It’s been a busy week but I had to make sure to catch up so I can watch this video! (And Star Wars Explained) I thought these first two episodes were fun and I’m excited for all the reveals and lore that will come this season. Pirates have been a fun addition to live action SW so far. Jude Law’s character is giving me Jedi Jack Sparrow (I’m assuming he’s the pirate from the opening scene)

I think Silvo, Jude Laws character, is another Jedi who survived Order 66. But he chose the exile/career as a pirate and he even became Captain of a ship until the recent mutiny. But it was a fun start to the series, I'm curious where the journey will lead us!
@ i watched it and loved it! I really appreciate your effort in covering as many MCU, DCU, and Star Wars projects as possible. I’m personally really excited for the new dcu but I understand it’s a lot to cover. Thanks again
I really enjoyed the first two episodes! And the reason why they have the old money is propably because the planet's been hidden (?) from the galaxy since the old republic times. But also again: why that? Cant wait to find out in the next weeks
Loved the shout-out to the planet Aldhani, first seen in Andor. Sad to hear it's a sulfurous bog planet now... I wonder if the Empire destroyed it after the events in Andor?
I feel like I've already given all my thoughts over on the Discord Server. I am surprised that you didn't mention that Captain Silvo and Jod Na Nawood are implied to be the same character. They weren't even trying to mask his voice in the opening pirate raid, and he gets credit in the first episode when you never actually see his face until the second episode. Also Captain Silvo? That's got to be a play on Long John Silver from Treasure Island. I'm sure there's probably a ton of pirate names pulled from various books, movies, and serials, even if their names are never spoken.
@@AbitofEverything4U My dad didn't, but he also relies a lot on captions. He new it had to be Jude Law since his name was in the credits, but he didn't realize that Captain Silvo and Jod Na Nawood are highly likely to be the same character.
Haha, I also had very low expectations of this series, or rather, very low optimism about myself being part of its target audience! So I enjoyed these first two episodes a lot more than I thought I would. Despite the elements that are obviously meant to appeal to kids, which had me mostly rolling my eyes at periodic brief moments, it was still overall fun to watch, and the mysteries in relation to the greater Star Wars universe have me intrigued. So it's a lot like Ms. Marvel in that regard. Personally, I'm theorizing that the "Great Work" is nothing more than their name for what is essentially the American Dream -- a society where individuals can work to achieve their goals of wealth and luxury, through good education and hard work. That's why their schools put heavy emphasis on financial education, and why the planet looks like a Star Wars version of suburban America. The Great Work is basically just all about maintaining and perfecting that way of life on At-Attin. Of course, it would be even cooler if the Great Work was a greater mysterious purpose that will eventually be revealed, but it doesn't seem like that's where this series is headed. The point seems to be that At-Attin's "Great Work" really isn't all that great. (I actually have an alternate thought about the Great Work that I'll put in a separate comment.) My theory about At-Attin itself is that it was once part of the Old Republic, kind of on the outskirts, but very rich in natural resources. They saw the rise of the Empire happening (with their skills at observing trends, like the stock market), and they knew they had to protect their planet from being exploited, so they used their advanced technology to hide their planet, and wipe its existence from Republic records. Thus, by the time of the Empire, At-Attin became 100% self-sufficient, and a legend spread by those who remembered it existing. Just like the Jedi. As for the Jude Law character, I'm leaning toward him not being a Jedi at all, but faking it using some magnetic device. I don't think he's really a prisoner, either. It just doesn't make sense that he would be stuck in that jail cell when he could've gotten that key at any time. I suspect he overheard the kids saying they were from At-Attin, and now he's gonna try to go there with them, and pretending to be a Jedi imprisoned with them is the best way to gain their trust.
