sounds a bit Pitch shifted at times, I'm not sure if that was either a sound issue, or if it was just an edit I picked up a few times), and just, uh....
If this had original, upgraded models, fully modeled environments, and a live performed (lord protect me, orchestrated) soundtrack, I would absolutely _pay_ to have this be an official Undertale animated Movie. I don't care how god damn much it would cost.

Among the only things I feel need to be changed is some of the expressions are a bit...strange, and possibly unfitting for the situations they correspond to. Interesting also but pretty cool to have a fully voiced Frisk, which I think is basically unheard of so far outside of things like comic dubs.

Two years later and I find myself enjoying this still, I know this was probably a one off, but as a whole, it probably could have been a series.
For me, SFM videos are products of what I am lucky to have on hand, as it's very difficult to have custom resources built for one's purposes, even commissioned. In this context, there just happened to be an excellent Toriel at the birth of the idea. Without it this video never exists. (Not to disparage the other wonderful free creations that comprise the work, of course!)
So I was quite fortunate to have the opportunity to create this one animation. When it comes down to it, a long series would require either impossible fortune (an army of artists creating all the assets in Undertale just for fun in a timely manner - Snowdin alone is a colossal undertaking) or a budget I could never hope to scrounge up, as Undertale is not my IP and I am not a wealthy man.
I agree with that for sure, and the voice actor you used for her was indeed very talented as well. I do hope though that if one day all the assets are made that perhaps, in the future, you'd consider more. I guess the reason I like it so much was cause it actually felt, in someways, like it could of been an old CG VHS from back in the old days.
I would absolutely try to make more if I had all the assets. But at some point you realize Toby could pull off Undertale primarily because the crucial difficult elements were the writing and the music. Both of which he approached (in my opinion) prodigy-level. In that regard he is a truly unique talent. The rest was indie-level, and that he could hand to others and expect a good return. Or in the case of the programming, squeak by on himself.
I can animate, I can adapt for screenplays, I can direct the camera and actors, I can edit, I can kinda map, but the truly difficult requirement for success is in the world building. The modeling, the texturing, the countless man hours. It's not putting together interactive drawings, but movie sets and digital actors that hold up from all angles. I'm talking about the kind of effort that went into making the Lord of the Rings believable as a trilogy. (Or perhaps a better analogy is Wreck-it-Ralph. Again, the work of a huge studio.) Once you're past the Ruins, Undertale opens up into a gigantic, aesthetically diverse world that would multiply exponentially in complexity when translated to 3D. And that is *way* beyond my current means.
I appreciate your support, and I'm glad this episode exists for others to enjoy. I had a lot of fun making it.

That Frisk model isn't really made for animations like this. It's very simplistic, and I was constantly struggling against it.

There is always only one thing that makes me love an SFM, and that is lipsync. All I can say is that you did a damn fine job at it and this has to be one of my top five favorite videos.
This animation needs more views and exposure by many people, I like how Frisk now has personality that I find quite fitting. Also the animation, camera work and voice acting/sound are all top notch. I hope you will make more videos in the future.

limitations. Something that will always bug me will be the horrific
banding in the volumetric lighting. But it does give it that weird old
video game look when there wasn't enough color depth to depict
complexity, so I guess there's that!
