Amazing stuff, more so considering the agony we had to go through setting up to do stills of a potato processing plant in Amsterdam back in the early '70s. We now have drone crews working some of our larger wildland fires, not only for reconnaissance in steep canyons too smokey to risk a helicopter crew, but also for dropping incendiary bombs to start back burns. Must be something like cherry bombs that are ignited and released electronically. I must find out because I have a neighbor who's been annoying me and I want to sell his house to Allstate.
You'd want to have a good (but not too good, they're expensive when they crash) drone for bushfire work. I'm loving this one, it's very responsive and so reliable compared to my previous ones (touch wood), and the small screen of the phone you must use (rather than a tablet) isn't the liability I feared. (That would be my eyesight :-(.) The bird is small and gray so I've lost the compulsion I used to have to keep it always in visual range - impossible. Re film I still have and love my old cameras, and film has its good points, but on balance I'm not nostalgic for it. I'm routinely disappointed with scans of my old slides. But now ve haf vays of making them talk.
@@MrDivingduck I have a suitcase of slides I took in Central and South America and the Carribbean I'd love to digitize. I made a light table to select them, but how do you recommend scanning them to JPG files? Walmart?
