- Nigel Farage warned of a "population crisis" making Britain poorer during Friday evening’s election debate. The Reform UK leader noted that post-1940s migration was around 30,000 to 40,000 a year, but 2.7 million came under Tony Blair's Labour and 4.3 million under the Tories, despite their 2010 promise to reduce it.
Penny Mordaunt defended the Tories' migration record in the BBC debate, suggesting that immigration would decrease with an annual cap. Labour's Angela Rayner criticised the Tories, saying they've tripled net migration in 14 years.
SNP’s Stephen Flynn called for a positive view on immigration, highlighting Keir Starmer's 2020 stance on freedom of movement.
The debate saw clashes between Rayner and Mordaunt on immigration, energy security, and the nuclear deterrent. Mordaunt criticised Labour’s defense credibility, arguing Putin wouldn't believe Starmer would use nuclear weapons. She also apologised for the Prime Minister leaving the D-Day commemorations early.

My favourite section was where the Welsh leader accused Nigel Farage of going to the D-Day commemoration for publicity. Nigel quickly retorted that he attended (as he does every year) with £100,000 he raised for charity!

Mordaunt admitted that the Tories have been the highest taxing government since 1948. The Treasury admitted they had no input in the figure of £2094 so that is clear a lie. Other economists using the same maths methods have concluded that the if the Tory plans were fulfilled the costs would be £3000 extra taxes.

I rung BT the other day. I was passed around about 20 Indians, they gave me incorrect advice & the next day I got my services cancelled & disconnected. Took about 3 hours on the phone also. We need to bring back British workers to businesses like these because they may be very polite but they’re rubbish at getting things done.
No one seems to have noticed that at the end of the debate, all the other speakers gleefully shook hands with each other, while freezing Farage out. Just another demonstration of the fact that all the other parties are in it together.