Okay, my other thought about the Great Work. When I first heard them mention the Great Work, my immediate first thought was of a Star Trek novel trilogy called Star Trek: Destiny, written around 2008, in which a Starfleet crew stumbled upon an alien race called the Caeliar, who had highly advanced technology but kept their entire planet hidden and their existence a secret from the rest of the galaxy, thus anybody unlucky enough to land on their planet wasn't allowed to leave. Sound familiar? Their society's purpose was what they referred to as the "Great Work", which was basically to observe the known universe and search for other civilizations like their own. It would be pretty interesting if this provided some of the ideas for the At-Attin society.
Very interesting theories on the "Great Work". I agree, it does sound like that Star Trek novel. There's definitely something strange going on with that planet!
I don’t know if it’s just an Easter egg, or maybe a clue… In the High Republic books, one of the topics they cover is that the Republic Chancellor at the time, Lina Soh, wanted to be remembered for these grand projects that she referred to as… her Great Works. Perhaps this was one of those projects, based around this accounting culture, and then became lost, and passed into rumour as a “treasure planet”…?
Anyone else find it odd we didn’t get any background on KB’s family life? We saw a glimpse into all the other kids home lives. Could KB be a humanoid? Some sort droid? A clone? Someone who is basically Fern’s friend/playmate/babysitter? I found it odd she made no reference to her parents or any relatives in the first two episodes. May be digging too deep early on but might be something to keep an eye on.
Taken me a while to get to this video because it's taken me a while to watch the first two episodes. Gonna be honest that was partly because I was not really able to stay focused. That being said I didn't know about the timeline placement which is ... interesting. Things for me picked up only late in episode 2 so I'm hoping things pick up going forward. Didn't realize there was so many call-backs besides the Rebels one. The bit where they're trying to get the key made me think of Baby Groot in Guardians 2 personally. Jude Law's character confuses me a little because if he couild get the key so easily why didn't he leave? Hopefully this mystery is more interesting than Acolyte's.
Yeah, Jude Law's character is definitely a mystery. I agree, if he could have escaped earlier, why didn't he? Very interesting mystery so far...similar to you, I'm hoping the payoff is better than Acolyte's last few episodes.
About Neel Neel Ganesha is the Blue Incarnation of Lord Ganesha in Hindu iconography So - I don't think you mentioned that - but I wanted to point out the Ganesh Connection ( as follower of these traditions, it was immediate and obvious to me )
It's okay, my friend, you don't need to apologize, and I know you've been done hard work to do. I know you've been tired for 2 days, and it is alright. I have everything to say of Star Wars: Skelton Crew for episodes 1-2. 1. So Jude Law is obviously the pirate captain who got mutinied against in the first scene, right? The other pirates turned on him and threw him in the brig where he meets the kids, and he wants to get to their homeworld to claim the treasure for himself. Predictably aside, I did think the episodes were decent. SM-33 is my favorite character so far. A pirate droid is such a cool concept, and they executed it quite well. And I'm very intrigued by the mystery of the kid's homeworld. I'm guessing they've been quarantined away from the rest of the galaxy since the Old Republic era since they've been mythologized in the modern era. It's ironic that Whim wants to get away from home when he's been living on an adventure the whole time. I also enjoyed the various references to Rebels and Andor. I guess the Lothal Jedi Temple must be very ancient for Whim to know the stories about it. Pretty fun time, and I'm excited for more. 2. he's definitely the pirate captain, probably not a real Jedi, just a character with some tricks up his sleeve, a Long John Silver type if you will. 3. Is it possible that it’s a misdirect? That he *isn’t* the captain from the first episode? His name being in the credits seems pretty solid evidence that it is, in fact, him. The voice also felt very recognizable. But I also wouldn’t be too surprised if it was a deliberate misdirect? I had bouncing around in my head (before going back to confirm Jude Law’s name in the credits of episode 1) was that the masked pirate captain might be the same captain that crashed the ship on At Attin. But that might be too twisty for a kid-centric show. If the masked pirate SOUNDS like Jude Law, WALKS like Jude Law, it probably is. It's still fun to toss around silly, though! 