Call and Put options to put it very simply - are timed bets. Call options are betting the stock is going to go up and if it does profiting the difference. Put options are simply the opposite betting the stock will go down and same thing profiting off the difference.

So is it best to do this if you think a stock will go down? Is this similar to short selling? Does it make sense to do this and a short sale when you believe a stock will go down?

If I purchase put option and the stock goes up instead of down. Will I lose more than the premium I paid for in beginning? The reason I ask is because I’ve heard people blow their account buying short. Can someone tell me why they lose all the money? Thanks

Hi Brian! I got my niece into Stocks. I sent your video to her and she will learn how to play stocks from you. I told her to also subscribe to your channel for up keeps on the Federal and how to invest your dollars as well as being updated on all markets on the does and don't. Tried to get her into Crypto but in Hawaii Crypto is illegal. Although! Hawaii has multiple Bitcoin ATM's in all supermarkets in all 8 Islands,.... those Bitcoin ATMs are for the tourist that comes to Hawaii on vacation because they are residents outside of Hawaii. People living in Hawaii cannot. So I got her into the Stock Market. I told her to educate herself on the Stock Market and watch your videos and I know in 2 yrs time she will be good at the Stock Market as you did for me in Crypto. You got me into Crypto back in 2021 and is doing great!. Been watching all your videos since the Corona virus and info on the 1st Stimulus Check, if the video is not for me, I am always eager to learn.... The education you give us is Priceless. I am trying to understand this. @8:44 how did you come up with the price $10 for Sell to Close? Is it because of $40-$30 = $10?
Cash secured put option has been profitable for me if the stocks are on the upside but i tried to open the contract when the stock is down, that way the premium will be higher if the strike price is close to the stock price.
Thanks for making this easy to understand. I'm now more convinced than ever that this is pure gambling, plain and simple. I plan to stay away from options. Thanks.

If I'm not required to literally purchase the stock then why would I not be able to trade this type of option? I can currently do covered calls and CS puts. The only risk would be the cost of the premium, right?
I bought Puts on PacWest Bank back in May and they expire 9/15. Can you look into your crystal ball and tell me when they'll go to near 0$ with this buyout please? Am I gonna have to roll my puts?
