The Negev Brigade have cleared at least seventeen Hamas tunnels in the northern town of Beit Hanoun, which has been reduced to an urban wasteland. The IDF show how they found one Hamas tunnel beside a kindergarten, and say the terror group continues to ruthlessly exploit civilians.

Of course they knew, but it's not like they were in a position to object. That doesn't mean that Israel can't attack the tunnels, even if there is civilian infrastructure in the way, but in a dictatorship, it's hard to object with the guys with the guns.

Many of these civilians who tend to cling to their residences in the battle zone have either one of their kith or kin working with Hamas. Being associated with Hamas is the major source of income in Gaza. So even if the IDF( Israeli Defence Forces) ask them to evacuate the area, they wouldn't because their relatives from Hamas would deter them from doing so. Operationally they become human shields for the Hamas, yet their faith and belief systems would keep them there as allegiance for hamas because they believe they have to support the cause, the cause that Israel is an enemy that has to be eradicated at any cost, even the cost of their own children, their own lives and belongings!!! Quite pathetic a situation. All these tunnel networks, arms and ammunition acquisition by the Hamas would have been built up over many years. I wonder what Israeli intelligence was doing.
