- Even though it says cover in the title, its not really lol
Lena is simply a genius. Plain and simple lol this one is my absolute favorite off of this soundtrack! I can barely listen to it without tearing up a little because of how emotionally strong it is in the game. Because of that, I don't think I could ever make a cover nor an arrangement that could perfectly capture the essence of what makes this song so fantastic.
That being said, I still recreated it lmao
After I recovered from my initial shock from listening, I noticed that Lena uses tracks that have been distorted, or clipped. I'd first heard about using clipped tracks when I watched an interview with Billie Eilish, but didn't really think twice about it. In Starjump, the clipped tracks are present and in your face. I wanted to try learning how I could do that, so I transposed the track and got to work. What I did was mixed the track first. Following that, I simply raised the Master Fader until I gained the amount of clipping I desired. That mix was bounced and then I returned the Master Fader to 0.0, imported the distorted mix as a separate track, and mixed as normal.
I think I did okay all things considered! I'm still working on how to improve as an audio engineer but I feel that I made a few good choices. I absolutely encourage feedback!
The addition of the guitar was something I really liked lol I hope you all enjoy listening to this as much as I enjoyed putting this together. Cheers! :)
