So happy that you have release this episode. Liked! I wanted to know about TP Link Deco85 firmware as I heard is not good. (Coming from an Asus consumer)
Good Mesh WiFi. Alex, thank you for your honest recommendation. I am also of the same opinion that Deco BE85 would be the most worth for money after looking at the average stat.
Aloha from Hawaii, USA! Great video. I'm torn between the Orbi 970 and the Deco BE95. I have a 2 story home and have 3GB Fiber into my home. I game on a high-end PC so I want the spoeeds but my wife and daughter just like to stream 4k services. Thanks for the detailed information.
GOOD MESH WIFI. Great speed review. I have BE85 and been using it close to 1 mth on viewqwest 10GB plan. I'm still waiting for the SFP+ module so that I can bypass the modem and have 1 less device in my DB. Been getting between 6 to 8 GBps down and up thus far. The unit are HOT! So I bought 120mm fan and let the deco sit on top of it.
Great sharing on Mesh Wifi 7 for early adopters and will stay with my Wifi 6 for now. Fortunate that I have relocated my fiber point in an open space and not worrying on heat and space for my wifi upgrade later. GOOD MESH WIFI !!!😊
Long time Fan Alex, great info in this video. I am personally using TP link AP but i am getting choppy internet, not say long breaks, but every 30 mins or so it will have like a 2 second which stuff stops loading (especially apparent during scrolling), and then it goes back ok. What could be the possible cause?
Hi Alex, Great and very informative review! However, it would be better if you were to include a local speed test in your review as well. As in a device-to-device speed test comparison. This would exclude all other variables that could affect the real performance of these meshes by taking the ISP out of the picture. I think a raw throughput comparison would be really helpful for some people who have servers in their home. Nonetheless great work!
GOOD MESH WIFI - to be honest these router companies boast unrealistic speeds and are really misleading for consumers, tks for making this video to show the performances in realistic situations :)) KEEP IT UP GREAT CONTENT!!
Love your videos, genuinely helping me a lot for my first ever BTO project. Just a fun fact, wanted to ask if you sell any of your services so my house have a GOOD MESH WIFI 😅 “GOOD MESH WIFI”
I was reviewing the BQ16 as well and the firmware is buggy. Some of my Google Nest devices has to be factory reset and repaired in order for it to not dropping connection with the router. I have to change the mnodulation scheme so that the 2.4GHz devices stop disconnecting. I am using wired backhaul, so placing the nodes has no issue for me. After some tweaks, it is stable for 2 weeks so far.
Looking at some 5 Gbps plans with local ISPs (Starhub, like yours, is now bundling a wifi 7 router with their plan). Are these mesh units capable of a mix and match mesh solution (sticking to the same brand)?
it won't be a mesh solution this way, you will just be using the mesh unit as just an access point when you wire them up, basically its a setup that don't make much sense. I suggest not to get any add-on routers from the isp so that you can build a proper home network
You can mention that the deco can create a good mesh wifi with older model. I have an old E4R and a x50 and it work great but I can't no longer buy a x50 due to inflation.
This is interesting... I have been trying to get TP Link Mesh system to work, but always had to give up. I run a BE230 main WiFi Router (connected to my ISP Router) and the two RE3000X Extenders with Ethernet Backhaul. As long as everything is in AP mode there are no issue, but the moment I try to configure it as a Mesh it keeps losing the connection to the Internet every 2 Minutes. Pretty weird My AVM Fritz Mesh system worked just fine, but the WiFi quality there was just not the same as with the TP Link components.🤷♂️
Hmmm high cost to adopt. But the results quite underwhelming. With my current mesh provided by the ISP that is Wifi6, i can get 700mbps and at times 800-900mbps (iphone 15 pro wifi). Running a 5gbps plan on wired backhaul, 2 nodes.
For Asus n tplink, some devices couldn't connect to a network with MLO enabled so have to configure another separate network. Only Netgear orbi no issues
@@AlexTeo To see which router is the best for wired backhaul. Especially for gamers or people who require high internet connect. Some folks really need that Gbps and curious to see if there's really a big difference among the different routers.
What's the point of having 5gbps service when your wired speed is 1.3gbps? I get around 1.2gbps wired and I'm only paying for 1gbps and using stock equipment.
none of my test result is based on wired speed, I am not trying to test whether my ISP is giving me the correct speed i subscribed the test scenario is to see how much actual speed are you getting under different types of connection and interference
actually the DB box is a good spot for my floor plan to push signals to my kitchen and video doorbell outside, you can always place it somewhere else in the living room area or go with AC+AP
@AlexTeo if I can get a 2-pack BT10 with a 10g network for $63/month, hard to find a realistic reason to pay over thousands of dollars for another system… but such aspect of content may not the relevant to your non-SG audience… Thanks a lot for doing the review nonetheless!
No point buying now. Too expensive. Better wait till more of the devices used at home has wifi 7 and the mainstream broadband speed is higher and affordable (not those 2Gbps BS that is split 1Gbps/1Gbps for each ONt/modem port). A more practical advice now is get a good wifi 6 mesh nodes (which has become much cheaper) and have wired backhaul. This will help with wifi coverage and have a better avg and consistent connection
Yup agree, but for those that already got a 5 or 10gbps plans then you might not be able to take advantage from most of the wifi 6 models, I will also suggest to skip 6E models

Sorry I won't as I personally don't recommend such setup 🙏
@ thanks for your reply. But may I know why? I was planning to connect 2 of the either mentioned using wired backhaul.

Only difference from the BE85 is it's quad band, don't see much benefit so far so you can probably save some money going with BE85

i won't recommend to mix across different generation actually
would you say that the walls in your house are mainly concrete? also whats the total area of your house?
ya singapore houses are full of concrete walls, about 1200sqft

i believe that is a speed you get without much interference, you can potentially hit 1500mpbs and above with wifi 7
What app did you use to analyse the WiFi band?
Wifiman
out of curiosity, why do you need more than 1gbps broadband speed?
for faster internet speed? to maximize that is of course to go with wired connections, anyway 1gbps plans are phasing out in singapore already
Are the IoT devices (eg WiFi bulbs) on legacy 2.4ghz stable on these WiFi 7 router? Read reviews that some IoT 2.4ghz devices couldn’t connect to bq16
For Asus n tplink, some devices couldn't connect to a network with MLO enabled so have to configure another separate network. Only Netgear orbi no issues
For a 5GB connection, the performance of the Wifi 7 mesh is not justifiable to upgrade to 5GB plan it seems
It's easier to maximize that for wired connections, not for wifi
GOOD MESH WIFI, Can you compare ISP ? wifi is not only a good router but also depend on ISP. Thank you
Just to confirm that you are referring to intrusion prevention system (IPS)?
@@AlexTeo sorry typo, ISP, internet service provider
HI Alex can i check with u how check your house cable install by hdb is 5e 6 or 6a cable ?

Your test of speed is over wireless? How about if you connect an ethernet cable?
erm yup wireless, you mean wired from router to device? what is the purpose of this test?
@@AlexTeo To see which router is the best for wired backhaul. Especially for gamers or people who require high internet connect. Some folks really need that Gbps and curious to see if there's really a big difference among the different routers.
@@bedsheet61 there are no difference for wired connections on these routers as long as it has the ports to match your ISP plan
