After watching your review I purchased it for my Tioga West Rim Trail hike and I have to say the backpack performed superbly. I was carrying 60 lbs load (I know way too much) and rained so had to use the rain cover that comes with it. This backpack is a keeper. Thanks for the review.
I got this pack as a present years ago and never used it. Now that I'm getting prepared to go on my first backpacking trip this video was super helpful in understanding the features and quality. Thank you!
Hell yeah! Made up my mind for me on this backpack! Thank you. I own and have used Teton's 5+ mummy-style sleeping bag and am absolutely happy with it. I've used it a good 10-15 times and I have to say it's always performed, even in the snow so I'm happy to be picking up another Teton product! Safe adventures to all!
Wants up Luke! I have this in green and love how it can be almost custom fit. I tend to overload backpacks sometimes but this one is sturdy enough to handle it but maintain comfort.
Just purchased from Amazon Hunter Green 75.00, the price is just incredible for what it offers. Your review did help immensely in my decision making. Some have complained on comfort and adjustability, seeing you use this thing several times I am convinced its just a great deal. Not too many more pieces to gather to get back outside, yay!
I was able to purchase the pack in Coyote tan back in 2020 on Amazon for $49. The price seems to drop way down once in a while but even at $80 this is a bargain pack.
@@ForeIndication Same here, for a heavy pack, it is very comfortable and as you said, .. feature rich. The only issue I have had is with the "Back Length Adjustment" Velcro tab. I have had this Velcro tab come undone quite often when I lift the loaded pack up by one of its shoulder straps. Because of this, I tend to lift the pack up by the "drag loop" on the top of the pack while I put my arms through the shoulder straps. Once it is on, I don't have any issues.
Glad to see you spoke good of this pack I bought a green one many years ago and it sit in the closet up until 2020 when the hiking bug hit it also came with a supply list of stuff you don't want to forget really like it.
I am so happy I found out you reviewed this! I have been dying to get into backpacking but didn't know if these were good quality or if I should go a little more expensive. Thank you!
I have this pack and have used it alot. Have to say its a keeper. I bought it before I saw this review, but am glad it got a great review. I had about 50+ lbs in my last hike and it did very well. Great pack for the money.
Not gonna lie, at first I was kind of put off by his review style, but now that I've watched the whole video, I feel like I know everything I need to know about this backpack. Solid review, man.
Bought my green pack through offer up for $50. Cleaned it and was basically still new. Have used it ever since for my trucking job on the road and also when I go through my travels. It's compartments are on point, great size. Once you get used to the pack it becomes almost a part of you and you know it and how to use it like the back of your hand. Always recommend this bag to fellow drivers. Great review. Maybe do an updated review of the same pack?
Perfect video! I appreciate how you have a second can showing a close up of the backpack. Very detailed and I can actual see what youre talking about. It is a beautiful bag, and I might just get it now!
i purchased the orange because i liked the look of it more. Then i went backpacking in a hunting area and just kept the rain cover on while hiking and was even more happy to have a bright orange pack! i like the green as well, but I'm happy with the orange just for hunting areas i backpack in.
Kevin P nope. Still going on strong. No issues with that pack at all. And I don't take care of my gear as well as Luke here does. I bang my stuff around pretty good.
Just don't overstuff the pack and you should be fine. I have a problem now of filling it up properly. As I have progressed I realize I need less and less gear. Some people need more and opt for a bigger pack to replace this one. Just depends on your style.
These are good starting packs for scouts. Economical and gives options for securing items to the outside. New campers tend to have bulky gear and this one has many multiple options options to carry everything.
Your reviews are awesome. I was considering the amazon backpack very seriously and your review echoed what I was seeing on line. I opted for the Teton scout in tan and love it.
I have been looking for a good pack as I begin my foray into the backcountry of British Columbia. I saw this on Amazon.ca and then saw your video and just ordered it. Only $67 Cdn!!! So stoked! Can’t wait to receive it and test it out! Thanks for your review 😊
Looks like a great pack. Kinda reminds me of my pack, a High Peak Pocatello 70L. I will have to keep this one in mind for sure for a second pack. Thanks for the review Luke. Really enjoying the channel and your passions for the outdoors. Keep up the great work. Strength and Honor my friend.
Very nice review Luke. I just upgraded to the 4000, from the scout 3400. These are great packs for the price. Especially for younger, or beginner hiker/campers. I've had mine for a few years and it handled it well. The only thing that broke was the waistbelt clip and that is because I slammed it in my car door.
Looks like something for a starter like me. All the products that I've tried out on y'alls recommendations have turned out great. 😀 Thanks for the review.
