EDIT: WOW Thank you all for 10k+ views! I am honored and in awe to receive such a response for my latest video. I love seeing all the comments too and I will try to respond to as many as I can. I appreciate all the comments and support! Hey everyone! Hope you enjoy this video! Succession has always been a great show and season 4 elevated it for me in what it meant for me on a personal level and why it's an amazing show. Really excited to see how it turns out and love all the theories on how it will end. Let me know what you thought about the video and what you think about the show! My next video will be Ted Lasso followed by Tears of the Kingdom and Barry. Stay tuned and ways to support me are in the description. Take care and see you all soon!
I know that strange and hollow feeling well too. I knew my grandfather was sick and in the hospital, but instead of calling him, I kept putting it off due to work. I was in a different timezone so in order to call him, it would have to be during my work day. I was busy. I kept forgetting. I promised myself I'd do it the next day. Next day for sure. Then while at work one Thursday, my dad called and told me that grandpa had passed away. I never got to call him. I prioritized work instead of picking up the phone. I've come to peace with my frustration, but I still regret not taking the chance to speak to him one more time.
I would hope that my experience would be a story that people would have trouble trying to relate to, but it happens way too often. Your story of your grandfather breaks my heart and I hope you are doing well. Hope your grandfather rests in peace and hope you take care of yourself too!
It’s refreshing to see vulnerable and emotionally honest content. Thank you for this! The ironic detachment which has plagued nearly all of social media and the virtual world mirrors what you identify in Roy family dynamic- trauma based alienation from self and others and an inability to express empathy and vulnerability. It’s refreshing to see something so human
Thank you so much for watching. It's tough to put emotionally honest content out there on display for everyone to see, but I agree that we need far more vulnerability and connection compared to the isolation and detachment that social media has perpetuated
I could not agree more with Sam. I have been watching so many videos with well done but repetitive analysis of this show but your willingness to analyze this show in the context of your own life made think about how great art like this show affects people and holds a mirror to our lives. When you spoke about losing your father, your love for him was evident and it is a lovely tribute to him. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
The How much is a gallon of milk scene is the greatest scene in the whole show. Maybe the greatest television scene of all time in my opinion. It says so much by saying so little. The disconnect between the rich & lower class. How it truly seems like we live in 2 different worlds. It also shows Why Logan ultimately hates his children. They’ve never had to work for anything unlike Logan who didn’t come from money.
I’ve watched a lot of Succession video essays and for my money this is one of the best. While the disconnect the characters feel is obvious from the first few episodes the show constantly underlines and revisits it’s points. Characters often say the same thing different ways for comedic effect, plot points reoccur but are seen from different angles, so why not themes? I think the fact that these characters feel so disconnected from each other and the world is one of the main reasons the show resonates so deeply. It’s a funny, dark, well written show but the isolation pretty much everyone feels is at the center. It’s just as important an element as money, power, or trauma within the show. Thanks for taking the time to make this.
Thank you for taking the time to watch my video and for giving it such high praise! I definitely see the isolation at the center of the show and as a recurring theme throughout
I really respect you sharing about your dad and how you felt after losing him. I also lost my dad under sudden circumstances where I was not near him and I was too late to say anything meaningful to him in his last moments. That feeling of guilt and that you should have done more is overwhelming. The 3rd episode really struck me deep with the raw emotion of the siblings struggling to process the fact that they were witnessing the death of their father, completely separated and over the phone. Not nearly enough time to figure out what to say or how to feel. Even for the richest, most powerful people, this is the one circumstance that they cannot control. Amazingly written and edited video!
Thank you so much for watching and thank you for sharing your story about your dad as well. I hope you can know that it wasn't your fault. The feelings of guilt you may feel are valid feelings but I hope you can overcome them and take care of yourself!
This video had me in tears. My father is still with us, and our relationship to him is similar to that of the Roy children (minus the abuse). He is a hard, detached man and we were born lucky. He is very intelligent good at his work, but his familial relationship dynamics are terrible to non-existent. It's gotten worse since his mother passed in 2020. After our parents divorced, the relationship with him has unfortunately frayed even more. I was vulnerable with his this past holiday and received a 6 word reply. I fear the day when the sun sets on his life because so much was unsaid on his side of things and I'll never know how he truly felt. I'm happy to have heard that at least there were some happy, memorable times in your life with your dad. Hearing stories about his life when he was growing up, remember the things he did to ensure your happiness. We got none of that. The scene when the Roy children learned of Logan's passing definitely had me balling because all I could think of was my own father and the man he is. Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing a difficult time in your life with us.
