My only regret is to never see the real MV of this song again from my childhood, been searching for this song for a few year's with vivid memory of if yet nostalgic feelings, picturing the video of a guy and girl singing so magnificently on a magestic and luminous green garden. Sadly no traces of the real music video is nowhere to be found 🥲 This song use to be a hit back then. So why does other youtubers that make oldies Top list on love songs did not include this incredibly beautiful song on their list 😮💨
The show is PACKED with good tunes and of course ALW's real mastery is in the way he uses the themes throughout the shows tounderscore emotion/plot development..the man is a modern day Wagner of popular culture! I do unfortunately have to concur with anthony that many of his rewrites would have been better left alone. However I believe there is much life in him yet and Whistle down the wind I believe marked a turning point in his more recent work which can only be encouraging.
I saw this on broadway... during its short run. The music is classic ALW. I love it. The set was projected on screens and at one point broke down. In my opinion I think that is why it failed. WLW, w cats and phantom, set the bar for music AND sets. When he makes (or whoever does) simple... they never go well. i.e... Love never dies. The sequel to phantom. The london version was very basic. I dont think it lasted 30 days... I may be wrong. But it never made it to NYC. The sidney version, they went all out and was just as innovative as the original phantom was at its time.
wooooow.... i really prefer that musical show to the one made by duncan & keedie .. although i love duncan so much .. but the show is more emotional & fall of passions..
I have to respectfully disagree. I think most of the songs from this musical are fantastic, and I'm sorely disappointed that it's not more widely known. Evermore Without You, All For Laura, If I Could Dream This World Away, Trying Not to Notice... all of them are amazing, I think. And even the 'filler/story songs' like Perspective and I Hope You'll Like it Here are ridiculously catchy and fun to sing in random groups of confused people. xP Or maybe I'm just a hopeless musical geek. 8)
Yea it's my fav number from WIW. But unfortunately I feel that the rest of the numbers are of uneven quality. Pity. Which must have impeded its progress in broadway...
Saw it in London with the original cast and this one.....this one was better apart from Ruthie who was too good looking to play Marion. It's a superb show and I prefer it to Phantom. So romantic and the music is complex and involving.
I had the Duncan and Keedie version as our first dance for our wedding, and it was perfect. Thanks for sharing this xxx
I am in love with this song and video! Their voices are rich and beautiful! Can anyone else see them as Marius and Cosette?
I love the music from Woman in White, especially this song. I wish it did catch on. I would love to seen it.
I love this song

Criticise Webber's productions, but not his songwriting ability. The Man is a genius

This is beautiful, it really is, even if the melody is Shostakovich 7...
Wow... I never realised that before, but you're right!

is he supposed to jump from an octave to another or it's just a matter of interpretation?
