Loving your comprehensive travel videos. Very sad the luxury hotel manager did not see the value of partnering with an African influencer. Another example of the effects of colonization. We support others more than our own. I hope they change their minds in the near future.

@@DahliaCN there’s a difference between mentioning and promoting. He mentioned his negative experience but then went on to promote the company as a great option to stay, so my point still stands.
I’ve visited Konokono before. My stay and every person who worked there was delightful. The property is beautiful.
As for Xanadu, I would not spend one cent there because of how their management treated you. Let them get it from their target market. I will remember that very well if I am fortunate enough to return to Zanzibar.

There are no 6 star resorts in Zanzibar.
It’s unfortunate about Xanadu, it had been on my list of recommendations to my clients but I am taking it off the list now.
Why though?
Why would I give my money to or promote a hotel whose I’m not on their target market?
Especially a company in Africa who are not also targeting Africans.

I like Zuri Zanzibar, but the inside is too dark and "cosy"... it needs to be white walls everywhere and it needs to be open plan. The balcony is perfect thou.

Zanzibar is stunning. Zuri and Xanadu are exquisite. Xanadu loses points for their lacklustre reception. The mentality that (White) Europeans/Americans are the only leisure tourists must fall. It's simply not true. We can't have such Colonial attitudes in 2023.

Interesting that Xanadu Villas only work with European content creators because black or African travellers are not their target market. OK is that because they think that black or African travellers can't afford to stay at their property? Anyway, I hope black or African travellers who CAN afford to pay those prices will take their money and business elsewhere since they are not the "target market". Go where you are welcomed and not where you are tolerated.

Do you know in the top 4 countries that Kenya receives visitors from, two are African (Tanzania and Uganda). And Kenya recently announced it would be doing more targeted campaigns in other African countries such as Ethiopia and Rwanda. A country that appreciates its homegrown African market. Yet a (probably foreign-owned) entity has the audacity to exclude Black Africans in their own motherland. What if Steven had been a Zanzibari content creator? Would they still exclude that person in their own land? Crazy but at least we now know where NOT to go!

I would never give the Xanadu villas my time or money.
I am in the U.S. and find it distasteful that they are in Africa, and cater to only advertising to European or other non-African foreign clients.
Africa is a big continent and there are various people in Africa that can enjoy these amenities as well.
I guess they are not only selling luxury, but also projecting luxurious western snobbish values.
Sheesh Xanadu.. .... I mean show your home team or home base some love why don't you? Meaning Africa.

Well done for your efforts, i must make a point as a pan Africanist ,most of these resorts are owned by white people, nothing wrong with that, but for a white owner to invest in the continent, he shouldn't discrimate in this continent, there is no difference between the colour of the shillings spent by African, Asian or Europeans of the financial class that they are marketing to. Now if they think your TH-cam target audience isn't their market thats a different thing.and you should tell us so.
African youth,let this be a lesson, and motivation to own and build, and manage tourism assets in Africa and indeed other countries, liesure is not only for white people.