I am so glad I bought this pack it felt really comfy when I put it on and the material I think is better than some of the more expensive packs because of the nylon it seems very durable and there's tons of space to put everything an average hiker like me is going to need for a day or two out on the trail
Hi Luke, awesome review, a very great pack, I have the Teton Explorer4000, I'm also waiting for the Grand5500 to be delivered, very excited to receive it. -Jake
Love the quality of your vids. An essential step for any piece of gear that I research includes looking at your channel for a review on it. I'm actually a little disappointed that there is almost no chance that I'll purchase this pack. I got a killer deal on a good pack.
This may be sacrilege, the sleeping compartment will be holding 4L of milk(thats how they sell bulk milk up here in Canada, 3 individual bags of 1.33L each)The rest will be other groceries. Place the weight on the hips rather than the hands with bags. Since I’ll be using this weekly for grocery shopping, glad to hear it’s durable
Great video review. Did you have any issues with the zippers breaking? I noticed during your review video that one of the pocket zipper was open the entire time.
Found out a Go-Kot regular size will fit inside this backpack vertically, if needed, and if you unzip the sleeping bag compartment at the bottom to make it taller.
Luke, Trying to decide between the scout and the explorer 4000. I am over 6 feet tall and I am worried that the scout will be too small and some of the reviews on the explorer 4000 were not so pleasant. Any suggestions?
This pack is around the same weight as many of the Osprey packs of the same capacity for much less than half the price and the Osprey packs do not have the extra pockets nor some of the other features, both have the same warranty
Currently, there is a woman who is taking her 13, of 15, biological children on a Thru-Hike of the Appalachian Trail. Yes, she has 15 biological children from the same marriage...they are a wonderful family. The other two children join them on trail at times...one has done a lot behind the scenes for logistics and planning. Her oldest is 25 and youngest is 4 years old...and yes, the 4 year old is on trail and has been phenominal...they all have. The reason I write this, I imagine you'd realize when you are outfitting 16 people (Mom and kids), BUDGET MINDED is definitely a factor...but so is having QUALITY gear to last for a 2,193 mile Thru-Hike adventure of the AT. Nikki, the Mom, reached out to Teton Sports in initial planning of this journey and Teton Sports stepped up and took excellent care of this family...outfitting them all with backpacks and were great at following up and making certain everyone had the type and colors of backpacks they wanted. They reported, at 600 miles into the trip that they had ZERO issues with the backpacks...and, to my knowledge, that is still the case. And how is the family doing? I believe they began this trek, at the beginning point in Georgia (NOBO) in May of this year...they just completed the White Mountains range in Vermont ! They are closing in on Maine and I believe they have less than 200 miles to go !
It's a old video but I'm interested on the brand. I do have still a very old Kelty backpack (Tornado 4000). Teton makes affordable packs when you dont have a high budget.
Maybe a dumb question, but I got a really good deal on one of these and it is super nice. Looking at it as a BOB scenario this or USMC pack. What would you choose?
For a beginner that is looking for a pack for overnight hiking/camping with a medium sized dog, would the 3400 meet my needs or should I upgrade to the TETON Explorer 4000 (thoughts)?
Funny you are doing a review of this pack. I have one and I love it. However I have just contacted Teton over the weekend. The adjustable length adjustment Velcro has worn out after only 60 miles of AT hiking. So, when picking up the pack by the shoulder strap the Velcro on the length adjustment comes loose and disengages from the main pack. Frustrating. I am anxiously awaiting a call from Teton.
For someone just getting started would you recommend the scout or mountain adventure 4000? I noticed the scout doesn’t have side pockets that can accommodate tent poles.
This backpack survived a month long backpacking trip across Sri Lanka. Still one of my favorites!. Love TETON Sports!.
After watching your review I purchased it for my Tioga West Rim Trail hike and I have to say the backpack performed superbly. I was carrying 60 lbs load (I know way too much) and rained so had to use the rain cover that comes with it. This backpack is a keeper. Thanks for the review.
Nah that's about the right amount. 40 for most, 60 if you stronger or hiking thru desert without much water spots.
I got this pack as a present years ago and never used it. Now that I'm getting prepared to go on my first backpacking trip this video was super helpful in understanding the features and quality. Thank you!
With all the obscure packs you like to test it's nice to see some affordable, available gear.
Just picked this up on Amazon after doing research and also seeing your glowing review. Thanks Luke!
Amazon Canada just had the Scout 3400 on for $39 flash sale so I bought one. Regular price is $118 up to $180 depending on seller. Great video thanks

48$ on amazon right now

I have this pack in green and love it! I have never taken it overnight, but have taken it for long day trips and it was fairly comfortable.

I would buy a used car from you definitely.
Lol.
Well, the only problem for me is that in french, Teton literally means "nipple".
I just can't afford that !
In Spanish means a guy with fat titties
Are you telling me there is a national park called the Grand Nipple?
