Has Jake ever given away the sauce on that bass sound? Love that he said it’s just a single note and that he’s been using it for years but I need that shit 😭
Didn't he just do it here? It's a one shot sample - idk if he recorded it. If he did, my guess would be a DI fender bass through a neve pre into some sort of compression > into some sort of EQ. Basically an analog channel strip. Then loading it into a sampler which would add slightly more tone/allow him to tweak it however.
"Pretty but not soft" is the best way to describe it. I would also describe "Gangsta Soul" records the same way. One of my favorite records from brent and it also reflected the hollow/isolated feelings of the time during the pandemic
Simply incredible. Whether it‘s his beats or his samples - they never have much more than 4-5 tracks, yet have so much depth. I mean how do you decide to put these instruments together in that specific way? Just crazy
This makes me excited for my future as an artist. EL-B talked about how you can create a groove with 3 layers. I think seasoned producers just know how to make magic out of simplicity.
Nascent and QB are some of the greatest examples of quality over quantity. I’ve been rocking with their beats for years! Their production is seriously tough, they got some crazy bangers!
Had no idea he made this. Been pumping this song amazed and turns out one of my favorite producers created it. You know you are nice when you can’t tell who made it and it’s 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Craziest thing I literally out the blue had the urge to watch the vid of you making 3 kings 2 days ago. Now here comes a new vid! Thanks for the heat and Inspiration brother
Another spectacular beat.. I would definitely buy Snare Jordan merch off the website but I understand it probably doesn't make sense to produce business wise.. Not sure if other's feel the same
My favorite track from Jake One has always been HOme (Ft. Ishmael Butler, Maneak B, Note$ and Vitamin D) this man makes classics and if you haven't heard the track I'm talking about, go back and find it from the White Van Music album.
Man it's always good to see a Jake One breakdown, remember being a young teen watching your videos on here bro! Big inspiration
Facts
I need opinions are am I tripping……does this sound similar to Staying Alive - Dj Khaled

Has Jake ever given away the sauce on that bass sound? Love that he said it’s just a single note and that he’s been using it for years but I need that shit 😭
I don't think he has. Him & Hi-Tek got the toughest bass patch in Hip-Hop in my opinion.
I think he showed the Scarbee bass in Kontakt if I’m not mistaken and his playing is simple but unique to his style. Marco Polo uses that too.
It’s so chunky pause

In one of his previous videos years ago he said it’s a stock asr-10 bass sound from a ensoniq floppy disk
"Pretty but not soft" is the best way to describe it. I would also describe "Gangsta Soul" records the same way. One of my favorite records from brent and it also reflected the hollow/isolated feelings of the time during the pandemic