I appreciate the way you incorporate and share your own experiences and challenges in a way that is not narcissistic or pretentious; I think it's also a key to why Succession is so powerful for so many people. Great work!
Thank you so much for watching! I am glad it comes off in a way that is not narcissistic or pretentious. I believe that learning important topics from a point of sincerity makes for the easiest way to learn. Glad you enjoyed it and glad you enjoy the show too! Such a great show
This is my favourite succession video essay. I’ve been searching for one word to describe what the Roy family is missing that has messed each of them up so intensely, and it’s definitely ‘connection’. I also really appreciate the realness you put forward here. I related to every personal connection you made to the show. When my dad passed I was in denial for a long time, and I really understood Roman’s breakdown at the funeral. I think the amazing thing about this show is that the audience can relate/connect with the characters despite them being so different from us. Thanks for the awesome video, cheers!
Thank you so much for such high praise and thank you so much for sharing your story. I loved that Roman's breakdown at the funeral felt so real, yet it was looked down upon by the outsiders. Thank you for watching and hope you are doing well!
Hey I’ve watched a few videos on succession after finishing it and this one is by far the best, not only did you explain the emptiness at the end of the series but you really made me think about myself and reflect on my own connections. Thank you for sharing memories and emotions of your father, even in 29 minutes you’ve shown why he is proud of you. In the context of my life to my father, who is incredibly close to Logan in many ways, I’m Connor but I’m happy to not engage in the games and that’s my win. I’ve found connections and love through my mother’s side and don’t think about him often at all, luckily. He has an incredible amount of businesses but I don’t want to run that race, I hope Conor finds his peace elsewhere, just because youre on outsider in one circle doesn’t mean you will be everywhere❤
With the incredible execution of timeless themes like family, wealth, and trauma, I predict Succession will have incredible staying power for generations to come.
Thank you for your very honest approach and sociological analysis from Succession. This series is a magic work of art. A ferocious criticism to the banality of consumerism and the lack of connections and time from a "simple" ultra rich family from the US to a full society as the Japanese one that you mentioned. Very fine and human point of view about symphaty and connectivity, sadness and happiness in our current society. Your story relates very much to my own personal life when my father passed away. That reference is common and could be exponential in our times when we provide more attention to the gains in money (success) than the family emotional shares. Huge topic to think about. Thank you again for this 30 minutes of reflection.
Thank you so much for your comment and for watching! Succession is such an amazing show and I wanted to give it justice and cover the wide range of topics that the show makes you think about. At the end of the day, the lack of connections for the characters is heartbreaking, but serves as a perfect, entertaining example of how we can live our lives. Thank you again!
This was a wonderful video essay: so personal and insightful. Thanks for sharing your personal experience losing your dad, and I agree with you in redefining winners and wealth in our lives in terms of connection. The Roys have all the conventional power and material reaches but seem to be cursed not to be able to connect at a deeper, human level
The winner was Logan Roy. He wanted to sell his company to GoJo and it happened. His kids never had a chance. Tom ended up being like Shiv in the previous seasons treating her cold as she did him Kendall was left alone with Colin (Logan's driver) and no family at all. Roman ended up where he began. And Greg, sadly was to stay but Mattson knows Greg is a traitor and he and Tom will play him with a salary cut to bare minimum plus hang him with all that might go wrong. Remember Greg has lied all through the series from his first scene right up until the end. I loved this show. Marsha said it all. Logan hurt everyone.
Kendall was left alone with Colin, who‘s not only his fathers driver and bodyguard (?), he‘s also the only other living person who knows for a fact that Kendall really killed another human, he knows and Kendall can’t deny it like he did with his siblings at the end. So Colin is a constant reminder of that, and kind of punishment for that, I loved that so much.
