I so appreciate you recommending the demo. Legit so excited to play the full game now. At first I wasn't a fan of not being able to manually tell each combatant what to do at a time but the tactics system is actually really good and forces you to think. Took a bit of time but I got really into it. And the character designs! UGH, I love them.
Yeah once you wrap your head around tactics and conditions it really balloons in possibility and it feels good to put it all together and get it to work!
Odin Sphere is the game, it was a great game. I love Vanillaware's art styles and story. Hahahaha Vanillaware likes them big. I'm betting there's some big evil controlling Galarius. I really don't think they were there for Alain. Can't wait to see more.
I got immediately hooked when you commented how this was an Ogre Battle spiritual successor. I loved that game. And after watching this first episode, there are tons of similarities. Between battle format, and when you beat an enemy they fall back. the name of the "evil empire" is similar, and the fact you start off on a small island, and liberating towns along the way. There is probably more that I am not mentioning, but I like it. I can only hope there is a ton of lore in this game.
(chanting) peak! peak! peak! (I definitely don't think the writing of this one is even close to 13S, but I also think 13S has the best video game story of all time. and it's certainly good enough - I think the characters have really good VAs and that's carrying them far, like I'm pretty sure Ilenia is Rhea's VA and Lex is Sylvain's, and 3H's voice cast was amazing. also you're talking about Odin Sphere Leifthrasir which is also one of my very favorite games ever.)
13 sentinels had to be the best writing cause that was most of the game and they truly did an incredible job. To say this isn't good is impossible to say with only an 8 hour demo. But there has been nothing to indicate the writing will be bad, but it obviously has no need to be as complex as 13 sentinels for obvious reasons.
Glad i get to join you from the beginning instead of watching your playthroughs years later Love this game Youre brave for setting to expert I wanted to but i am having issues with FE Engage on hard (I dont normally struggle with FE games idk why i am with this one) so that kinda has me doubting my abilities
It made me nervous too but I do like how harder difficulties sorta force me to learn how to play better so I've really come to love playing on harder difficulties. I used to be deathly afraid of them.
This game looks great so far! Also my first time coming across your videos, I like your commentaries and voice- which is oddly soothing. Looking forward to watching the rest of the playlist!
I'm only 20 minutes into this, but it reeks Ogre Battle: MoTBQ. The remastered Tactic Ogre, so maybe somewhere down the line they can take a clue from this game if they choose to do it next and or Ogre Battle 64. It just sucks because they're trapped on older hardware unless you emulate them. I've beaten the OG Tactics Ogre, PSX version on the Chaotic route a long time ago.
I'm so excited to see how this unfolds, I'd love to be able to play the game myself but I don't have the console for it, sadly. I'll be living vicariously through this playthrough and probably watch it multiple times like I plan doing for every playthrough on the channel, currently working my way through the FF7 remake so I can watch Rebirth and know what's going on
I quite literally heard of this game a couple of days ago from someones Skyrim playthrough and they were sponsored by this game and were promoting the demo. And I fell in love with the art style instantly from the footage that was shown, so I pretty much ordered my Switch copy of it and then I thought who'd have a playthrough of this game, and I immediately thought of Avalog Vernacular, "Cause this seems to be somewhat like Fire Emblem, and I loved his Three Houses and Engage playthroughs" And low and behold, here one exists. So, looking forwards to this one as well, Analog!
The funny thing is, I didn't have room in my release schedule when this game came out and wasn't planning on playing it. Then I played the demo and said, welp guess I'm just gonna have to MAKE ROOM
3 rules of thumb for offering advice in Unicorn Overlord; 1. If you critique a certain matchup always provide timecode of that matchup or I won't take the advice because I simply have no way of understanding it. (Context) 2. If you are offering a universal tip for a class/unit type/etc. Try to clearly state that so I'm in the right frame of mind and not wondering if the first rule of thumb was addressed or not. 3. And Double check your own work that it is accurate to your knowledge and if you're unsure you should say so. Too many state their "I think" in a declarative statement which can be frustrating for me because it's impossible to parse from those who actually know versus have a hypothesis.
This game feels the combination of a Musou Game (mapping system in Gameboy), the auto battle in Fire Emblem (how they attack), The power system (the card battle that is similar to a Yugi Oh!) and the usual party system of 6 (Ogre Battles series)
I saw this game, thought it looked interesting, but decided I'd skip it for now, because there's so much other games and stuff I already need to keep up with. But then you recommend that demo and after seeing this I don't think I can skip it. Which on one hand makes me happy, but on the other it doesn't make my time management any easier xD I also haven't played a lot of Vanillaware games, but every one I played so far was stellar! So depending on how this ends up, I really think I might need to add them to my list for things to watch out for.
Oh no this is exactly what happened to me and now I'm leading others into the demo trap! This game refuses to be ignored. The demo really was a brilliant choice for this game.
Ill make a second playthrough. This game is too good. Love your run mate. I gotta say i have a bit of trouble pushing through with tactics reborn. It feels kinda slow in the beginning. I might be getting too old
Can't work for everyone, no worries. Tactics Ogre requires an investment in the politics that some will find too uninteresting. For me it's gold, but some will find it too inaccessible.
Probably. So far I'm doing everything. I make it a point to never promise 100% on a blind playthrough because I don't know what it entails but this one seems pretty doable and I'm definitely trying for it.
Now that I've finished the game I can confirm that it will be a Platinum Trophy playthrough! Enjoy!
Man even the music in literally the first battle is cool as hell!

The attention to detail is so PRONOUNCED.

so glad you're playing this the hype is real 💗
It's been so good in this demo! This game has done nothing but surprise me and surpass my expectations at every turn.
Always glad to see a game from Vanillaware drop and this one is no different. Played the demo of this to death and can't wait for the release

I haven't played to the end of the demo, but gosh, if this isn't the perfect omen to Lex's performance so far

That is the most beautiful god damn save screen I’ve ever seen in my entire gaming life

Once again I am drawn back into your amazing content by great game and great commentary. Here's hoping it isn't another Diofield >_>
When I played the demo, Learning the combat along with the FREAKING OST OH MY
I’m playing the full game ASAP
OST doesn't miss. It was the same with 13 Sentinels too!
Oyy mate. Same taste in games as i do. Which means its perfect. Keep it up lad. Enjoying your videos as always
This game is something else.
Really enjoying it
Me too friend, me too.
18:33 FR THEY WERE DOING US A SERVICE WITH EM ASSETS THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING
perfect timing! just finished rogue trader and now i have a full new game to watch :)
This game is beautiful!😢 great video video
I saw it and think of Fire emblem. Story and characters are very Fire emblem like, but the fighting is different.
Definitely one of the inspirations developing this game
Great playthrough!
Thanks!

Hmmmmmmmmm it looks pretty cool
Trust me it is. The demo gave me 8 hours of pure joy so far!
@@AnalogVernacular I made that comment at the start of the video. Yes, this is gonna be good the assets the story.
Vanillaware spent lots of time working on the assets in this game.
18:02 ...😂yeahhh....
Is this a game you play on PS5 or switch? The combat system looks interesting, tho I'm not sure which platform I should play it on
This game is on everything. It's even on PS4 if you don't have 5.
Is that johnny Bosch on Lex? It sounds like him

The queen having two shields really throws me off with her design
Considering that you can choose to execute most enemy bosses that you confront, I wouldn't consider Alain too idealistic.
