Keeping the legs straight is a biggie too. Capt. Peter B Wright use to put on a display with a sailfish chair and a rubber matt than had a hump in it that you could rest your heels against so you could stand up (and not slip) and sit back in your bucket so you never bent at the knees. I see so many people with bent knees that don't have a clue how to fight a big fish from a chair. This guy has it right (straight legs) but you really don't need a foot rest.

Footrest too low. The entire fight is with your legs.
