Kallis's contribution to South African cricket is just unmatched, He is the best cricketer to have played test cricket no doubt about it.. More than 13 k runs 290+ wickets and more than 200 catches.. I don't think this record will ever be broken..
Those were the best days ❤ cricket was magic. Commentary is also addictive. I watch highlights from 1996 to 2010's cricket. Now a days cricket is boring. Only hitting 6s. Not interested.
south africa and england always a tough series that time....i remember this whole 5 match series ...watched with my father every ball to ball live coverage...one of my best series
Not really coz once they won the ashes they let their foot of the pedal and lost badly in Pakistan against an average team and that just opened the doors for 2006 5 nil ashes
@@Ron-pm3qk I was talking about the 2005 ashes team. After that they had peaked, injuries took hold, mental issues, new captain, flintoff was playing with no knees. But 2/3 years prior to the 2005 ashes they were a great team. And peaked just at the right moment.
@@Ron-pm3qk if you are realistic here, and look at the previous 20/30 years of English cricket before them. They left a legacy. First ashes win in donkeys years, played entertaining cricket - completely unknown to English cricket before.
legendary series....just listen the crowd noise which is unmatched in today's generation watching and enjoying test cricket....its all fault of huge and unecessary money ....that time only one world cup happens which creates excitement and players also maintain their personal and career life
What cost England the game was South Africas first innings which went on a lot longer than it should have and taking the bad light in their (England) second innings
Batting first didn’t help us either as the bowling conditions were better on the first morning. Even if we had a bad innings with the bat though, the bowlers were good enough to get us back into the game.
I was at this game and when England started their second innings I said we could score 500 plus and turn the game round. I remember a kid laughing at me..

Shaun Pollock the underrated talisman 🔥🔥
What a fantastic days of test cricket
7:16 not a good leave at all !! Definitely a misjudgment!!
Test Cricket needs a serious revival Worldwide. Too much T20 cricket is ruining everything including ODIs
The best format by far.
Great upload. Do you perhaps know where I could get to see the match footage in full?
What's the best ground in SA to watch live cricket? Newlands looks the nicest, but what's the most atmospheric, or nicest day out?
I miss those south african crowd, players and stadiums
thank u for the content much appriciated
This wasn’t the most talented England team ever but it was one of the most hungry and enduring! They never gave up!

Agreed. Thankfully we still won the series. We had a bloody good team back then.

@@danielwilkins4748 definitely.
A problem in that innings was Giles went off the field with back spasms, so the quick bowlers were having to bowl more in long spells in serious heat.

Terrible to hear the passing of Graham Thorpe

Kallis playing on a different pitch in that 1st innings...

Literally no one is talking about the match in the comments. England could’ve lost this game and ended up almost winning it was amazing stuff.

577 against Pollock, Intini, Steyn and Kallis. Does not say much about these greats.
Graham Thorpe never won an Ashes series, yet Ian Bell won five.
Because bell era australia don't have Steve Waugh.
When amla n steyn were juniors
Steyn, pollock and ntini.. almost unfair advantage
England gifted SA a draw here
I love vintage cricket

Apart from one innings against Australia, poor old Mark Butcher was just a walking wicket really.
