Aaaah, this was so fun to watch! Thank you for making this video so thorough and enjoyable. I'm still laughing over the "Voilet", LOL! I wonder if every pan has that spelling error? Oops! You are the first to notice it! I hope you have fun with it throughout the year!
I had SO much fun opening it! Perhaps a little too much seeing as I got over excited and forgot many things, lol. Looking forward to painting the calendar and watching some tutorials. 😊❤️
Such a great advent box, well curated by Miranda for watercolor fans, especially for those who haven’t tried Da Vinci. To clarify Da Vinci watercolors, made in California US, are definitely professional artists grade watercolors and not a step below. One of my favorite brands for vibrancy and affordability here. They now ship internationally and had a shipping discount going if you liked them. They’ve got a great generous “egg carton” dot card you could swatch!
Thank you, I keep hearing different information about the level of Da Vinci paints. They certainly feel like professional ones! Completely unavailable to buy in Australia so I'm really happy to finally have some! 😊
I did a quick search and I see that "Pigment Lab" in Newtown, Australia carries the Da Vinci watercolors. Hooray! love your videos@@BeckyTregear I think shipping to Australia directly from Da Vinci is $40 and they are running a holiday special of $20 off international shipping cost for any order over $150. You can tell I am enthusiastic about these paints haaa
Da Vinci are professional paints and my favorite. Most of my main palette is Da Vinci with some M. Graham mixed in. Since they set nicely, I use them in my small travel box. Here in the U.S., the prices are lower than other pro brands, and the quality is top notch. I recently noticed that they now ship internationally. Enjoy! 🙂
Hi Becky, I bought Miranda's advent calendar. I got the more expensive but slightly cheaper because it was one of the "flawed" boxes. My box was dented when i received it, but what made it flawed was that when the paint was poured some of them were cracked. Still, great paints though. However, I have only opened up three months worth. Miranda provides tutorials for each month. Because your seasons are different from ours, if you follow Miranda's tutorials, I would suggest changing the order of her tutorials to fit your seasons. You might not want a snowy scene for the month of January. I am having fun with advent calendar. Because I am not a prolific painter like you, I figure at least one month at a time to finish my calendar. I would love to watch you following Miranda's videos to paint. Finally, I love the two birds you painted. They are so cute!
That's a great idea, opening one at a time and doing the project for each month - space it out and it'll be a fun activity to do over time. I haven't decided what to do with the calendar yet; I'll think about that over the holidays when I'm having a break. But yes, January and February have very hot weather, so summery themes will probably be more what I'll be doing. Either Miranda's ideas, or maybe a mix of them with my own if I get inspired by a specific thing. Who knows what will happen, haha! Enjoy your calendar! 😆
This was a solid value for the money. I did each day and followed her tutorials, I had so much fun. This was great for me as I had never used DaVinci paints, Fabriano paper, or the Princeton brush before. So it was all new. Your birds are so cute.
Oh that's awesome that you got some new stuff, and all of those products are wonderful. A really great value box, and the tutorials look like they'll be really fun to do. I hope to dive into those in the new year. 😊
What a fun video! I love how the paint pans were wrapped up as candies. Psssst....please don't worry about perfection. I always make a mess when it comes to art, so it's heartening to see someone professional also be messy. 🥰
Haha- I looked at the colour palette and thought hmmm, I would've expected another blue... I was right! 😂 great colour choices, and so much paper! It must have taken ages to cut all of that! Worth it for the pre cut paper alone lol. I thought your birds turned out really cute, thanks for the video! 😊
All the best for Christmas and the New Year. Having a quieter one this weekend but it meant I had time to paint 15 watercolour Christmas cards and 7 artworks for gifts.
Great work covering everything (it is a lot!). Your enthusiasm is infectious and kudos to Miranda for this amazing project. I think your painting is delightful. 🤩
What a great video!! I loved your excitement in opening all of the parcels, but couldn't help but feel that it was very expensive for what was inside by the end of it, but that's me I'm a bit of a skin flint, loved the cutie birds!! :D
Thank you. ❤ I think that's pretty much all advent calendars really, but this one has a lot of high quality paper and paints in it, so I was happy with the outcome. Plus, one can't put a price on the fun of opening a mystery box, hahaa!!! 😂
