If you document your trip sent me a link. I love watching when I can't go myself. I used my iPhone to document my sections and took a couple of cheap battery packs to recharge with. The trail is a little neglected but I was able to find blazes most of the time.
Thanks for the great videos. I'm thinking of doing section 3 or 4 in April. What kind of hammock are you using? I'm thinking of trying the hammock myself and leaving the tent at home.
I use the Grand Trunk. I'm 250 and it's held up well. I got the one with the bug net but the rain fly was a little pricey so I use a cheap tarp instead. It's easy to put up once you get the hang of it. Turn at a slight angle to the hammock and you can lay flat. Took me a while to learn that trick. I'm headed back out for section 4 in a week or so. Thanks for watching and post your video for the rest of us when you get back.
+Durward Cook I figure we will attack the trail in sections also. Our first goal is the Eagle Rock Loop in late January or early February. I did a scout of the route in the the west side on 12-29/30 . climbed one of the mountains and camped overnight. Saw bear scat. plenty of water though. One of the things about the OT is lack of water.
I started out hanging and got lax after the first week. If you look closely You can see the trash and food bag hanging on the pack. It was our own fault. Lesson learned! Thanks for watching.
thanks for the trail information planning my trip for 2016

Are you guys still planning to do section 4 and beyond? The bear visit was off the chain! Thanks for the effort of sharing this.
Yes, my goal is to do the entire trail. When I'm not out there I'm thinking about it and what the next section will be like. Thanks for watching.

Have you done 4 yet? I did 3 in June. Terrible idea. Gonna go back and do 2 in December 2017.
Did yall leave your food in the pack or did you hang it away from camp?