I'm a massive fan of succession, it's my favorite show and i've seen it probably 3 times (once all the way as it came out), on my 4th rewatch now. Logans death hit me hard because I had just lost 2 of my grandparents and them being my first big losses family wise. The phone call part made me cry because it felt exactly like what I had experienced. somehow this show got across what many fail to do. great video essay!
This was really well done. You put a lot into it, I can tell; you related it to your own life/ situations, experiences, and in a way that felt real, honest, and vulnerable-- and in a way that made the central ideas of your Succession critique feel much more personal and meaningful and relevant to reality, and not just as a film about a great work of fiction. Especially in talking about human sympathy vs basic human empathy, your trip to Japan and the subsequent panic attack and depression; it resonated with me (I avoided Japan because I was worried about panic, but I get what you're saying , too, about "eating..shopping.. eating ... shopping... eating..." hyper-ultra-consumerism really is bizarre, and I can see why you'd start to wonder about what it all means, when going to a place like that for the first time and suddenly being bombarded by it all). Depression sucks. I can empathize to a large extent with some of your story;. I remember having a remote job, travelling, and I wasn't wealthy, but I could go all over. And it was great to travel around and see the world and even just in this country: to travel all over; then after a while, I had a feeling similar to what you described, as it really seemed to resonate when you talked about that feeling of things seeming arbitrary, that, "what IS the point?,"-type feeling... It's lonely and it's weird and specific enough that a lot of people don't really get exactly where you're coming from and they just think you're spoiled because you're able to travel and see the world and they're not and the reality is it's not really what people think; it doesn't make a person super-wealthy just to travel and it doesn't mean that they're happier just because they see something else outside of the Shire, an effect that can be a cause of a lot of isolation and there's not enough personal connection and there's such a strong emphasis to be successful financially. Sorry I'm ranting I just really like your video a whole lot and it really touched me. You rock. Great sequencing work , by the way, it seemed pretty seamless and flawless, and left me just wanting to watch more Succession, and watch more of your videos, and yet I didn't feel like it was lacking in any way. Mad props.
Don't ever feel sorry for ranting! I love reading it and hearing your thoughts! The thoughts about the hyper-ultra-consumerism are great and the idea of traveling the world with a remote job can be isolating too. I think a lot of people are shocked to hear that traveling the world isn't the greatest thing in the world because that's what vacations are for, and people who are constantly in "vacation mode" struggle to appreciate it as much, especially without meaningful connections. Thank you so much for watching and for sharing your thoughts. I am so grateful that you enjoyed it!
love this. brilliantly worded and edited. this video managed to touch me on a personal level which i can’t appreciate enough. (also love how you used the TLOU soundtrack in the video, which also happens to be one of my favorites lmao)
Thank you so much for watching! TLOU has an amazing soundtrack and I also made a video about it using the soundtrack too that I hope you check out and enjoy too!
This was excellent The most joined up - dare I say ‘connected ‘essay about Succession on You Tube Think you drilled to the core of what this programme is really about and why it resonates with so many people - even if they’re not billionaires Outstanding !
Thank you so much for watching! I am glad that you enjoyed it and that you could 'connect' the ideas in the video and what the core of the programme is about with how it relates with people.
seriously amazing video. Having grown up with a very similar father to logan (emotionally/power wise, not financially), it's scary how much I can relate to it all. without a mother of the opposite nature, I wouldn't have been able to learn what empathy was, and learned to not admire that transactional, robotic form of love and connection that some use as currency. having to carefully orchestrate through conversations to avoid potential blackmail when you're 10 can do a number on you're psychology haha. Sadly the roy children don't have any examples of reality growing up
Thank you for sharing your story and I hope you are doing well. It's chilling to see a dysfunctional family yet relate to them in certain ways that you had never expected, but I think it's also warming to know that trauma isn't isolated and that there's so many people who experience similar circumstances that became resources for those in need. I hope we all find the people in our lives that make everything better. Thank you for watching and really great animations on your channel!
What a wonderful tribute to your father! You beautifully put into words how you felt about your dad and what you have learned from his passing about life and yourself. I was really moved by your honesty and the vulnerability that you felt. Thank you for sharing this experience. I think it shows how we are more alike than different , and that love connections between people really is the most important and valuable part of life. Blessings to you and yours! ❤️🌺🌼🌷🌹🌸🌻
This video essay is incredible, thank you for sharing yourself - I see so many parts of myself in each of the character flaws and successes in succession, it’s as if each and every character is a part of all of us.