Oh wow! This is without a doubt the best advent calendar ever! 😂 She created this so well! Thank you so much for sharing this with us! Love your painting too- it’s absolutely gorgeous
@@BeckyTregear 😂 glad you said that… just about to receive an expensive art supply gift they allowed me to choose but worried I didn’t choose wisely & perhaps I should have got something else ( very short notice & I was a bit panicky!). Guess I will soon find out😑😆
Thanks Becky that was great! I think we can blame all hassles and clumsiness on the planets at the moment. I hope you can get some rest over the weekend 🤭
What a great concept for an Advent calendar. I loved all the small details, and committing to painting a small painting for 12 days or months seems doable for most of us. I don't have anu DaVinci paints so this is very tempting. I'll probably send the link to my kiddo as he's still shopping for my gift lol. Becky, your oopsies help all if is learn and I'm not the only one who appreciates it when you take one for the team 🙂. Also, your birds turned out great! What cuties. I hope you and your family have a safe and happy holiday season and an amazing new year! Thank you for all of the wonderful, educational, and creative videos you share in your happy space on the internet.
Thank you! I had a lot of fun opening the calendar and the paints are lovely. I'll be cringing for some time over not seeing the bonus bag until ages later, but it was pretty funny as well. Typical me! I hope you have a lovely Christmas with great people, and that you get some nice pressies from your wishlist. 😊
Great video, even if you forgot a colour 😂. You can’t buy Da Vinci watercolours anywhere in Australia that I have found, would love to buy some. Shelley Prior uses Da Vinci paints they look stunning. Think you should do the whole calendar all at once.
Da Vinci does ship worldwide and I think they're having a special on shipping costs, if I remember correctly. I love their paints. Great quality for the money!
Love this! I would have prefer a yellow ochre or a raw sienna instead of the orange or the violet (both really easy to mix with the other colors she provided). I was crossing my fingers the bonus color was one of those 😅 But that blue was needed.... so I still think either the orange or the violet could have been swapped by an ochre color.... Nitpicking here 😅
That's totally fair! I love bright colours so I'm happy with the choices, but yellow ochre/raw sienna are always useful as well. I do love a strong dioxazine violet....💜💜
I had no idea she placed Da Vinci paint inside otherwise i would've gotten one. For some reason i thought she was putting Mijello Gold Class which i have a ton of. Certainly well thought out palette and activities.
Cute birds! I really enjoyed this and I love VOILET! haha What fun! I am really kicking myself for not budgeting for this project. I almost got it but decided against it because I have soooo many watercolors that I don't use much and I've never tried the Da Vinci brand. So what did I do? I just bought several tubes of their gouache! hahah I found out that it was made in the US and I loved that being an American and all. I just had to give it a try. Well, in my defense, it was on sale! 🤣
Well, if they're on sale then they must be purchased! 😂 When I found out the box had Da Vinci paints, I had to have one, and of course I wanted to support Miranda so it worked out well. ❤
What a breath of fresh air you are. Have you watched any of Becca Hillborns reviews she’s been doing lately. Wholly crap, I refuse to subscribe to her because she is just awful. Tries to say it’s just her opinion and it’s not personal. Then goes ahead and tears everyone and their books or advent calendar kits to shreds. Keep doing you, I love the joy in your voice.
@@BeckyTregear yes natosoup. You must watch. Maybe not the whole videos as you’ll get the gist pretty quickly. I’ve watched her review Jenna Raineys book, Kristy Rice’s new watercolour set and today I watched the Let’s Make Art (Sarah Cray) Advent calendar.
I can’t watch Becca either. I don’t care if people criticize something- helps me save money. But I agree hers come across as snide and mean. I even had YT algorithm sorted as ‘do not recommend channel’.

This is a solid value for the money, best art Advent calendar I've seen this year.
It's a good one, and far exceeds some of the advent calendars out there. The $1300 Disney Swarovski one comes to mind...😱
Love your enthusiasm and your painting!

I thought so too - loads of paper, and the paints are really great!

Davinci are professional watercolors and I find them quite nice! They are not the first one's I gravitate to, but they're lovely
I know so little about them as they just don't exist at all in Australia. It's a shame because they're really great!
I've never used davinci paints. I've always opted for white knights instead for the kiddies, but I've gotta say, you've made them look good here.
I was pleasantly surprised with how nice they are!
