I don't think I've seen enough people talk about how the "Zack walking Cloud to Midgar" part was supposed to be way earlier than the end of remake, very nice catch!
That music swell when you leave the hotel and start walking to the mansion gets me every time. I mean I know it's just the main theme in a minor key, but It has SO much impact in that moment.

Oh, I have been waiting for you to get to the opening here after getting all the backstory. I was not prepared for that opening. You might recognize that Sephiroth reading in the library scene from the OG 7. Nice catch on who Cloud actually is in the opening. Those secret/optional cutscenes from the OG coming in clutch. Loorreee!!! Can't wait for episode 2. I'm glad I'm not the only person who sings that song when I see rain...
I love how in the flashback, Tifa says. Cloud, Run, Run away. You have to leave, you have to live. But in Remake, when escaping through Midgar and running in with Sephiroth in that alley, he says that line.

I've heard that! It's really exciting!! I will see how much I do on or off. I LOVE sidequests, and if they add to the lore I'm all for making it public. Monotonous activities, just to win a piece of equipment, might not make the cut.
Pay attention to STAMP the Dog as you go on the packages of things, it will give you insight into WHICH world/timeline/universe you are in. (you wont get me to give away secrets). Lets go Soldier!

I dont play a lot of new games, remake, intergrade, rebirth, and resident evil remakes are the newest games ive played in 20 years. I spent HOURS just looking at the game and how beautiful it is.
5:30 I'm gonna chime in and point you to some interesting details in the Zack Scene at the beginning. Look at Clouds Armor. That is the standard SOLDIER Armor. In Remake he had different Shoulder Pads (the one with 3 big screws). So the Cloud that Zack is carrying is not the same oud we played the first game with. Also when Zack handed Cloud over to Kyrie, she didn't recognize him. And of course, as you noticed, everyone being unconscious after the destruction of Midgar is not what happened in Remake. As for your question at 11:00. This is pure conjecture but apparently Avalanche, in Zack's timeline, tried everything without Cloud and as a consequence, was not strong enough to handle Sephiroth at the end and got captured. 17:20 Look at the neck of the Shinra Trooper! You can see it's Clouds hair. XD I noticed that detail on my 2nd playthrough. 38:00 That Piano Mini Game is the worst! It was the last thing I did to get the Platinum Trophy. 1:11:00 It's Sephiroth's Sword.
Right away I knew one of those security officers had to be cloud. Now I'll have to go back and check the hair. I find your answer to my question about Zack and the timeline to be incredibly insightful.
He's also the one who is motion sick. Cloud was known for getting motion sickness, and even gave Yuffie some advice in the original game because she suffered from the same problem. Playing Rebirth knowing things from the original story makes for some very interesting "Ah-HA!" moments.

The expanded story of the town and the lore which some of it comes from Traces of Two Pasts, have you read it? My only issue was not having the spiral castle tower into the basement. I really like how in this remake they put a lot of effort into making flashback Cloud genuinely move like Zack Down to the way he walks and the way he grabs his sword in cutscenes, it's very clearly means to be Zack's mannerism in Cloud's body
I've got a note on the timing but it might not necessarily be correct. The end of crisis core and start of remake are not that far apart. Remember in Remake Cloud didn't have a place to stay until after the first mission. So he hadn't been in Midgar long. And the event of Remake are around 4-5 days. So there may be a few days added travel for Zack and cloud due to clouds condition. But it's not weeks or months due to the 5 year time skip in Shinra manor
It might be that in this retelling that they are making more 'real,' Claudia's death is a lot harder for Cloud. Consider the concept 'mother.' This is the person who raised him single-handedly after she had him at age seventeen. She raised the hero of our story. Her death won't be brushed over by part 3 like in the original with 1997 hardware capabilities. This might have been present in the original if they had an extra year before the deadline, and noticed what was missing, or if not missing, could be added for better effect. But new discoveries can only be made with more time. The development team had only figured out who Cloud was very late in development. They figured out they needed to create Zack to make his story work to the effect it did. But even then, Nojima, Nomura, and Kitase never knew just how much they would be exploring Cloud's character, and adding to him over the years. Sephiroth being obsessed with his 'mother,' and Cloud barely thinking of his at all, is one of the few more unnoticed contrasts between the two. We, the audience aren't guided to think about Claudia. We are put into the head of someone who is twenty-one, and someone, who despite having terrible things done to them, is normal. So we're not thinking of our parents, we're thinking of our peers, most of all Tifa, Aerith, and Zack. But if you lost a parent in the manner that Cloud does, this will hurt you bad. This will likely be one of many new elements added to the story.
10:59 time stamp question: Zack was carrying Cloud literally days before the first reactor... Aerith Red Barret and the anonymous Soldier with a Bustersword, shouldnt be in a helicopter let alone KNOW each other.... Cloud should have been found at the Train Station but somehow they know each other. Every fan has their theories, I cant wait to see you craft yours.
