He shot down those monkeys in 3x19 and protected him against Zelena. And besides, even if it was RECKLESS, it WORKED. Zelena got out, made the portal to Oz, and Regina fixed it so they could all go to Camelot. Hook doesn’t always think things through. He isn’t afraid of anything because he usually has nothing to lose. As a villain he had one goal of destroying The Dark One and now he has to save Emma from the Dark One but she is the Dark One and it’s all very complicated! But he’s definitely more of a “get the information you need and then charge forward head first” kind of guy. But in this situation he has an absolute reason to …Hook is the only person who knows what Rumple was like before the Dark One curse and what he was like after. He is the only one who has seen what the curse does to someone. And he is also well aware that Rumple had his son with him … Emma has no one with her. She is alone until they get to her. Last season Emma and Hook talked about the importance of having someone to live for and that keeping you from the darkness. If Emma is alone he is afraid of what might happen. He knows that they don’t have any time to waste so he’s going to take every opportunity to get to Emma as fast as he can … And he got there just in time. Emma was seconds away from succumbing to the curse and letting the darkness and selfishness take over. Killian was the only one who was there to remind her that goodness isn’t something your born with or something forced upon you … it’s something you choose. As soon as Emma falls into Killian’s arms the voice of the Dark One in her head momentarily disappears.It took all of them to get to Emma but it was Killian that knew that they had no time to waste. His haste and desperation were written for a reason.
