    "Beware of the old man in a profession in which men die young." So happy for this man. Made me tear up a little. I had to stop training after a couple years due to some back issues. I miss it so much. Hopefully one day I can return.

      @nyc king It was not a back injury due to training.

      Watch peaceful warrior. Injuries are the worst. Back injuries are very complicated. I hope that you can get back to training again.

      I have injured my neck and was out for 8 years, I came back for 3 months to injure my shoulder once again, it's tough but i have almost finished my healing process and coming back.. It's worth it

    I love that you don’t get prideful when they pull something off and end up hurting the person. So many instructors/professors feel like they can not let anyone pull off a move on them.

    Love the fluidity of movement and of jui-jitsu to judo transition that Roy Dean passes onto his students. It’s origin is clear because while Roy Harris is a beastly behemoth of a fighter, Dean is way way smoother, so the fight genetics undoubtedly started with him. And, if memory serves, Harris says as much in Dean's 2nd (maybe 3rd?) dan test. Regardless these are all awesome to watch!

    • @mouthguardcomic
      @mouthguardcomic 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They call Harris "Boa," if I remember correctly, because of his slow and steady smothering pressure. I think Dean's Akido and Judo background also influences his style. But he talks like Roy Harris and has the same smooth pace when he speaks. You can tell he is from that lineage.

      I'm not even a a BJJ practitioner and I keep coming back to Roy's vids for concepts and ideas. I've bought a few of Roy's vids as well. Always beautifully executed, motivational, and a fantastic teacher. It is too bad there are not more affiliated schools as the way he teaches is the way I'd want to learn it. For now I just get by on unrefined judo newaza and catch wrestling concepts I picked up over the years. Against untrained people it does the trick!

    • @Presence_o_Mind
      @Presence_o_Mind 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Polentaccio very cool. His Jiu Jitsu is just so smooth and explained so well. He's definitely one of my favorites to watch and learn from.
      Just be careful getting too comfortable with moves that'll work mainly on the untrained. More and more people are getting trained and they're not always the good guys.

      Technical stand up sweep from De La Riva or something like that :) Establish De La Riva and move Your foot that is on the heep (not the leg that is hooking) on the knee/thigh and push Your opponents leg out so they stand in a wide stance. Then do a technical stand up, hooking the foremost foot in the Crook of Your knee on the leg that you shoot behind you during the technical stand up.
