  • We were approached by an Amazon seller to review their cordless ratchet. In a moment of weakness, we decided to give it a try. At only $59, this EastVolt 12V Cordless 3/8" Ratchet is supposed to have 35 ft-lbs of torque. They also claim to have a 2Ah 12-volt battery, but we give you the true numbers in the video. #cordlessratchet #amazon #bestratchet

    2000mah is 2ah but 12v x 2ah = 24wh

      Yup, I'm a doofus and I messed that one up. i do understand the math, but my brain had the trigger lock on or something. Thanks for watching and keeping me honest.

      Note that this exaggerates the voltage. “12v” power tool batteries use three cells, which are only 12v for a little bit of time right off the charger. They’re closer to 10v most of the time. The nominal voltage of each cell is 3.6v.

      @@gf2eahh, yes, that is true for all battery operated items....there is static voltage and underload voltage. We are looking at battery voltage rating or static voltage. Take car companies, they rate said engine to have 375hp,you are not getting 375hp to the wheels.

    That actually is a speed adjustment. When you lock the trigger, it doesn't turn on, so 0 RPM. When you unlock it, you get full RPM. :)

    I've got a Hart brand cordless ratchet and I love it. I'd say it runs close to the DeWalt in power and I've had it right at a year and not easy on it at all and it's held up great.

      I appreciate that, I really do. I don't think I can recommend this to DIY or homeowners. There are too many other options out there. This thing is basically junk. Thanks for watching, as always.

    I’m impressed because of how you could swing it and it breaks it and on others you have to hand torque it

    Thanks for your honest opinion it seems like the cordless ranches that have the bullet style battery that goes up in the body seems to make it stronger. I. Definitely agree cordless ratchets are nut runners, I bought the newest Snap On brushless cordless ratchet and they rate that I believe at 160 foot pounds of manual torque. So at the end of the day, I think you going to buy a cheaper ratchet. Make sure it’s got a strong body.

    is there any way to get additional batteries for these tools? i have the 12v air compressor with one battery, the page on amazon said it came with a 12v cigaret adapter but mine did not come with it. so im looking for additional batteries, or at very least an adapter for standard tool batteries.

    I use a cheapo one all the time and it stands up pretty good. If your a pro don't get but if you only work on your own stuff it maybe fine. I grab my cheap one before my matco infinite one just cause it's not as heavy

    Can you do a direct comparison between the 12v Makita and 12v Dewalt. And maybe show off the 20v versions too. Would be very interested in that. Trying to pick between all of these

    Just got my 12v and 20v impact wrench and ratchet kit for 199$ I drove everywhere and after verifying store after store. One employee said it’s in the store somewhere. He said employees hide deals like that to buy it for a flip. Anyway he found a big box of 5 kits. I bought 2. The gentleman said for your troubles driving around. I’m gonna leave them up here on 3rd shelf. If you don’t come pick up the last 3in a few days I’ll put them on the floor. You know I’m going back. Anyway 199 for 2 tools that are almost at 200 alone is a steal. Got the carry bag and 2 tools with batteries and charger. In stores untill 1/22/23.

    *Great Video* I would've liked to see a tear down or see at what lbs of torque can/will caused catastrophic failure of that weak spot.

    • @waynefilkins8394
      @waynefilkins8394 ปีที่แล้ว

      same I want to see what the motor and gearbox look like. Might use the motors from these for a project (haven't seen torque output in video yet so depends on that) I feel like they aren't going to be 40 ft lbs like it says on this one I'm looking at on amazon...that seems very misleading.

  • @brucemoriarty9964
    @brucemoriarty9964 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great honesty. They really are nut runners. To get a real impact ratchet ya have to use air powered.

    • @matthewdomke6737
      @matthewdomke6737 ปีที่แล้ว

      Air ratchets don't impact either they are just nut runners like the cordless ratchets.

    Thank you Tim. You are absolutely awesome my brother. I would not buy that tool at all. I don’t like how a lot of these companies deceive us quality and the torque output of these tools. And they’re no kind of tool governing body to put these lying and deceitful companies in check for us customers. 🇺🇸😎🇺🇸

    3 series connected 2000mah is 2ah @ "12v". 5 series connected 2000mah is still 2ah but @ "18 or 20v".

  • @Dave-dh7rt
    @Dave-dh7rt ปีที่แล้ว +1

    2000mah is 2AH. 1000mah is 1AH. Like andrew said, it is a 24wh battery.

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, you are correct. I had a lapse of memory for a few moments, I guess. I do understand this math, but I got it all mumble-jumbled. My brain calculated 12V x 2Ah = 24Wh and then I was thinking 2400mAh. Not correct at all. Thanks for keeping us honest and thanks for watching.

  • @SilverTreasures
    @SilverTreasures 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You butchered the ah rating part. You got confused and calculated the watt hours when doing your calculation. 2000mah is 2ah regardless of the voltage.

  • @hanyoukimura
    @hanyoukimura ปีที่แล้ว

    While the criticism is warranted, I feel like recommending jumping straight to the pro brands is a little far reaching. Would have been good to recommend the likes of SKIL, HART, Craftsman and/or Ryobi. SKIL gets you a complete kit for $130 for the 12v PWR CORE which reviewed well, while the Ryobi at $169 gets you extended reach and some of the best nut busting torque of these ratchets you've tested.

  • @puffnstuff12
    @puffnstuff12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Even the Skill PWR core 12v right angle impact driver is a better deal than that one is.

      @luisinhoens90 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used to own the 2557-20 with 55 ft/lbs but it got stolen and replaced it with the high speed one. I think I like the previous one better for the extra torque; I see myself assisting the new one much more frequently.. My 2c

  • @luisinhoens90
    @luisinhoens90 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's a 2Ah battery; the 2000mAh on the decal checks out. Whether those claims are true or not, that's another story.
    PS. That battery looks strikingly similar to a DeWalt or Makita 12V battery. Wondering if any of those will slide in

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you guys are correct. My brain slipped for a few moments. I was thinking 12V x 2Ah = 24Wh and then converting that to 2400mAh. I was just plain wrong, and I know that math. Thanks for pointing that out and thanks for watching.