Thank you for watching, and thank you for being willing to watch a video where I talk about myself and experiences. I think all great art has the ability to make us see ourselves in them
What an awesome video! Well produced. I think what got most people hooked the simplistic plot of "money doesn't buy happiness" in the beginning episodes and even the wealthiest can be unhappy and either validates in terms of measure, they have a better quality of life because they may not be wealthy they can find happeniness or they are unhappy and can discern no matter how hard the struggle of life and even if you are at the very top of society it's the same outcome unhappiness, like the Roy Family. I hope all of you are the former and not the latter. What this show quickly does it gets you vested in the characters. The plot development is unlike any other show I have seen. So masterfully thought out with sudden shifts the unpredictability keeps you wanting more. Then add on the comic relief at the show and last and the most important is the acting. Most shows I find myself getting so engrossed blur reality with what is being watched. With Succession, I am purposefully distance somewhat, admiring the level of acting. Waiting for that next truly miraculous moment where one the actors in that one seen encapsulates a truly Emmy winning scene and this show is littered with them. There are so many but the Tom and Shiv beach and balcony scene (1 and 2), Kendall going to Stewy and Sandy after Logan doesn't show (3), Kendall's press conference (4), Logan talking to Kendall when it's Kendall who is decided to take the fall (5), Logan meeting with Pierce and the deal it's a snag (6), Roman telling Mattison off on the mountain (7), Tom and Kendall meeting and Tom telling Kendall how Logan always wins (8), Shiv speaking to Logan who is already dead over the phone (9). I could go on for days. With the show coming to an end in just two episodes. I have no doubt that these truly unique moments when they are all happening and we identify they are going to come flooding in. And my ultimate hope is the final scene of the entire show ends on one of this masterful moments, similar to the end of Season 2 with Kendall at the press conference. Where it is so shocking and so well acted where it draws a conclusion for some form of closure but also leaves it open to interpretation.
Thank you so much for watching! It's great to hear your passion for the show and thank you for sharing your thoughts! I agree that the show can bring you in easily with the "simplistic plot" but the quality of everything takes it to another level. I hope you enjoyed the finale! I'd love to hear your opinions on the show now that it's all over. I, for one, loved how it ended and it felt like a perfect tragic ending that left everyone disconnected more than ever.
This was beautiful and poignant man! Thought I’d be watching a standard succession video, turns out it’s a thoughtful and resonant essay on human nature and the value of connection. Chills. Exceptionally well done.
I had a panic attack in Tokyo too! Got it right at the crossing, was crazy seeing just such a large number of people in such a condensed spot, with all the lights and advertising everywhere. Took a few days to adjust.
That is something that is very weird but heartwarming to relate to someone with! Glad that there are people who have similar experiences and I hope you are doing well!
Saw this on my front page, thought nothing about it. Watched the video was totally blown away about the depth and openness of it all. I was curious about the view count because I thought this is probably from a massive channel. My jaw dropped and I instantly subscribes. I look forward to more of your videos!
I had the exact same experience in Japan. I had all the same feelings, alienation, anxiety, loneliness. I was surprised at the level of consumerism and the amount of merchandise sold there . The shrines were a relief, even if they were a harsh contrast to all the stores and restaurants. However, I felt better in quieter places, close to nature. Japanese nature is beautiful.
I loved the shrines and nature! It felt unbelievable to be "out in nature" but also still in a city area in some parks. Thanks for sharing and thank you for watching!
I thought the Japanese business succession secret of nominating the son in law for the CEO position had a very wise significance about the corporate future. The biological kids don't always have the competence. They lack competitive edges.
Thank you for watching and glad you enjoyed it! I apologize for the burst of emotional material! I know a lot of people don't expect it when watching the video
@@sablestew I will ! And I can’t believe there are only 2 eps left of succession. Ik the ending is gonna be something no one expects, and some ppl may not like.
@King Fadal I can see a time jump. It would probably make sense to see Shiv with her baby and where the kids end up. I also saw a theory where it showed Ken, unhappy and surrounded by everyone in the company except his family as the last shot of the show. Lots of possibilities here!
