Hi Darren thanks for the video. For a Canadian im assuming the portfolios you are suggesting would be in RRSPs because of the dividends and withholding tax that would occur?

@@chrisg5853 these are all ETFs traded on Canadian market, so no need to pay withholding tax, you can put them in either rrsp or tfsa, to avoid paying any taxes

@torontodarren thanks for the reply. With the newly added room coming up for my TFSA on Jan 1st I was looking to build a new tfsa portfolio and I will give your aggressive one a try. 👍

Thanks. Could you please also share your view regarding NAV erosion in covered call ETF or split? What's the best % to reinvest your individend to minimize the impact? Thanks a lot.

it really depends on the strategy of each of these covered call etfs use. for example, for HYLD from hamilton, they only write call options on up to 50% of the portfolio, and their monthly distribution is not fixed, but based on how much premium they actually earned in each month. hence there is really no nav erosion. One other quick way to check is look at the price movement. if price has been consistently going downward, then some level of nav erosion must have happened. not the case for hyld, or any other covered call ETF that i usually recommend, especially on the Canadian market.
