    I'm getting so much braver in the gym, I've started using the freeweights section more and the cables. A big gym guy was watching me the other day and I thought he wanted the weight I had so when I put it back I asked "do you want this weight" and he laughed and said no you can keep that big one 😊 i was so proud of that interaction!

    This video was super relatable. Often gym influencers will make their workout vids overly glamorised and edited. I like seeing the raw movements and also hearing you speak your mind throughout the workout, not hiding discomfort or insecurity. It's how everyone is in the gym, movements are trial and error to set them up correctly and get into a rhythm. You did a great job at the new gym.

    Your confidence IS magnetic. What I found especially helpful to watch is how you approach others in the gym. As you alluded and as others have mentioned here in the comments section, the 'sealing the world out with headphones' tendency can be hard to step away from even though I totally wanna make more friends in the gym/out in the world, etc. Would love to see more of that kind of content as you film your vids. Thank you for featuring that!!

    I’ve been struggling with my gym anxiety but seeing you just ask people where you set up for hip thrusts etc is such a huge help. I always struggle on where to set up and I’ve thought to ask someone but never see anyone else do it so I don’t either 😂 but now I will!

    i went to the gym for the first time yesterday and going again today but yester day i had someone take me through a full body work out so im just going to be doing that again but i get so anxious when people from my school are in there but luckily they all left by the time i was done with my warm up so hopefully they do that again. but Syd you've helped mew so much with getting up and just going to the gym thank you.

    Omg I needed this on TH-cam. I've been doing the shy girl dumbell workout from ig reels and I literally watched it so many times to remember the routine 😅 I'm excited to pause ⏸️ 🤪 in between sets.

    For hip thrusts what i do is use 10kg bumper plates then regular plates which have a smaller circumference for the rest of the weight - easier to get the plates on and off and easier to set up

    Qq: With your cable Kickback, do you have any tip for feeling it on the non active leg? Sometimes I feel so much pressure on the standing/non-working leg and it's distracting

    I get nervous when I feel as though someone is waiting for a rack or machine (even if I just got it seconds ago). It's ridiculous because everyone is so nice & I try to be as efficient as possible. I deserve to be there just like anyone else, but sometimes it makes me feel like I'm in the way? Or they somehow need it more than I do?
    Trying to get over that feeling in 2023.😅

    i do KAS bridges step ups and kickbacks for my glute days, is that enough or should i do more? my glutes have gotten bigger but still pretty flat from the side

      I would add some RDLs you can do barbell or dumbbell, when you perfect the form they're FANTASTIC at creating the crease line underneath. also make sure you're eating enough protein! x

      @@sydgrows thank you!! i’m not doing a bulk, i’m just doing my normal cals (aiming for around 2,000) and roughly 100g of protein a day (sometimes more). i don’t really want to bulk but hopefully this helps me lol! 6 months deep in the gym and my glutes have grown it just lacks from the side view but that’s ok i was FLAT xx all the best on your journey

    Do you still get sore muscles after a work out or are your legs used to it? Im not sure if im doing it wrong but after I workout I dont really get sore muscles but when im doing my excercises I normally go till failure and it hurts like shit. Yet the day after I dont feel a thing.

    My gym anxiety is the free weights. I have no problem with the machines but the free weights area terrifies me

      I completely understand! I've been there. I really recommend going to a 24 hour one and going for a late night sesh when that area is completely empty to familiarise yourself so that you can get used to the space and then sure enough soon you'll have no problem going there even at the busiest times!

      i go early in the morning. there are less people and the ones who are there are more serious and focused. at my gym, in the afternoon, its more people, more pairs/groups of friends and people taking selfies. no judgments about that, it just makes me more self conscious. you could try going with a friend too at first.