Wow...amazed by this take on Succession, the best I've seen yet. I'm only watching this show atm, so won't be watching the other videos, but, bro, you deserve my subscription and like a million times. Thank you, for this!
What an incredible take. I love that you focus on what’s truly important in life: connection and feeling loved and valued. It’s sad that in this digital capitalistic age we find ourselves lonelier and less connected than before. Thank you for sharing, and I’m excited to see what else you create 👏
Thank you so much for watching and I hope you enjoy my next videos as well! I love to focus on what's important to me in my life and hearing others like it warms my heart.
Your analysis is the best I've seen. You didn't get tied up in whether Kendall, Shiv or Roman deserved to be crowned(most people would say, CEO is a BS job that anybody can do). You saw that the show is asking the question: How the desire for power/wealth makes people unhappy. Humans evolved to cooperate with each other and when you make your own friends and family adversaries, your emotional well being will suffer. You can't take the money to the grave with you. So treat the people around you better and stop worrying about money so much.
Thank you for such high praise and thank you for watching! I am glad you enjoyed it and the themes that the desire for power/wealth makes people unhappy.
I know it is strange but I ALWAYS rooted only for Ken. In every episode. Every scene. I don’t know why but I just always did. This is why the end was so heart breaking for me and still makes me think. But it was the best and most logical ending possible.
This is more than a simple review of succession, is a very deep conversation about life. That happened to me when I immigrate 2 times in my life the second time was more difficult because I achieve a high standard of living due to a great work but then I got little bit lost in how to enjoy it
Thank you so much for sharing. I hope you are doing well and taking time to enjoy life more. Though work may provide a better life, not spending the time to enjoy life makes the work meaningless. Thank you for watching!
@@sablestew Is difficult when you really like what you do and define yourself but I used the same drives for different goals. I really like this video because in the road of success even when you are already succesfull is not an easy route even though you have money.
Wow! What a beautiful analysis. Unfortunately, this show is all too relatable for myself. From an emotional stand point of course. I have so many emotions when I watch it and I think it may be my favorite drama that I’ve ever seen. I love the writing and the psychology of this toxic family, but what makes it great is that I can relate and understand the characters even though these are completely different scenarios obviously.
Thank you for watching! Succession is definitely a really great show and it's always so weird to relate to these billionaires, but the emotions portrayed are universal.
Very interesting and well thought out video!! I really enjoy your takes. Sorry about your own loss, I hope you’ve been able to recover or well live on with what happened. When I lose my dad I fear succession will become the comfort and reminder of him. Sounds stupid but I really resonate with each individual kid so well. Can’t believe im attending Logan Roy’s funeral tonight.
Thank you for watching and for your condolences. Watching Roman break down at the funeral was depressing and seeing the rest of the cast react to his in a demeaning way for it was heartbreaking. I hope you take care!
It's very true that connection is what they ignore that would cause all their unhappiness but connection isn't all. It happens that I watch the show when studying the conditionality concept from the dharma, everything is connected in an infinite web, knowing that connection is a fact of life that suggests compassion but knowing that I depend on others in many ways would suggests something that is equally important, that is humility.
I started fully backing Tom and Greg after the hunting episode where those two and Karl got humiliated by Logan in front of everyone. Tom had the chance to rat Greg out but instead, he kept quiet and saved Greg’s neck - one of the rare occasions in this show where a character isn’t actively looking after themselves.
Nerdwriter does some amazing videos! As I'm still fairly new to the video essay scene, it's inspiring to find so many great creators like him who make deep and intriguing videos and analyses
Found this video by chance. Fantastic and insightful observations and analysis. Stunned you have only 556 subs; I guess you're not giving TH-cam enough money to get their algorithms to work for you. I've been to Tokyo and Seoul, totally get what you said about the alienation, but to be fair, I live in Paris and the level of alienation and loneliness mixed with zombie connection to digital and consumption is about the same. The difference may be that Far East Asians are products of and conditioned by Confucianism which make them completely docile and obedient to authority, personal expression is strictly discouraged. Though I really appreciate Succession for its high quality in writing, acting, cinematography, the show brings me down, I don't feel good after watching each episode. Every character is a sociopathic asshole. Though one could argue that the creators of this show addressed heart and humanity by their omission, I think the show would be far more powerful with just one character who still has genuine heart and humanity, as was the case in King Lear.
