I noticed some differences between the real locomotives and the fake locomotives. 1. The fake locomotives have a 81 inch low hood. In 1977, it was changed to a 88 inch low hood. The real 7375 was built in 1986 so it had a 88 inch low hood. 2. The radiators are chicken wire. Also in 1977, it was changed to corrugated radiators. 3. The middle axle on each truck is slightly higher.

The BIG problem with that scene (like many scenes too) is this : Mainly two problems. First, in the real life, both SD40's would never have been switched in another siding at the speed they were going. A siding is not a line where trains can go fast. Second, unit 777 was pushing both SD40's too close from each other so that 777 still remain on mainline when SD40's were pushed in the siding. In fact, all the engines and cars were supposed to end up in the siding and derailed. From my point of view, the movie missed the target too many times from what it was suppose to happen for real. Hollywood !!! Sorry if I'm too honest here...

I find it quite fascinating that one of the most tragic scenes in the movie was an epically planned-out one-shot Johnson...wow!
