Ian Atkinson hi, im interested in making my own bag and im wondering what tools will be needed for the job. I tried to find a tutorial on your website but i couldn't find it
Well done Mr. Atkinson!!! Ive been doing leather work on and off for about 2 years now and your videos are fantastic, besides the music(that was a joke haha) I plan on watching your full length video tonight. Thank you again and keep up the great craftsmanship!!!!! Cheers.
I'm not into any of this kind of thing. I was just looking for messenger bag reviews to try and find one for myself and stumbled upon this video. Just based on the title, I was expecting a boring video and a waste of my useless time. But I enjoyed every second of this video and was blown away by the final product. I even had to go back and freeze frame to admire the accessory holder! The bag exterior seems too simple and plain for my taste, but otherwise great video and good work!
Nice music. Is there a similar pattern to this with some kind of lining/protective cushioning inside so this can carry a laptop? I love the choice of music.
Definitely subscribed. For sure going to check out your store and buy a pattern for something simple to try my hand at this type of thing, looks really relaxing. Im thinking a simple book/journal cover. Thanks for the videos!
Outstanding. Really impressed. Love to make one one day. How many hours was your build. I would multiple mine by 3 or 4 and come out looking like a supermarket bag
Hey Ian, do you know what material one would use to make a carrysling/belt anti-slip ? As its done on rifle-slings for example ? They often use some kind of rubber or even some kind of sewable cork. I just can not find any material that seems suitable and most is intended for industrial use it seems. Kind regards and thanks heaps for your videos, Tarek from Germany
What gum you use to finish the edges of the bag? Unfortunately my messenger bag's edges were partially eaten by cocroaches.I just want to make its edges as earlier as it is.
Where do you buy your tools, I see you mention tandy often but on amazon a lot of the tandy tools I find have pretty bad reviews. Most tools I find in fact are cheap Chinese ones with bad reviews. It seems leather tools are either super cheap or super expensive. Is there anything available in the middle? Also a good place to find leather stamps aside from the same 10-20 stamps ever lol. Thanks.
I forgot to say how beautiful this project is by the way. So... P.s. That was one damn fine bag. With top level craftsmanship, I'd be proud to one one that nice, and twice as proud to make one half as nice. Thanks for continuing to make videos and share your art, and your craft with us. heh. Real men love arts and crafts.
First! Ha :) Full build along video and pattern will be available this weekend...

Will it turn out similar if I use other fabrics instead of leather?
Hi Ian,
Another great video. It was your work that got me started.
