I have a doubt regarding mutual fund investments and would appreciate a detailed explanation, including examples, if possible. Here's the scenario:
Background:
• Suppose I started investing in Fund A in 2010 when the total AUM (Assets Under Management) of the fund house was ₹5,000 crore.
• Today, after 10 years, the AUM of Fund A has grown to ₹80,000 crore.
• I have noticed a trend in the market, when a fund house's AUM becomes very large, the performance of the fund often slows down and might no longer outperform the market.
Questions:
1. Should I switch from Fund A to another fund?
I have identified Fund B, which currently has an AUM of ₹5,000 crore. Note: I assume that fund A an B are in same sector and type. So all, other details of funds remain same.
2. If switching is advisable, how should I proceed?
My concern here is about wealth compounding. For example, once the portfolio crosses a threshold like ₹1 crore, it tends to grow faster due to compounding. What is the best strategy to transition or manage this shift?
3. If staying with Fund A is the better option, why not switch to ETFs or index funds instead?
My reasoning is that, in the long term, the performance of most funds tends to converge with the index. Additionally:
o Every year, some other mutual fund outperforms the market.
o This cycle of outperformance keeps shifting across funds.
I’m not looking to chase returns but want to understand the best course of action. I believe the two key factors in mutual funds are time and money invested. The rest, I assume, is largely managed by the market itself.
Dear Sahil I am having SIP in UTI nifty 50 from last five years, same time I have SIP in active funds like HDFC MID &LARGE CAP, ICICI MID AND BLUE CHIEF AND aditya birla front line sip, But as per my experience Active funds giving more annualized return than UTI NIFTY FIFTY INDEX FUND
Bcas last 5 years market is on raise like a race car.. wherver you put it would have giver greater returns.
Dear Sahil, Thanks for the much useful video. Its "need of the hour", definitely its very difficult to choose the best out of countless MFs.
following index fund covers all
1.Navi Nifty 50
2.Navi Nifty next 50
3.Navi mid 150
4.nippon small 250 index
5.motilal 250 micro cap
Foreign index
icici nastaq 100
s& p 500
edilwiess greater china
planning to add Europe but now its in peak
let me knowyour suggestion
Avoid Navi
Sahil, as per my research if you want to invest index fund then don't invest into nifty 50 go for large cap fund nippon india and canara rebaco large cap fund two fund has good history beated five year index return. Main wealth creation go for midcap index fund. To invest into nifty 50 is not good choice.
Nippon large cap and icici bluechip fund
ETFs are very Good than MFs
If am ok Pls Give Likes Thumbs up 🎉..
Do not invest in Nifty50 Index fund rather prefer Flexicap fund.
You get 13% Approx. Returns in nifty but around 18-20% in Flexicap.
Choose wisely 😊
I think coming years Nifty 50 will give 15% CAGR
UTI Flexi cap fund Direct Growth ❤
Hi Sir, I always love your videos and guidance. It's really valuable...
Can you please analyse KPIT at this correction? It looks now reasonably valued, and pe is 48..
hi Sahil, my core portfolio is NIFTY 100 INDEX FUND from 5 years. Earlier i was in nifty 50 fund.. Satellite part is contra fund. From last 10 years. i have been investing in them. Reasonable returns with stability
Expense ratio is a lame excuse when most active funds beat index funds by 3-4% in flexi, largemidcap category
I am looking for this..luckily bro covered this
I think flexi cap is better than index fund it is always beating benchmark index
Just invest in Nifty Alpha 50 index fund
Nifty 200 momentum 30 index fund
Nifty midcap momentum 50 index fund
All are just backtested history and they are all data mining done to attract people. US is biggest example where they showed factor based indices over long period fail to beat majority of funds.
Momentum is battered now
@@siva.t.m. best time to accumulate
Why index funds not sure
1. If index is growing, the market will grow most stocks will grow , so mid or large caps can also outperform them
2. If stock has issue non index funds have the option to choose the good stock by removing the unperformed
3. Over history index funds did not outperform many other funds.
I have been in sips from 2017, i prefer 1.flexi cap fund 2. Mid cap 3. Large cap
Small cap is a high-risk, high reward bet , you should know when to close it.
Hi Sahil i remember watching your old video mentioning 2 flexi cap active funds are good n enough for long term.. this one is interesting
You forget to discuss nifty 100 index funds, which will cover the all large cap stocks
Hi Sahil
Thanx for the video
What is your opinion on Motilal Oswal Nifty 500 Momentum 50 Index Fund
Kindly reply
Thanks
Venu
Excellent information sir
Spiva report... Lol, index funds can't beat benchmark they have some expense

Nice video sahil

Hybrid funds are best in my opnion plus this is best time to invest in mutual funds
Please review our comments as well that where we can buy these nifty fufty index fund direct growth. I am using grow application, should I invest sip on thise application for Nippon index direct grow fund?
Which Nifty 50 Mutual fund has the lowest expense ratio?
Is it Navi Nifty 50 mutual fund?
Many smiles and much metta.
Index funds are very popular in the western world,i do have nifty 50 hdfc,
Hi Sahil, Are index funds really a good option, if we are doing swp from an index fund ?
In the Swp started on 01-jan-2008 , all index funds including nifty 50 prrformed very poorly compared to an active fund like hdfc top 100 or balance advantage funds. Index funds were almost flat during 2008 to 2014(6 years).
I have bse sensex fund which gives returns like nifty 30 because it's has 30 top stocks so you can consider that also
Instead of index fund one should choose Large mid cap, flexi cap or BAF.
Instead of doing a mutual fund
Try ETFs
But after taking of the volume factor. Or else liquidity problem may arise
@saumitrachakraborty9794 with time volume has increased massively in ETFs specifically in Nippon ETFs
With more awareness in future it's going to increase anyways
Nice video.thxs
Is it only Nifty 50 index fund good or equivalent BSE Sensex Index fund can be equally good. What's about Nifty next index fund. It has much better returns in last 5 years than Nifty 50! I have both funds
Index funds vs nifty bees
Which one is better sir ji ?
Index fund
Nifty bees... See the expense ratios
Sir active funds are better
Pls compare category wise mutual funds (large, mid, small, flexi)
Breaking News ♨ U.S. court issues arrest warrant for Gautam Adani: According to ABC News, quoting court records, the arrest warrant on Gautam Adani will be given to foreign law enforcement authorities
How about momentum funds like Nifty 500 momentum 50 index fund. Data suggests that it has beaten all indexes in long term.

Which bank account should I prefer for Investment account?
It hardly matters
IDFC Saving account
No way i am gonna invest in indexes. Flexi cap all the way bro.
Flexi Or multi. Multi cap apparently yields better returns than flexi in longer run.
@NeverGiveUpTryin maybe I just want fund managers to be free to choose the allocation
good sir, according to your opinion the fund manger are in capable to mange the active funds.
Yes, invested in Nifty 50.
Thank you
VERY GUD ANYALSIS👌
I have created a duplicate of SBI Contra SIP accidently..

Talk to SBI for consolidation of folios. On MF central you can open account and do it online as well, though it wont work if you are having MF in demat account.

Hi Sahil, No doubt for buy and hold index funds are great. One question is , are index funds suitable for swp of retirement?
When I back tracked swp starting jan-2008 till now, index funds prrformed very poorly compared to an active fund like hdfc Top-100 and balanced advantage funds etc. What's your suggestion on this ?
Pls review credit access grameen 🏦
