- Last Oakland county test of the year so I shot my luck up with this Darley in Leonard. Initially thought it was a model 2 at first but with the help of a couple people it was concluded that this is in fact, a Type 1. Obviously wasn't horribly loud but it was decently punchy for such a small siren!
Sirens in Oakland Co. are tested on the first Saturday of the month @ 1pm (March-November)

I did not realize this siren was active! I will consider this one in the future
Congratulations on making history! Great video!
Been waitin' for something like this. I love it!
Wtf is up with the model 2 shroud 😂
Nice vid!
Holy maraconi and cheese 🧀...
Definitely a Type 1. The voltage is probably a tab bit on the high side for this one. They should run at around 5000 RPM and peak at roughly 670 Hz. It's peaking in the 740-ish territory.
It’s a minor difference, but I’m wondering if it peaks higher due to Americas transition from 220V up to 240V in the early to mid 20th century. Slightly above it’s intended operating voltage.
What a tiny siren!
WHAT???
