Still one of my favorites videos. Now, once again into boat cruising but still have the dually. Maybe one day I will be able to attend BM. It would be super cool to meet the divers, maybe be a volunteer, and watch the man burn. I have many memories for the temple. Having jumped static line in the early 80's brings back memories. High altitude, high risk, high speed, very high skill, and very high individual and group reward!
I can not tell you how many times I have watched this video! Having jumped four times static line with military round surplus chutes in the early 80's was much different. The evolution/revolution of the sport to daring common people has been a beautiful thing to watch! Fly high, be safe, and have fun!
@Henri Bourrellis Four jumps were completed back in the day. Since then I processed the hobby to stunt kite flying on the beach and a few other wide open spaces. Getting too old to take up this hobby again. Getting back into boating now but would love to attend BM. 🙃
That has got to be the best feeling ever to free fall that long and then just deploy some man made material and miraculously just walk it out Still blows my mind we figured this stuff out. Can you imagine the first guy to ever jump...
Very cool. I hope to do this exact thing at BM one day (you need minimum 150 jumps (200 to land in the city center) plus your own rig, last I checked). Just curious-I know it's hot on the ground at BM, but isn't it a little cold at 13K feet?
Was this at noon? One night or early morning 2013, a man asked for help finding their way back to their camp. We walked him until her had his bearings and then he said, tomorrow at noon, look up...we'll be skydiving... So, I wonder if this is that group!
TRAVELandSKYDIVE it possibly could of been a fake gun, but also he is in the state of Nevada which is a open carry state, so guns in Nevada can be carried in public.
NOT at Burning Man tho, it had to be fake, there's no way on earth there'd be guns there. Back in the beginning days there were but they quickly put a stop to that
if you have the money and time...hell yeah...just make sure to go to a cheap drop zone that has constant good weather and you can jump 10 times per day if you want to... i did almost 40 jumps in 55 days just in weekends mainly
You seem to not appreciate the skill and danger of decending through the atmosphere at 120 mph, with about one minute to have interaction with other skydivers, while at the same time judging your safe chute deployment attitude, altitude, position, temperature, oxygen, and safe landing strategy. Not as simple as it looks. An extreme sport best left to special people! Have fun!
