Aha, an ata tala varnam at last. When I hear it, the notation can be visualized. A disciplined, twice-repeated rendering of the pallavi and anupallavi establishes the raga bhavam indelibly, the kalapramanam chosen accords the rightful space for the muktayai swaram to sparkle and look at the way they keep tala effortlessly in the second kala. This is adherence to time-tested prescriptions and the result is sheer burnished gold. No elisions or slurs in the singing, especially in the madhyamakalam. Our gurus say that kalapramanam should be like a well-anchored ship at harbour, in Tamil nangooram potta kappal madiri, that is what their pacing offers a rasika. After Radha Jayalakshmi, Ranjani and Gayathri have a marvelous sense of synchronization. The sarva laghu chitta swaras flow in steady, stately fashion devoid of excitement or other frills. This rendering is a piece of art music. This is a recording that I will always return to, to seek Reetigowla's treasures. Thanks a ton for this upload.

I'll forever remember this concert as the "Happiest Concert Ever". This concert made me fall in love with the venue. I vividly remember running in the rain from the metro station, to find the hall full, and then getting drenched all over again, but this time in sweetest music. And as they don't say but should, All is well that begins this awesome. What a varnam!

My favorite varnam :) Thanks for deciding to upload a very special concert. I was so sad when BGS concert was not released as part of Vaibavam 2019 but this concert kind of makes up for it as we get to listen to this varnam and a mind blowing Sankarabharanam :)

This is one of the most soothing renditions I have heard.... Their music flows just like elixir, dyeing one of the most beautiful raagas in Carnatic music - Reethigowla - a brilliant shade of pink. And their second speed singing is so smooth that you never notice that the pace even changed.... Hats off to them! Thank you RaGa!

What a ravishing concert it was!! All about this concert is bliss and eternal joy. RaGa akka's Bangalore concerts are always special. That too, a concert for RLKM at Gayana Samaja is a starred event of every year.
This particular concert has been a special experience as I had to listen to many of my most favourites in a same concert. The long pending 'Endhuku peddhala' , most amazing 'Andholika' pallavi, super scintillating 'Bahudhari' and what not! Everything about this concert is overwhelming!
Reethigaula ata tala varnam was a wonderful starter of this magnanimous concert. And it was again a rarely heard one! This lockdown has given us a lot of blissful and mesmerising music from you both, via your TH-cam channel. These frequent uploads greatly helps us to distract ourselves from the stress of staying at home all the time.

Beautiful composition in 'reetigowla' ! The 'repertoire' keerthanam in 'reetigowla', is by Subbaraya Shastri-'" Janani Ninnuvina m which was popularly sung in cutcheries by M.S. Like many music lovers I too believe that all 'Reetigowla' keerthanams are so catchy by the phrase ‘n2 n2 s’. May be n2 n2 s is exclusively used only in Reethigowlai! thats doing the magic! Further the ragam skips ‘pa’ (or have a very controlled usage of pa) n exhibit an exclusive flavour ., like Maand or Abhogi and are very unique which has no substitutes at all. Reethigowlai joins the list. This ‘ni da ma’ phrase is also a part of avarohanam and hence sometimes skipped in arohanam too.! Here Ra- Ga sisters took concerted efforts to sing so diligently n presented an exhilarated recital with a thrust for requisite eloquence as entailed by the ragam. The sister duo evidently exposed the beauty of the ragam's dimensions. First class rendition!!! best wishes
Here the composer(vocalist too ) Thiruvottriyur Veenai Kuppaiyyar, is the father n Guru of Thiruvottriyur Thyagayya, vocalist . Thiruvottriyur Thyagayya was also a great composer and singer like his much celebrated father. I have written once on the profile of Veena Kuppayar, the erstwhile great composer. He had composed several immortal songs which bear his mudra- ‘Venugopala...their family deity;

Reetigoula is one of my favourite ragas and i totally have a special emotion associated with it. This was the same varna that was sung in this margazhi in Mudra and mudra was my 1st ever concert of the margazhi. And i started the margazhi season with your concert and the concert started with this varna. I felt like i relived that moment all over again. Thank you so much akkas for uploading this varna🙏
Reetigowla Ragam almost one of the favourite of all the Musicians and the Rasikas. Every Artist have their own way of presentation. Ra& Ga take the audience to the the highest mental happiness by their smooth presentation.

In one of the candid sessions “ music drills with appa “ In that session you mentioned how much practice goes in classical music & the demonstration of Kalyani Ata tala varnam made me realise that how to practice varnams . Akka’s you are a great inspiration for all of us .

What a fresh start to new year! My heart is filled with happiness when I start listening to RAGA sisters and that too in a video format. They are my companions for all my drives everyday in the form of their music. My most favorite singers. Heart yearns to attend their concert in live. With covid situation, not sure if i will get to listen to their May concert in Dallas. Was so sad. This is such a great start.
