Did you grow any paprika peppers to smoke in a grill last year? I'm growing the Leutschauer and also Alma peppers this year to make smoked paprika for meat rubs. We are in E TN zone 7a and I have been able to only get 2 types of basil to grow so far; Opal Basil and Lime Basil - which I love for tea! I am also a daily, all day tea drinker. I prefer lime to lemon although I am attempting to grow Lemon Basil this year as well. I am starting all of my Basils inside under grow lights this weekend. I hope that will allow us to have more varieties of basil this year. Last year I attempted to grow 16 different types last year and was successful at only 2. Never quit trying. Great informative video! Posted to media.
I have not grown paprika peppers yet! But it is on my list in my head. I tried basil tea last year because another TH-camr, Jess from roots a d refuge had talked about how delicious it is! It is very tasty! I wish you the best in your garden!! We can only strive to get a little better every year!
I don't care for jarred / canned dill pickles either. However, fermented kosher dills are pretty good. To make these fermented cucumbers in a quart jar, add to the jar 1-2 peeled garlic cloves, 1-2 short stems/leaves/flowers dill, cucumbers, brine (2 TBSP pure salt + 1 Qt water). Optional: 1 grape leaf for the tannins. Place a tea towel or flour sack towel over the jar and screw on lid. Let sit on counter top until desired flavor is achieved - about 3-10 days, the longer the more sour. Once to taste, remove towel, add flat lid and ring and refrigerate. Remember if you are not used to eating fermented foods, only eat small amounts to start. Research ferment nutrition. By the way, use the same brine for any ferment; ginger carrots,, basil tomatoes, cabbage sauerkraut, dilly beans, etc. The time to desired flavor may be different for each of these delicious alternatives. So easy and healthy!
If you like fresh eating slicer tomatoes, may I suggest Thornburn's Terra-Cotta. It was a little higher cost at Baker Creek however, the flavor was better than any other which we have ever grown including our prior favorite, Cherokee Purple. Last year we had 152 tomato plants for 2 years of preserved tomatoes and figuring out which tomatoes we liked best and would plant every year in the future. Of course, we knew that Cherokee Purple would always be in the gardens and now we have added Thornburn's. As far as cherry tomatoes, I have to suggest a hybrid, Sun Gold. Not only are they delicious, they are always the first to come on and the last to die off. Sun Gold are also the most productive.
@roxannern9393 I actually grew Thorburn’s Terra-cotta last year! I did an experiment with growing indeterminate tomatoes in a greenstalk original. (They didn't fair too well, but I think I needed to supplement them more with fertilizers.) So I may need to try planting that one in ground this year!! Thank you for your suggestions!
I have been buying seed packets left right and center cause they have all been cheap cause its off season, and have a big box of seeds right now. I will be getting a little bit later start on my season this year as garlic and onions will be in till june or maybe early july at the latest. I love Hoss tools and have ordered tons from them, Dont like MiGardeners pricing and only buy fertilizer from them because they are charging too much for seeds.
Mine starts end of Feb to early March and goes to the end of the year, I really at best have 2 months out of the year where I cant grow pretty much anything. Very nice in a way cause I can grow everything here. @@GardeningSuburbia
I hate sage, we actually have wild sage that grows here where I live and is native to here in california and you can use it for flavoring meats and cooking but i cant stand it.

Really MIgardener seeds are only 2 dollars
Perhaps they meant Baker Creek seeds because I didn't purchase from MIgardener this year?
I also have a couple varieties of garlic planted! I wish you a fruitful gardening season!
@@GardeningSuburbia totally makes sense. Btw wonderful seed haul
Thank you so much for watching!!

Never buy Zinnia seeds again. Save them from your spent blooms. There are plenty of TH-cam videos on the subject. Thanks for sharing your seed haul.
I intended to save seeds from zinnias last year, but when I planted they were killed off by the cold! Thank you for watching!
