Perón, Eva Perón and Peronism themselves are very strong symbols and political sentiments in Argentina, from 1945 to the present day. They included the worker, the poor, the worker and the marginalized in the political and economic life of the country. Hello from Morón, Buenos Aires
I'm from Argentina, it was a huge honour that Madonna has portrayed Evita Perón in this movie. We, the argentinians, have a special bond with Madonna since the movie. And when she comes to my country, she always sings "Don't cry for me Argentina". By the way the only new song for this movie is "You must love me" which won the Golden Globe and the Academy Award for Best original song for a movie. She also won the Golden Globe as Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical film, then she was ignored at the Oscars... Shame on them, she was perfect for the role.
Madonna went through vocal training for this movie which helped with Ray of Light, I think. But then also a lot of fans think the training caused her to lose the “Madonna” voice of earlier albums we loved so much. 🤷♂️

"Don't Cry For Me Argentina" remix version was the official release and charted the US Billboard top 10. This remix is sung in English but there's also a Spanglish version. You'll have a greater appreciation for this soundtrack after seeing the movie. Great review though it would've been interesting to hear what you thought of "You Must Love Me"
This is a favorite musical of mine, my husband surprised me with front row tickets in NYC and I got to see Ricky Martin as Che and Elena Roger as Evita. Phenomenal show. The movie musical is something I watch frequently, Madonna's "You Must Love Me" breaks me every time. I adore Madonna's portrayal, I know there was some pushback at the time.
So happy you did this. This soundtrack is basically a Madonna album and the music and her voice is so amazing. I agree that if you listen to the whole soundtrack you have basically listened to the whole movie! I would recommend watching the movie but the soundtrack is the most important part!
Evita was the only movie I saw alone in the cinema in my life.... In 1997 I was listening to the soundtrack at least two times per week and I could sing the lyrics backwards... You're the first one who did a whole reaction to the soundtrack, I appreciate. But I missed your commentaries on songs like You must love me and Rainbow High....

Evita, the song since it's release became a gay anthem. Whenever it was played at a gay bar, club, etc everyone would pull an Evita and lift their hands like Madonna.
Listen to the broadway show first!!! Honestly you need to listen the broadway show! Either 2012 ( Same lady as 2006, but she is older, but this has everything missing in the 2006), 2006 (this is if you don’t like Patti LuPone) , or 1979 ( this is what you need to listen to first ). Honestly as some who has done the show, and seen it, the power really comes from watching it live!

U basically just "watched" the movie since the album is the movie.. She's amazing in it though❤️
The ending of the film is incredibly powerful and quite the tear jerker.

I love Madonna,but she was a wrong choice for a such great musical.
Madonna did an amazing job and worked hard for this.Farbeter than Patti Lupone IMO.