TH-cam has graciously awarded me more subscribers so I am grateful for that. I guess they got my check in the mail. Excited to continue to make more. That's an interesting viewpoint! Zombie connections are all too common in this digital age and the teachings of Confucianism isn't something I'm too familiar with but could be interesting to learn more about. And I totally get you about Succession. It was actually a rare show that I found was better airing weekly rather than binging it because it gets too depressing and the week allows the emotions and ideas of the show to sit with you. I think the show also exhibits a glimpse of a genuine heart for the characters as some you are shocked when they show a bit of compassion, but then immediately remind you that they're awful. One character who had heart would have been an interesting dynamic, but I fear they would not have survived the show. The good always go too early Thanks for sharing your thoughts and thank you so much for watching!
Greg continues to inch his way to the top. Royco is a news organization and Greg Roy has the inside scoop. S1E1 foreshadowed all of this. Glad to see my multi-year predictions are coming to pass with each new episode. After all, Greg is a Roy.
If Greg is anywhere close to winning by the end, it would be disappointing. He should end just as he started, being a leech leeching off someone more important
@@sablestew. IMHO, the winners were those that finally got out of that toxic family corporation. Which means the “winners” are actually the losers. At least from my point of view. I wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere near that business. I’m a psychotherapist!
Nothing changes, Dickens made observations on people just like these in Victorian times, and expressed them better. Matthew Mcfadyen acted in one of the best of them, 'Little Dorrit'.
I believe that the simplest of things can have the most profound impact on people. Whether it's an idea or just a single phrase, words can change people. Thank you for watching!
Matteson won, tom was at second place, Greg and Shiv are at a distant third Logan 'retired', Connor was never in consideration, Roman lost but he never played to actually win, Kendall LOST
I don’t know who will win at the end. What I do know is that Connor Roy was interested in politics at a very young age
That’s one thing we know for sure
In addition to showing a lot of insight, the inclusion of that line was brilliantly timed and delivered.
that's so true🤣
Because he never had the makings of a varsity athlete
I would add that we also know that Tom is here to serve
I know that strange and hollow feeling well too. I knew my grandfather was sick and in the hospital, but instead of calling him, I kept putting it off due to work. I'm in this position right now.

10000% agree!
why did a succession essay made me cry. this is amazing. best video-essay I've seen in a while.
Thank you for such high praise and thank you for watching!

Such a great show
My sincere congratulations on a very thoughtful, caring evaluation on the characters in the show.
Thank you so much for watching!
The TH-cam algorithm is something else, works of art like this is why I watch video essays. Absolute gem and insightful.
Thank you for watching and thank you TH-cam Algorithm for pushing my video
This is one of the best video essays on succession
In 30 minutes, it portrays the dissonance within succession like no other
Thank you for such high praise and thank you for watching!
Thank you for sharing your experience, thank you for being vulnerable. Thank you for this beautiful video.
Thank you so much for watching! Hope you take care!
Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment! I appreciate it and glad you enjoyed the video!
The Mass Effect 3 soundtrack making an appearance only made this vid essay better! Amazing work. That phone call episode was brutal.
The phone call episode had me depressed for days. Glad you caught the ME soundtrack! Thanks for watching!
This was excellent
The most joined up - dare I say ‘connected ‘essay about Succession on You Tube
Think you drilled to the core of what this programme is really about and why it resonates with so many people - even if they’re not billionaires
Outstanding !
Agree with you - this is superb!
Thank you so much for watching! I am glad that you enjoyed it and that you could 'connect' the ideas in the video and what the core of the programme is about with how it relates with people.
Thank you for sharing that story about your father and for making this great and honest content. May he rest in power 🙏🏽💪🏼
Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words about my father! I hope to continue to make honest content for the future!
Such a beautiful video essay, man. That’s why this show is one of the greatest of all time.
Thank you for watching! I appreciate it and definitely agree that this show was one of the greatest of all time!
seriously amazing video.
Thank you so much for your comment and for watching. I am incredibly grateful that you enjoyed it!
