I actually thought my mom, for one, sincerely apologized when she once unintentionally said bad things about my friends being lazy when working on some stupid science fair project but then, years later, I overheard her and eavesdropped in a phone conversation between her and one of her colleagues using such people as an example of lazy people. The only time my dad apologized was when he unexpectedly got angry and jumped into the wrong conclusions about me paying some electrician with the precise money currency through a misunderstanding, but I doubt it won't happen again.

I feel that the confrontation could’ve been better. the whole Im 13 deal with it and twerking in her mom’s face is not a good example for little kids to follow. I would’ve liked it if Mei admitted that she was wrong for lying to her mom in her panda form and confessed to what she did and the reasons which results in them hugging it out during the process of the ritual. And the ending could end with both parent and daughter respecting each other in a form of a reasonable compromise when going with her friends in her partial panda form.

Mei being loud and rebellious and inappropriate was (in the heat of the moment) the way SHE knew how to get the point across
At 0:49, pause this scene and it breaks my heart where mei's mom's side is all dark and empty since her past is that she hasn't felt the feeling of being free and feel the refreshing breeze like mei and even she chooses her husband...,she still felt empty inside like it's not enough like how we are seeing what she really feel inside of her mind. A cold wind and empty life due to expectations and the repressions she gave to herself until Mei came to her life while at mei's side, she has a more brightful and life-like side where it shows the cycle of trauma ends right here and right now as their generation blooms and becomes stronger like the bamboos.

Ming might have been harsh and overprotactive but she was only looking out for her daughter and wanted the best for her. However as time goes by you have to learn to take care of yourself and start living life more indipendentally. I mean of course you will always need the parents support but it's around that time when you start making your own choises and finally start to accept yourself as you are. Mei embraced her panda side and understood that despite beeing different from others she is special and amazing as she is. Good thing she embraced her panda beacouse she is unique and just perfect as a panda or girl. Good thing Ming opend up, apoligized and also supported Mei's choises. Ming truly cares about Mei and the love she has for her shows love Ming
