Bro I loved your reaction! I'm from Spain and these two are maybe the biggest rap artists here. They started a long ago, around 90s, and they're still that fresh. Unbelievable. Long life to hip-hop Keep it up!!
Around 1956 the Eisenhower government reached an agreement with the Franco government (both were generals and got along very well, too well...) not to take measures on the undemocratic politics in Spain in exchange for being able to install military bases in the main Spanish cities (Madrid, Seville, Zaragoza...). Many of the Afro-American soldiers brought music from home and sometimes they had to get rid of it: Soul, Jazz, Blues, Rap... throw it away or sell it to the young people who were beginning to see in rap and Hip-hop a way out of drug problems, violence... And so it entered Spain. And it evolved.
Hope you enjoyed this man, means a lot that people from abroad puts their eyes on this and enjoy the old school hip hop as it is done here, big hug and we follow you from Spain!
Oldschool rap In Spain started during the very late 80s, with very underground low quality records, most of the time copying American rap from the 80s. So in the 90s, teenagers were developing their rap listening to a lof of those 80s American classics, and trying to develop their own style (rap bands like Doble v, SFDK and CPV started in that time). In Spain many of the rap fans are considered "puretas" (the ones that want to keep it pure), which still nowadays have a lot of weight in Spain rap scene, and even say things like "trap is not real rap". This concept is the main thing that makes boombap kind of rap, classic flows where the rhyme flows the beat to sync with the snare, and classic 80s and 90s techniques developed to excelence in Spain rap scene. During the late 2000s, styles like Big Pun's, where metrics were very intrincate, started making their way in with MCs like Jaloner. Hardcore Rap keeps being one of the best genres in Spain music scene, with old glories like these 2, or new faces like Foyone or Ajax y Prok keep it alive and floating.
That chorus is actually a reference to Rappers Delight! (as I know you noticed haha)" It to the bang-bang boogie, say up jump the boogie To the rhythm of the boogie, the beat" - > "Va en boogie, por la playa va en boogie, En un boogie por la playa le vi". The two best spanish oldschool rappers, Kase.O (pronounced "Kaisie O") and Zatu, period!
