- Getting on the air after passing the UK Amateur Radio Exam at Foundation Level using a dual band VHF UHF tranceiver, the Anytone AV-778UV and a home made dipole.
Covering mainly the construction and testing of the dipole antenna for the VHF band from 144 to 146 MHz.
Also using a Nano Vector Network Analyzer to test and tune the antenna. - บันเทิง

Good to meet you tonight at the club buddy. Just Subscribed so i won’t loose you again. Neil M3VWN
Really enjoyed watching! Very interesting and informative. What a great hobby. Nice one mate, keep us updated on your next progress please 👌🏽👍🏻👍🏻😎
Thanks Andy, you just can't make it up, 5 watts into the Pennines just shy of 40 miles away on VHF with my lowly antenna. I will get HF sorted out after Christmas and that should go world wide. Not forgot about the bushcraft. I have spent a lot of time on renovating the shed for bushcraft and radio, and the exam took some studying but turned out not to be too difficult at all. All the very best to you and Wendy
Nice to see you making the Ant, Well done young man De G7VQV Allan In Southampton IO90HX
Many thanks Allan, a more premanent antenna is a work in progress but it was good to test the theory and get some contacts, and another piece of knowledge 1094JM 🙂
Nice one brother your well on your way now atb Andy
Thanks Andy, I am surprised at how well this dipole does, but I will have to build another so I don't have to take it down when it rains, which is most of the time at the moment. First contact Vermont USA, that can't happen on VHF using five watts, but then I discovered the repeater was linked through the Internet so now it can happen :-) all the best
It has been a while that I saw a video of yours. Interesting what you're doing. Not that I can really follow it all. i'm not into radio and getting on the air. But glad to hear from you!
Have a great evening and I hope you don't get blowen away by the storm...
All the best, Kaat
Hi Kaat, yes I have just been quietly getting on with things while not worrying so much about computers or the internet. First storm Babet and now storm Ciarán, what a surprise to wake up this morning and find it was not raining, lots of outdoor jobs pending. Best wishes
@@GrasshopperOutdoors I'm glad you're ok. And I know the feeling about not always wanting to be online.
Where did you purchase the Nano unit?
how have you got on with the set up?
Did you send some morse code there hmm
I wouldn't use wood; when wet it's a conductor
Totally agree, especially in our weather. It was a quick fix to test the theory and get on the air. It all worked out so now I can take more time to fix up something permanent, also with better coax than the RG58 I am currently using. Many thanks for the comment.
I've applied for my Foundation exam; it's on Thursday , bought the same transceiver and a factory tuned base antenna , rg8x feed. all I have to do now is pass! good luck with your set-up. @@GrasshopperOutdoors