4. The way they talk about At Attin, it sounds like it's been lost for a really long time. Definitely since before the opening scene of the show. 5. I guess the only real question is of his force sensitivity and why he seemingly let himself be imprisoned without escape. 6. I felt they had that away too easily. they didn't even do a good job masking his voice. And then they put him first in the credits. Way to spoil the twist. 7. their homeworld totally isn't shady at all. Just have a bunch of droids trying to inspire their kids to be "analysts" and "supervisors" Also, starships aren't permitted, and no one is allowed to go past the Great Barrier. 8. I noticed the supervisor called it “The Republic” not “The New Republic” and Wim has old republic credits. Def seems like they’ve been out of contact with the wider galaxy since before the clone wars. 9. I don't think it's the First Order. It looks like they've been living on the planet for decades, maybe even centuries. At this point in time, the First Order hasn't been established yet. 10. this was tailor-made for me. I loved it. It was so much fun. Star Wars and 80s adventure is perfect. Cannot wait for next week and to see where it goes. I liked the twist that they were from the mythical treasure planet. 11. Let’s just say Wim’s dad won’t be in contention for father of the year anytime soon, and he's a good dad. He's clearly single parent because it appears mom has died. He's doing his best. Everything he did was normal single parent stuff just trying to keep their kid safe. 12. What if it is more sinister? A planet cover for the rise of the First Order? What is really going on under the planet. What is the 'Great Purpose' the school overseers were concerned about. 13. Even if it isn't first order; the security droids had some suspicious intonation as well as 'the forbidden forest'. That and how they were hiding the stars. 14. I don't know about First Order, being as they're using OLD Republic credits as new minted currency. I'll have to rewatch more carefully tomorrow to see if they say "new republic" or just "republic" when addressing the kids. I think they've been hiding a very long time. 15. Mint condition old Republic credits that the planet just thinks are every day republic credits and all the pirates call it credits, Wim calls them 'dataries' when he stuffs them in his sock on the Pirate Starport. I had to look that term up as currency during the Galactic Republic. When Captain Silvo is boarding that heavy hauler ship hough, the hauler captain quotes the 'New Republic Decree'. The Undersecretary Fara from the Office of the Supervisor talks about the 'Great Purpose' as well as 'The Great Work' and how to keep the 'Republic' strong. So there is a bit of a disconnect there since the buried ship the Onyx Cinder has been under trees and foliage for a while. When the teaching droid was talking about the differences of analysing liquidity for those on planet and for others on the other side of the 'barrier'; it reminded me of how much Fara in her blue cloak looks like Mon Mothma. Mothma's daughter has a different name, though. Could the planet be Chandrilla? Or is it more likely this suspicious planet is a First Order feeder school? Curious to see if they show us more of the wall murals like the one in Ferns home. What they reference. 16. Since they are still using Old Republic credits, it seems like they don't even know the republic fell and gave rise to the empire, which has been over thrown by the new Republic. So, who put up the great barrier, and why is the planet okay with being cut off from the greater galaxy? There are definitely a lot of questions about the overseer and life choices test. 17. There’s no way that school was a reflection of our society because if it were a bunch of students would have seen that undersecretary and yelled “empire did nothing wrong” and “Death Star was an inside job” so either Aldhani used to be a sulferous bog in the distant past (SM-33 could be hundreds or thousands of years old), or the Empire really messed it up after Andor. 18. One thing I didn't catch in the first episode but realized in the second. The Jedi he wanted to be and that they were playing fighting as were Old Republic Jedi. They have zero idea about the modern state of the Jedi. 19. Even despite Luke Skywalker's accomplishments, the Empire did an extremely thorough job, erasing the living memory and even courage to talk about the Jedi or The Force. In the other media that takes place post-ROTJ, people still think the Jedi and Sith are myths at best. There just isn't any censorship anymore. That seems to at least be the case in the book Force Collector and Series Resistance. 1 more thing: Why did you put of dark helmet from space balls? And Why did you put of smee from Peter Pan?
