Congress Amethi Candidate News | Will Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Contest From UP?

- Congress's Rahul Gandhi may contest from family bastion Raebareli - the seat vacated recently by his mother Sonia Gandhi -- and the party could field senior leader and longtime Gandhi family loyalist KL Sharma from Amethi, sources have told NDTV. The Gandhi siblings were told to take a call on contesting from the two VIP seats in Uttar Pradesh by Thursday night. But the party is yet to make a formal announcement. Friday is the last date for filing of nomination.
At a meeting with Rahul Gandhi on Thursday evening, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge had suggested that both siblings contest from the two bastions held for decades by the family, but left the final decision to them in view of their "knowledge of the ground reality" in the state.
KL Sharma is one of the close aides of the Gandhi family and represented Sonia Gandhi in the constituency when she was its MP. Mrs Gandhi has now moved onto the Rajya Sabha, leaving a vacuum in which Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was expected to step in.

In the thumbnail, the way Rahul Gandhi is hugging his sister is anything but sibling affection. In another video, in a public place on the dias, he pulled his sister towards himself and kissed her on the cheek. While these actions may seem normal in the Western society, they certainly smack of indecency in public. Frankly, I am of the view that neither of them are Indians, nor do they have inculcated Indian social ethos and behaviour. They are rank foreigners, pretending to be Indians for political gains here.
