    Really like that new little window of the ball exiting the pin deck. Nice addition!

      This is a good alternative to what He was doing before. The camera on the lane was a distraction, and most comments were about the camera and not the ball reactions. Great improvement, JR.

    I really like you showing the zoomed in pin reaction. Kind of neat to see up close and slowed down exactly how it rolls through the pins.

    I saw Dick Allen use that ball I been watching him bowl every Tuesday night from local bowling in SC it was very cool watching him that for first time

    With that smaller first angle, that is like an old Label Leverage drilling, l use that alot since i dont have the ball speed anymore. Everyone hated the OG Rotogrip Wrecker, l pre ordered it because of the cover and core and the ball driller recommended me to use the label leverage drilling. man l wish l still had that ball. it was a killer but the cover cracked couple years ago.. that was a great ball drilled that way

    Random, but you mentioned your down lane camera shutting down after 10 minutes?
    If it’s a GoPro, make sure you have the correct write speed card for the camera and try formatting the card. Makes a world of difference with these cameras. Fought that struggle for a long time before I figured that out

    I love this style of video. Great info and two different looks. Nice to see a core/cover combo that responds well to different core positions with consistency.

    Honestly I think I have arrived at the same conclusion about "earlier" stronger layouts too. But I always thought that I needed the "longer" weaker layouts because of my slower ball speed, but just for a hoot I put stronger layout(45x4 1/4x35) on a Night Road and I liked what I saw so much, that I realized I might have to re-think the way I approach layouts in the future.

    I like the 25 degree layout with the mass bias kicked out to the right. I am learning to throw my new Pride with the hybrid cover.

      @jacewelsh8537 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Where did you find a hybrid pride? Is it overseas. Cause the original is a solid and this one is a pearl.

  • @joshg218
    @joshg218 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    This is what I see a lot of people struggled with when it came to the Dark Code as well. It needed a core dominate layout or the REX is too strong and uses energy too quickly and rolls flat.

    • @coopergates9680
      @coopergates9680 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Such low RGs of modern cores also contribute to easy roll out. The Recon core and the one used in the Supras have higher RGs, but asyms rarely do.

    Great video JR. Excellent demonstration of how changing just the first angle can have such a dramatic effect on the ball motion.
    FYI: The audio on your intro was only on the right channel and the audio for your review was only on the left channel.

    To my eye, the 70 degree first angle ball floats, and when it hooks, it doesn't finish its motion through the pin deck, unless the speed is slower, and matched up just right. The 25 degree ball is reading lots earlier, and makes a smooth hook motion at the break point, while still continuing through the pins; i.e., the motion to the left does not stop, but is left - left - more left. I think the advantage would be that when you move into more oil in the middle, you don't have to slow down so much, or start to increase your axis of rotation as early, to get a good "look" into the pocket.

  • @danlorwil083175
    @danlorwil083175 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The 25 degree drilling angle definitely picked up and revved much sooner in the mid-lane, rolled forward sooner, and was a more rounded, heavier rolling and arcing backend reaction. The 70 degree drilling angle was cleaner through the front with a much quicker, sharper, and faster response to friction

  • @MsSnakke
    @MsSnakke 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The 70 degree layout will definitely give you more skid and store the energy. Given the last degree which I assume is 25 the moment the 70 degree ball will see friction it will hook left aggressively. While the 25 degree first angle layout will make the ball work the moment it hits the lane and once it sees friction it will not bite back hard because of the energy loss. These are my two cents on the layout. Now which one to use when, it all depends on the lane condition on the given day. Lower volume patterns I would use 70 degrees higher volume pattern I will use 25 degrees.
    Overall the ball looked fantastic to me.
    Appreciate if you can do one video on speed control of the ball with feet movement and also a video on how to send the ball far right when you are playing deep inside I assume this will be related to where you follow through your hand on the clock at the time of release.
    Thanks for putting up great content out there your fan and potential student all the way from bahrain 🇧🇭

    It also deflects to the right. I agree, lower number for an asymmetric.

  • @remington1439
    @remington1439 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I tell you JR, the 25, 1st number if I got the right is better than the 70 degree one.. I might have to do this with my Asymmetrical balls instead of 70x5 or 4-1/2x 30, I will have to replay this to get those numbers down right to use the core to my advantage. Thank you

  • @petermilder1912

    You could definitely tell the difference between the 2 ball reactions. I like the 25 degree ball the best because it looked like it gave you a predictable reaction and finish where the 70 I could see being over/under. I have seen that over/under with the Fatal Venom but then again I drilled it much closer to 60 and 25, and I know it's a sym versus this asym. I have been on the fence on whether to get one of these new Prides and although I still haven't made up my mind, I think you have laid to rest my fear of it being too over/under.

  • @jeremygiddings2551

    Stronger lay out definitely. Didn't see the deflection that normally accompanies the shiny Motiv pieces. Good luck with it.

    • @coopergates9680

      Higher RG symms also don't struggle with it as much like the Villain Scorn and Supras.

    The 25 degree layout is more continuous at the backend... you can see the 70 deflect more than the 25

    70 degree definitely deflects more. Would you expect similar performance if the balls were solids instead of pearls? Perhaps the strong layout for pearls and weak layout for solids is a good combo for the arsenal?

      I just punched a 70 x 4.5 x 20 Odyssey and MAN I love this layout for the ball but it's a TON stronger obviously. My original pride is like 30 x 4.5 x 30 and also sees a ton of use but is much weaker cover and core wise so it tracks. Might be on to something.

  • @mcdowec.2020

    Gonna try out this on my evo pearl. It does the same thing when it gets down lane, where it makes too hard of a turn and the ball just rolls out.

  • @TheDare2bme
    @TheDare2bme 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The difference is interesting…I could see that the weaker ball was cleaner and quicker, but the difference would really show on something flatter. This would’ve been a nice comparison on a medium volume sport shot after game 5. Maybe you’ll be able to test that out this weekend.

  • @richardwallace650

    One more thing; I feel the weaker layouts to me, seem better when I am trying to play straighter on shorter patterns, and earlier hooking lanes, when the inside carry seems a bit " iffy".

  • @thomasmerrick8948
    @thomasmerrick8948 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    JR, when you are talking about the stronger layout; what exactly are u saying? That it is stronger on the motion to the pocket, or stronger hitting the pins, or what? I too have that problem of having a ball hook too soon. Most of my layouts are basically the same I am just experiencing what a pin down layout does and have learned about different pin to pap distance. I only have about 13 mph ball speed, what would you suggest on a Pride Empire. Thanks !

  • @HollowFaith666

    you should drill the original pride with the 25 degree layout and see how much difference you get

    With what you said about you drilling Motiv balls too weak in terms of drilling angle, maybe you should revisit the original Pride and drill it with the 25x4.5x30 layout and see how much better it rolls for you. Maybe a side by side comparison with the Pride Empire would be a cool idea too

    Love this review compared to other ones! I really like seeing the difference and I also like seeing you throw good shots and bad shots with them… let’s us know how the ball handles a human throwing it 😂. Question… what about the 70 degree layout with a little surface? Would it give the same motion as the 25 degree?

    I feel the 70 Degree shouldn't be played from those angles .... And should be played more in the track line the first shot. However is a great comparison...
    How did they roll in the tournament?
