@johngorgis as long as there are uppity white guys or just uppity people in general who think that art has to be something people can recognize. then graff art will allways be looked down upon. my dad is a painter for the city of tacoma and it hurts to hear his oppinons on how he thinks that the art in the free wall garage is still vandalism.
although im mainly into the illegal side of graff i do like piecing and do think this is actually pretty cool and shows that cities can be open minded about graff. rather see permission murals than nothing.
haha ive been to the place they show at 0:35 its right in the old alley i did 2 pieces there during the big graff show thing there were SOOO many good artists there its unbelievable i got pictures of mine and others shit just hit me up and ill give you links
theres a difference between graffiti and vandalism graffiti is the art form of hip hop while vandalism is the defacing of private property theres two sides of it the gangs just make it look bad
It may be a signature, but I always thought a real artist used his or her signature on a piece of art. Where is the art? If it's just a signature, how better is this than anyone wandering around Toronto with a black spray can writing their name on everything. What do I admire? The curvature of the vowels? The angles of the consonants? I have no issue a piece of art that really has something to add to the dreary concrete landscape. But just plain black scrawls? I still don't get this.
I notice that the program shows great art - incredible artistry. I don't have an issue with this. What about the walls full of black painted letters that have nothing to do with the great artwork? No shading, no images, no textures, There is a lot of stuff painted on walls that is purely defacing. There is nothing expressive or "art form" about many of this. Is this to be encouraged?
lol, theres no way that all graff is gang related like the common misconception was. this thing is right, "5 % is gang related". but this one time, a funny story; i was walkin down yonge, and i saw this tagged up truck go by with huge letters 'Bz up Cz down', i laughed tho cuz its prolly just some kid... :P
if you paint property that does not belong to you. you are going to jail. duh. dont touch other peoples property. your mom taught u that. oh ya, u dont know ur mom
So? What's wrong with gangster's doing graffiti? It's better then getting shot, otherwise in graffiti doesnt really do much difference but atleast your still alive :\

99.9% of graffiti is done by KIDS (which is why 99.9% of graffiti is garbage).
ALL GRAFFITI IS GANG RELATED!! bottom line
