  • Question by an Atheist: "How can you Muslims claim that Islam is the correct Religion when most of you are just simply blind followers who were born in Muslim families? ...Most Muslims are only Muslim because their parents are Muslim, and likewise, most Christians are only Christians because their parents are Christian. What makes you so certain that your Religion is better than others when you have never tried other Religions?"
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi answers this crucial question in this talk based on the 3rd Chapter of his PhD dissertation. Don't miss out!
    Recorded at Al-Huda on 14th Sepetember 2012

i want to also say that ATHIESM is not an actual disbelief in a god, IT IS THERE REJECTION OF BELIEVING IN THE ONE GOD, but they worship there own idols which is science. Just a new modern idol.

Atheism: Disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods. Atheist do not worship(Definition: show reverence and adoration for (a deity); honor with religious rites). Science is not a thing, an object, person or ideology; therefore, cant be an idol(a person or thing that is greatly admired, loved, or revered.).

Referred to two Surahs (others are ahadith, from the prophet's saying):
Surah Rum: 30 (Fitrah on which we are created)
Surah A'eraf: 172 (Covenant of Allah with all human souls)
    Masha Allah & Good luck!

Critical thought is important in everything. Imam Ghazali was amazingly ahead of his time- he used a process of deduction, which this scholar is not acknowledging :(

It is possible for both Imams Al-Ghazali and Ibn-Taymiyya to be correct simultaneously. One does not necessarily have to negate the other.
There is sufficient diversity in human cognition to allow both methodologies (and more) to coexist.

I've read the comments saying how YQ lies etc about Imam Al-Ghazali. I could never know what YQ's real intention but before we see it using bad assumption (suuz zhan), we must see it with Husnu Zhan (good assumption). Perhaps YQ misunderstood Imam Gazhali, and to clarify either we remind him about it or he'll clarify himself later. But we are all humans, in learning Islam we can make mistakes, and that's where we as brothers and sisters help & remind each other, not shaming or judging. I am thankful for YQ for making this lecture and I am also thankful for people in the comments who remind what Al Ghazali really thinks/said. May Allah guides all of us, Amen 🙏

I don't agree with the interpretation of the statements of imam ghazali. He was against philosophy and even wrote a book against the philosophers..
The meaning I got, was that as a person we should submit to Allah consciously and not simply follow the actions that we see our parents doing. Ghazali also speaks about reflection and reformation. So to check yourself. Why an I doing this? Is there ikhlas in my action? Or am I doing this because I have some ulterior motivation??
I think these comments is a serious insinuation against imam al ghazali.
    Allah knows best.

i believe that Sheik Yasar is completely misunderstanding Imam Ghazali's position, there is no way that he ignored the Fitra, Adam AS said Alhamdolillah through ALLAH SWT's leave & Mercy, human babies don't have that capacity, but the Fitra is still inherent... Fitra and knowledge are 2 different aspects. Tabular Rasa, indicates lack of material knowledge, gained from human experience and learning.

Fitrah the quranic meaning stems from the chritian ethiopian use of that word probably being imported into the quran with muslims returning from the first hijra to Abyssinia. The first use in a late mekkan surah coincides perfectly with that hypothesis. Also that this word did not make sense when looked for its meaning in arabic.

Thank you for the lecture but the view on imam Al-Ghazali is somewhat dishonest or unclear. In his "Deliverance from Error," immediately after mentioning the observation that christian children become christian, etc, he states "I felt an inner urge to seek the true meaning of the original fitra, and the true meaning of the beliefs arising through the slavish aping of parents and teachers." I don't see how the Imam has ignored the fitra as the respectful sheikh states in the video.

although we're born on the fitra I do think we have to question how we worship because of the different religions even different sects if Islam we have to use reason to select the correct way to practice our faith.

We are nothing. (New “atheist” claims that We came from nothing)
Still we are the best of Creation.
(One may ask, what els are created out there. The “atheist” calls it Aliens. They believe there has to be another form of Life. We call THAT way of thinking/guessing/wondering call it what u want. It is The Fitra speaking

Shaykh Yasir Qadai, I believe you are jumping to conclusions to what Imam Ghazali actually meant, and then refuting what you understood from Imam Ghazali, which may not be the case.
    and Allah knows best.

gazzalli never said that in this context, this is a wrong interpretation
gazalli is trying to say it is only by striving you acquire true faith
and islamic faith you got by chance (being born a muslim) cannot be true faith

    • @saadikw240
      @saadikw240 2 ปีที่แล้ว

yasir qadhi should chill what gazzalli said is technical
so sheikh please dont get fanatical in your interpretation of ghazalli on the subject

Small-minded oafs want to over-simplify the world. YQ would like to lump all of humanity into a single IQ level and dictate "This is how you should learn, this is how you should think, this is how you're supposed to be." Human beings aren't that way, and even a cursory glance at Islam's history shows a broad range of intellects and approaches to Deen. What arrogance to dictate that the Imams should have been ignorant to be "just as good as Yasir Qadhi".