This video essay is incredible, thank you for sharing yourself - I see so many parts of myself in each of the character flaws and successes in succession, it’s as if each and every character is a part of all of us.
Thank you for watching, and thank you for being willing to watch a video where I talk about myself and experiences. I think all great art has the ability to make us see ourselves in them
Your empathy n sympathy breakdown was fantastic
Thank you! I tried my best to be able to convey these topics in an easy yet engaging way
What an awesome video!
This was a excellent analysis. I think we can all see a bit of ourselves in this video and just how important connection is.
Very well done.
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching!
The Last of us 2 music was surprisingly fitting lmao
This was beautiful and poignant man! Thought I’d be watching a standard succession video, turns out it’s a thoughtful and resonant essay on human nature and the value of connection. Chills. Exceptionally well done.
Thank you so much for watching and I am very glad you enjoyed it!
Your video was perfect. Thank you so much for being vulnerable with us
Thank you so much for watching and such high praise! Thank you for listening to my vulnerability, and I'm so glad the video left an impact for you.
Saw this on my front page, thought nothing about it. Watched the video was totally blown away about the depth and openness of it all. I was curious about the view count because I thought this is probably from a massive channel. My jaw dropped and I instantly subscribes. I look forward to more of your videos!
Thank you so much for watching! I hope you'll enjoy my future videos!
Thanks for you work and thoughts around your video essay. Your personal touch is very stirring. Congrats.
Thank you so much for watching!
Wow, didn’t expect to get emotional watching a video essay on succession haha - beautiful video man, thanks.
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for such a heartfelt and meaningful video essay. I really enjoyed listening to it.
Thank you so much for watching! I am so glad you enjoyed it!
Well this review was a trojan horse for some very strong emotional stuff! I enjoyed it.❤
Thank you for watching and glad you enjoyed it! I apologize for the burst of emotional material! I know a lot of people don't expect it when watching the video
Excellent video! That’s one of the best video essays about succession that I have seen. Up there with the likes of “Just an observation”. Keep it up 👍
Love the "Just an Observation" channel so that's an amazing compliment! Thank you so much for watching!
Amazing analysis! And thanks for sharing your personal story.
Thank You for watching!
Good video man! Underrated channel here, keep going I’m tuned in. I see u have a Saul video there imma watch that one later.
Thank you so much! I appreciate it and let me know what you think about my Better Call Saul video!
@@sablestew I will ! And I can’t believe there are only 2 eps left of succession. Ik the ending is gonna be something no one expects, and some ppl may not like.
@King Fadal Yeah I'm super excited to see what happens. I have absolutely no idea how it could possibly end in just 2 more episodes!
@@sablestew I’m gonna predict in the finale that the final 30/40 mins will be a time jump. Because the finale will be 90minutes
Thank you so much for your sub! I truly appreciate it and thank you for watching!
I love succession but your video has a depth and richness missing in other videos. Thank you for your openness. Great video.
Thank you so much for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Excited for the last 2 episodes of Succession!
This video came up on my dash and wow, can’t believe it’s only got 1k views. This was incredible content. Awesome job
Thank you so much for watching, and thank you to the TH-cam algorithm. Glad you liked it!
I loved this so much. Thank you for sharing so vulnerably. ❤
Thank you so much for watching and I am very grateful that you enjoyed it!
What a great video !! Thank you for sharing and I love how you brought your life and experience into the summary 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you so much for watching and for leaving a comment!
Excellent video! I'm glad I stuck around to watch all of it.
Thank you for watching and glad you stuck around to watch all of it too!
Beautiful video. Very original analysis and made me cry.
Thank you so much for watching it!
Great video. I subscribed, keep up the excellent work! You deserve a huge following.
Thank you so much for the comment and for watching! I appreciate it a ton and hope to grow to be able to make more content!
Beautiful perspective. Thank you for sharing your story.
Thank you so much for watching!
Such a great video, the way it connects with the audience is powerful
So grateful that you enjoyed it and thank you so much for watching!
Thanks for the video. I'm looking forward ⏩ tonight's episode. I absolutely DETEST Greg.
Season 4 Greg is far more unlikeable than season 1 Greg. He's just getting worse as time goes by. Happy Succession Day!
the winners are the viewers of the show
This was so uncomfortable to watch- Succession was so brutal.
