You lost me when you said to burry the fire pit in sand when done. Embers stay hot enough for hours to seriously burn a bare foot if stepped on

All of your dumb comments 🙄 what he made was a circle bonfire with a seating area by just using sand...it's a very unique and innovative idea💡 screw all the haters with no imagination you guy's did a great job!

And close the pit which you have dug for seating or a car can stuck in it in due to low visibility or in low lightning conditions

the part where you put the lighter fluid in whilst the flame is still there is a huge no no it is not safe the flame will 90% of the time travel into the container and blow up so know that

Step two: now that you have a smoldering log and not an actual fire, just pack up and drive home.

If you don't have / don't want to use lighter fluid (I don't recommend it because of the smell / danger / cost):
Keep a jug of water nearby if in wooded conditions.
Split wood / collect dry sticks of varying sizes:
Pencil, dime, nickel, quarter, bottle, and finally log thickness.
You might want a lot of pencil / dime thickness in case the fire goes out later.
Don't bother with rotted wood that doesn't snap because this will burn fast or be harder to catch (more holes inside wood).
Break all sticks into 12 - 18 inch pieces.
Keep a long bottle length stick as your "fire poker" so you won't have to touch the hot fire.
Build up a small teepee shape with the pencil / dime thickness with some tinder at the base (paper, birch bark, wood shavings). This will produce good starting embers.
Light the tinder at the base so it catches the pencil / dime thickness sticks.
Once those are caught, slowly advance to the next size up and try to maintain a teepee shape. If the fire looks like it's going to die, go a size down.
After theres a sizable coal bed for the fire, big dry logs should be easy to catch. Smaller pieces burn quicker and brighter but don't burn as long.
Keep adding big logs or bottle thickness logs until tired / run out.
If there are good coals but no fire, try blowing on the coal bed / adding a handful of small sticks so it can catch.
Keep all excess wood in a dry location in case it rains overnight, I'd advise not keeping it in your car or tent since they might have bugs inside of them.
A tarp / under your car works fine as long as you remember.
I don't ever use lighter fluid, cotton balls / wood shavings / paper does just as well for keeping the initial flame.

Oh yummy. Lighter fluid marshmallows, how gross. You can start a fire easily without lighter fluid. And you can't "roast" a marshmallow over flames, you can however burn and scorch it that way. If you want the perfect roasted marshmallow hold it carefully over nice hot coals. It gets perfectly brown on the outside and soft and gooey inside.
