I can say from personal experience self teaching myself that this is one of the best tips ever. Can't afford to go to France at the moment so I brought France into my life. I feel as if it's the best way and fastest way.
On Netflix: Bonfire of Destiny, Call my agent (hilarious). On Amazon Prime: Spiral (amazing), the French Village, and Le Bureau. In the US we have a streaming channel called Mhz which plays all foreign language tv shows and special shows. I have watched: Speakerine, the Chef, the Art Police, and my favorite - Captain Marleau. Enjoy.
Oh my goodness, I also get through MHz channel! I just finished Speakerine and loved it! I’m in love with Spiral, too. That is my #1. I cried & cried when Pierre died. Also love Le Bureau! Can’t wait to check out your other recommendations. Thanks for doing that!
Learning French is confusing, but when I started listening to French music and watching French Netflix series, I got more acquainted to the language and my desire to learn it got even bigger :))
ow cool ! yeah it can be confusing if you're doing it by yourself with textbooks. watch movies like you said :) but also look for French youtubers, tiktok accounts, normal people doing insta stories etc... and if you can, even find friends who speak french in your town or online :)
What French movies do you watch on Netflix? I don't like dubbed movies bc they feel fake and most of the series suggested to me seem dull. I need recommendations on French series to watch (with young casts/teenagers if possible )
Thanks so much for this information! I read books in French and I watch French movies, but I need to watch more "real" everyday French programs. I will definitely check some of these out. Merci!
I’m new to French so I don’t know all the words but I started watching this one French show. It has captions so I can understand and I’m starting to get the feel of what French sounds like when you say it and hear it. It’s so nice you gave these tips. Thanks 😊
Thanks for the recommendations! If you have a VPN, you can watch tf1.fr, france.tv, and 6play.fr replay from other countries. Just connect your VPN to a french server before going to the website. Unfortunately, this will not work with Netflix, but there are now a lot of French programs on US Netflix, so you watch shows like "Dix Pour cent" (Call Your Agent in English) and "Plan Coeur" and many others. I have 2 dozen French shows on my list. I just wish I had time to watch them all.
Thanks! I’d like to know what days, channels, and times Clique, Quotidien, and Pékin Express are on in France. I never seem to come across them. I guess I should check what’s on TMC more often.
StreetFrench.org, I found that Clique is on Canal+, a pay network. Quotidien avec Yann Barthes is on TMC weekdays at 18:20 and at 19:10. Pèkin Express is on M6 (channel 6).
J'ai également une suggestion d'émission sympa en français pour découvrir la France, ses régions, le patrimoine, les gens, la cuisine : Les carnets de Julie (en ligne sur TH-cam). Pas de sous-titres en anglais malheureusement.
ah cool wasn't sure :)) sometimes we use an english word in France but it's not necessarily the exact translation lol. like "une brushing" for "a blow-dry" etc...
I just moved back to the USA 😭😭🙏🏾 can you tell me that show that comes on Saturday where they play music videos and there is a host that ask the artists pop questions (they choose between two answers) the host is a brunette woman. I want to find out how to keep watching it now that I’m back! 🙏🏾
Moi, j'aime bien C'a vous, je crois que c'est pas mal, les thèmes dont ils parlent son très variés. Et bon, c'est pas un show comme tel, mais j'adore Cyprien, le youtubeur.
ah yeah we started making videos all in French recently, check it out :) th-cam.com/video/T5YmwKar_sU/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/kYFsclyliB4/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/0HZu_R6_eXY/w-d-xo.html
Top Chef? Purleeease! That name's a crime against both the English and French languages. I would guess it's a rip-off of Masterchef, which has been going for 20-25 years in the UK. A perfectly decent name. Personally I think it's a boring show. But enough people love it for it carry on - it seems to be on nearly every week, sometimes several days a week. But at least it's NOT Top Chef! Oh, and clique - hilarious when you pronounced it 'click'!
we also have master chef in France. But you know, the most famous TV show in the world were all invented in the UK that's no secret :) TV realities, most game shows etc no need to get so upset haha we know it's not our concept. but the show is probably super different when it come to food because well.. la cuisine Française you know :)
@@Street_French Well that's reassuring - NOT. We like to think our best TV programmes are the nature ones presented by Attenborough, et al, maybe the Drama like Downton Abbey (OK, never seen it) or the comedies like Monty Python. If you are saying we are best known for game shows and 'reality' shows...
@@rogink haha no I'm not saying you're ONLY known for the tv shows and games haha ^^ it's just a small part ^^ but most of the biggest concepts were invent there if I'm correct :)
I enjoy watching--via TH-cam--excerpts of ONPC, of TLMEP, of LGL, and of Stupéfiant!. (Often, captions are unavailable, but that forces you to listen even more attentively--which can only benefit you.) Recommend.😀

Ah nice! Make sure you find some French speaking friends to practice with too ;)
@@Street_French yeah I need to work on that but you guys are my friends :)
Haha bien sûr ;)

You’re right, exposure to the language is key. If you never hear it spoken, you’ll never get far with the language.
;)
So cool of you guys to suggest shows for french language learners
;)
Thanks so much for this information! I read books in French and I watch French movies, but I need to watch more "real" everyday French programs. I will definitely check some of these out. Merci!

Can I know what were you watching?
Ivory White The show is “The Returned”.
Moi, j'adore regarder « Fais Pas Ci, Fais Pas Ça » ! Cependant, c'est très difficile de trouver les sous-titres.

My favorite French word... Donc!
ah cool :)
we often replace it by "du coup" in conversations

De rien! Yeah we don't have a TV so we're not too sure either haha we just watch these shows when we're at Maïa's parents house sometimes ;)
StreetFrench.org, I found that Clique is on Canal+, a pay network. Quotidien avec Yann Barthes is on TMC weekdays at 18:20 and at 19:10. Pèkin Express is on M6 (channel 6).
You can say ‘in replay’ it’s just not used frequently anymore

Also in english we do say “replay” it means that the episodes are saved and you can watch later on :)
ah cool wasn't sure :)) sometimes we use an english word in France but it's not necessarily the exact translation lol. like "une brushing" for "a blow-dry" etc...
Merci pour cette list! C'est super! Je vais regarder Quotidien and Marie S'infiltre