This was beautiful Sir.
Thank you so much for watching and for the compliment. Out of even the most uncomfortable shows, beauty can blossom.
Gerri is the only winner
It's very true that connection is what they ignore that would cause all their unhappiness but connection isn't all. It happens that I watch the show when studying the conditionality concept from the dharma, everything is connected in an infinite web, knowing that connection is a fact of life that suggests compassion but knowing that I depend on others in many ways would suggests something that is equally important, that is humility.
That is true. Humility is something the Roy family lacks as well! Thanks for sharing!
@@sablestew In the end, the three siblings discovered that they're nothing, the show was finally about humility also.
You played 2 of my favourite favourite pieces of piano music😊
That's wonderful! I always have to be very particular and careful with the songs I choose. Which ones were your favorites?
Such a great vid, thank you for this
Thank you for watching!
Fuck dude, that personal story has me tearing up, I think I'm gonna call my Dad
Hope you and your dad enjoy the call!
Omg i forgot about Connor until you mentioned him lol
Story of his life :(
I started fully backing Tom and Greg after the hunting episode where those two and Karl got humiliated by Logan in front of everyone. Tom had the chance to rat Greg out but instead, he kept quiet and saved Greg’s neck - one of the rare occasions in this show where a character isn’t actively looking after themselves.
Thumbs up on mentioning Nerdwriter! That video is amazing.
Nerdwriter does some amazing videos! As I'm still fairly new to the video essay scene, it's inspiring to find so many great creators like him who make deep and intriguing videos and analyses
Awesome video essay man, you’re about to blow up
Thank you for the support! Hopefully I can reach 1000 subscribers and then we can see from there
Found this video by chance.
The good always go too early
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and thank you so much for watching!
Beautiful and insightful.
Massive respect. Amazing video
Great video. Did I hear "An End, Once and for Al"? I'm also a huge Mass Effect fan!
Thank you, and the Mass Effect soundtrack is *chefs kiss*
Excellent review!
Really enjoyed your analysis, hope you keep it up! This show is so well thought out and written!
Thank you so much and glad you liked it! I'm excited to see how they'll end it all
Greg continues to inch his way to the top. Royco is a news organization and Greg Roy has the inside scoop.
S1E1 foreshadowed all of this.
Glad to see my multi-year predictions are coming to pass with each new episode.
After all, Greg is a Roy.
Ah yes the classic Game of Thrones ending. Greg getting on top would be hilarious and devastating at the same time.
If Greg doesn’t win we riot
@@sablestew Greg has been smart enough to keep his head down, ears open, and shut his mouth.
Great analysis! =)
Thank you for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
Beautifully spoken ❤
Thank you! And thank you for watching!
Excellent, heartfelt commentary!
Excellent, heartwarming comment! Thank you so much for watching!
the winners are matson, and to a degree, Tom.
Nothing changes, Dickens made observations on people just like these in Victorian times, and expressed them better. Matthew Mcfadyen acted in one of the best of them, 'Little Dorrit'.
If they were all just happy with their wealth and power they would all be winners. But none of that is ever enough for these people.
This is a really good video!
A really good comparison with the Japanese culture
Thank you for watching! I'm grateful you enjoyed it!
Don’t more people get that the real winners are the ones that got away from such a toxic business?
Wamsband clearly won
What you say has been said before. But the simple and profound nature of your video is truly beautiful.
I believe that the simplest of things can have the most profound impact on people. Whether it's an idea or just a single phrase, words can change people. Thank you for watching!
Matteson won, tom was at second place, Greg and Shiv are at a distant third
Logan 'retired', Connor was never in consideration, Roman lost but he never played to actually win, Kendall LOST
is this the best video i have ever watched?
Thank you for watching!
Colin‘s eye contact would make me commit fckn everything i did bad in my life 👀
lovely video, enjoy every sec, even the Japan section.
Thank you for watching and glad you enjoyed the Japan part! Definitely risky to put that out there in a Succession related video
The winners are those not born into the Roy family.
Very well done!!
This is great
Nice mass effect soundtrack
Thank you for watching and noticing!
Who are the Winners in Succession? easy, the shareholder.....
Until the kids tank the stock price... (though we will see what happens in these last 2 episodes!)
