- Setting off for an overnight kayak camping trip on August 20th 2023, as I celebrate 7 years since my life changing event. I explain how I was paralyzed and disabled, how it affected me over the years and how kayaking has help save me in many different ways.

I know Exactly what you went through because I when thought the same thing Except it wasn't from a tick bite i was involved in a Truck 🚛 Accident. I am a long distance Truck 🚛 driver & i was Training and over the road driver & I was 60 miles away from home when I let him drive the rest of the way home & he Fell asleep behind the wheel at 70 miles an hour and hit a construction Concrete Wall & flip the truck over while i was in the back of the truck sleeping. I Woke up in the hospital in very severe pay. Both of my legs were broken , Both of my knees were bruised , My right shoulder was broken , & Bruce chess and I had a machine breathing for me. Every time they took the breathing machine off of me I would stop breathing. I didn't give up. I have a big family wife , 6 boys , Granddaughter , & now a Grandson , a daughter in law. I was in a wheelchair for a long time cuz The first hospital did not treat me for my broken legs. I had to get transferred to a second hospital and have my legs rebroken again. So i know what you went through buddy. Me & my family love to kayak , & kayak camping. We are about to do a 40 mile kayaking camping trip on Labor day weekend with my wife's coworkers family ( wife , husband , & 3 boy , & my whole entire family Including my lil brother Tim & his son Jimmy are going with us on this kayaking camping trip for the Holidays. It's so awesome to see you out there kayaking & kayak camping man. It's also awesome that you know Southern Paddler. I know him too. I love watching his videos man. Brother you keep on getting out there & kayaking buddy. I still have a lot of problems with Pain in my feet 🦶 but i try to keep going but it hard because I have big & very very Extremely wide feet 🦶 sz15 6E wide ( which is very very extremely wide ) with very chubby fat wide toes that are Evenly straight across making my foot very very Extremely wide at 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe & Flip flops 🩴 is the only footwear that will barely and I mean barely fit on my feet 🦶 because my toes are wider than the flip flops 🩴 straps. With my foot Out growing shoes , socks , & boots when I was 18 years old it's very very extremely hard for me to find the shoes they said i need which there are no shoes that is wide enough for my feet 🦶. So i am wearing flip flops 🩴 in 20° & 30° Degrees weather outside. I thought I shared my Story with you Cause i'm right there with you cuz i am right there with you. Again thank you for sharing your story and your video.
Hey Mack, thank you so much for watching🙏. Wow, what a story. I also drove a truck locally about 15 years ago and can imagine how scary it was.
I enjoy showing and sharing the healthy healing side of kayaking and kayaking camping. It's important to pass along the information to our family/loved ones so they can also learn and enjoy what heals us from so much.
Dan (The Southern Paddler) is a big inspiration and well knowledged about the local waterways, so I enjoy watching and learning from his videos also.