Excellent theories about Jude Law's character and the "Great Work". Lots of cool mysteries in this show! As for Dark Helmet, I put him in there because he was playing with his Star Wars figures and it was just like Wim doing that as well. As for Smee, I put him in there because SM-33 is so similar to the spelling of SMEE.
I expected you to say “Hello, MCU fans! Today…” I liked the first 2 episodes as well and I hope it isn’t as hated as The Acolyte though I haven’t seen that show so I don’t know if it really was that bad or was exaggerated

I feel like that these Star Wars Dinsey+ shows are equivalents of these different Marvel Cinematic Universe films here we go! Star Wars The Mandalorian Season 1 is the equivalent of Iron Man, Star Wars The Mandalorian Season 2 is the equivalent of Iron Man 2, Star Wars The Book of Boba Fett is the equivalent of Captain America The First Avenger, Star Wars The Mandalorian Season 3 is the equivalent of Iron Man 3, Star Wars Ahsoka Season 1 is the equivalent of Avengers Infinity War and Star Wars Skeleton Crew is the equivalent of Guardians of the Galaxy, I can't wait to see what The Mandalorian & Grogu movie will be the equivalent of from the MCU, at least I know that Dave Filoni's untitled Star Wars film is going to be the equivalent of Avengers Endgame. Keep up the good work!
That's a really good observation. Considering Favreau did alot of work for Marvel (including working on the first three Iron Man movies) then it does make sense to see so many comparisons!
I absolutely loved the show, it feels so wholesome Also as soneone on the autism spectrum, I know it’s kinda going into tv trope / stereotype territory but I did get autism vibes from KB, so ima claim that I’m right and she has autism
Oh, good observation. I agree, KB does seem like she's on the spectrum. My son is as well and while I've never been tested, I suspect I am, too. It's why I love laying out the timeline so much. So that's very cool to have her on the show!

6:00 sounded like grown-up/economist-speak for "this is how you keep double books"
Neil mentioned that they were having trouble with a calculation until they made a strange swap
Great points! Yeah, it did sound like they were practicing some questionable accounting!
I expected you to say “Hello, MCU fans! Today…” I liked the first 2 episodes as well and I hope it isn’t as hated as The Acolyte though I haven’t seen that show so I don’t know if it really was that bad or was exaggerated
I had to practice that opening a few times, tbh. lol!
And I agree...seems like this will be a really fun season ahead!
This show is really interesting i saw the trailer so im not seeing the full video lol but it was good ngl
I agree...the show has been really good so far!
Hey, I have a Star Wars Canon Spreadsheet that i've been working on for a few years, it includes all the comics and books as well. I think its pretty accurate, so if you'd like, I can share it with you for reference. (It's missing a few things, but is mostly up to date)
Oh wow...I'd love to use that as a baseline and I'd give you credit for it. You could send it to my email or discord. Thanks so much!!!
The republic has no jedi but no problems people going down by the side on those stairs 😂
lol! Very true!
What kind of mystery is that?
A very good one!
I absolutely loved the show, it feels so wholesome
Also as soneone on the autism spectrum, I know it’s kinda going into tv trope / stereotype territory but I did get autism vibes from KB, so ima claim that I’m right and she has autism
Oh, good observation. I agree, KB does seem like she's on the spectrum. My son is as well and while I've never been tested, I suspect I am, too. It's why I love laying out the timeline so much. So that's very cool to have her on the show!
No way Silvio is a Jedi just a con man.
Yeah, I think that's a good theory, tbh.
At Attin feels a bit distopian/authoritarian. Not a fan of that planet.
Yeah, there's definitely alot of fishy things going on with that planet!
I felt dialogue super quick and didn't development good. They really stop creating new characters
I think those are some fair complaints. Hopefully the show will keep getting better with each new episode!
